A great choice for those with a modest monitor size, or wanting to play new games on a budget. The PNY 8600GT is by no means a high spec card, but for the low price it can be found is definitely worth a look for people with slightly modest expectations. Performance ranges from fair to excellent throughout most games, with even intense games such as Crysis being playable on medium settings at 1024x768.
With only 256 MB of memory, it is going to struggle with the next gen games, but it performs admirably with older games, giving frame rates consistently of 45 plus in medium settings on games such as FEAR and Gears of War. If you're looking to really take advantage of your PC's power, you'd probably want to see the games at higher resolutions with all the settings up so take heed of this.
I upgraded my graphics card from a 7300 GT to this card as the value for money looked excellent and I certainly wasn't disappointed. If you're in the market for a budget graphics card this is a great card, but if you're not so limited by price and want something a little better it's worth checking out the 9600 GT models that are readily available for between 100-120 pounds if you're prepared to shop around.
