Advantages: cheaper than GF2, blistering performance, 64Mb or DDR memory

Disadvantages: alot of money for a single component

This is the premier graphics card available at the moment, on a par with the Nvidia GeForce 2 GTS. Trust me I have seen this card in action and it absolutely flies along. It has all the advanced features you'd expect from a graphics card nowadays, like 64Mb of DDR memory and a big whopping GPU to go alongside.

It is also priced very competitively in comparison with the GeForce 2. I have seen many benchmarks that show these cards neck and neck in a right old ding dong battle. Then way back is the Voodoo 5 5500 and the GeForce 2 MX. However, you are talking nearly £300 for the GeForce 2 and yet a 64Mb Radeon can be found for around £250. This is a significant price advantage with going with the Radeon, particularly as there is nothing to tell between the two cards.

For people with plenty of money intent on building an absolutely brilliant gaming machine should be looking at a Radeon 64Mb DDR. You won't find a better card than this one and with ATI's promise of a Radeon MAXX (dual processor) things are looking bright over at ATI at the moment although it's hard to tell who's going to come out on top in this exciting battle of the graphics card giants.

As a geforce 256 DDR user I should disagree. But I`ve used ATI cards for years and have much respect for them.Nvidia have a good group of software mechanics at the moment and their drivers are first class.Good opinion.

ATI would be a good company if they could just once release some decent drivers for their cards
