Advantages: Staggering performance, High Frame rates, Fast onboard memory, Good drives
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
This is actually an opinion on the similar model, the Creative GeForce 256 Pro, which is my madel.
The main difference between this card and the standard GeForce is that this card (pro) uses fast (high bandwidth) DDR (double-data rate) memory. What this means is that the GeForce and the DDR GeForce cards produce near-identicle frame rates at low resolutions, but as the frame rate increases, the DDR cards flex their muscle and achieve very playable frame rates at resolutions as high as 1600 x 1200
In my veryspecial quake3 benchmark test, it proved to be very fast indeed. It clocked a very respectable frame rate of 40.2fps with full 32-bit rendering, while in the 3D mark tests, it made 2,708 3D marks. All this means is that the card is very impressive.
There is no doubt whatsoever that this is a PHENOMENLY fast graphics card. Even on my reletively slow Pentium 233, it provided superb frame rates.
As the GeForce 256 pro is one of the cheapest GeForce DDR sets on the market (less than some standard GeForce cards) it represents excellent value for money.
So if youve ever wondered what Quake 3 looks like at 1600 x 1200, theres never been a better time to find out before now. It really is the king of the hill in gaming performance, the GeForce DDR is blisteringly fast.
