PNY Nvidia Quadro 600
Advantages: Runs great, stable, 3D
Earlier on this year I decided that it was time for me to go back to desktops for more serious gaming, I finally got round to starting this a couple of weeks ago. One of the main pieces of the puzzle was of course the graphics card seeing as my main use was serious gaming.
When deciding which card I wanted I knew that it was going to be Nvidia, I have always used Nvidia with no problems and nothing but quality engineering in the card.
When browsing the graphics card market there was a vast array of card to choose from and I spent about an hour weighing up the differences before finally landing on the quadro 600.
Why this card?
First of all It had to be compatible with my motherboard so it had to be a PCI 2.0 card which is pretty standard of all cards out at the moment and this didn't effect my final decision. Next I wanted quite a high SDRAM and with this being 1GB that was more than enough to run any game out on the market today. Finally the decision maker was this card supports 3D which although i'm not using at the moment I know its something I will upgrade to in the future.
When the card arrived it was nicely packaged and secure in the box so I was confident that there wouldn't be any damage to the graphics card during delivery. It came with an installation disk and the manual book. Installing the actual card was real simple, just slotted it into my motherboard and when I started my computer up I put the disk in and installed the drivers for the card and It was done!
With all the hard work done all I had to do was sit back and play a few games to see how it ran. I bought a few new games that had just been released for the PC and required some of the serious power the card had to offer. Testing the card within minutes I knew I had made the right choice, never before had I played games on the computer running them in such high quality and so smooth to go with it! The card maintained a stable 60 frames per second even when the screen got a little hectic.
All said I'm really happy with this buy I payed £160 for it which was quite steep but I believe it was worth it seeing the how easy the card was to set up and how well it runs my games, not to mention the possibility of 3D whenever I'm ready to take that option. I recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade the graphics in their desktop and looking to play some new games.
Summary: Great graphics card runs newer games and keeps them stable.
