Guerlain Secret De Purete Gentle Polishing Exfoliator
by kama0529
Guerlain Secret De Purete Gentle Polishing Exfoliator is a gentle exfoliator that is something that I've been used for the past three weeks. I have recently been having sun beds as I want to maintain the suntan I picked up over my summer holiday and I've found that my suntan from the sun bed lasts a lot longer if I have regularly ... exfoliated. The Guerlain Secret De Purete Gentle Polishing Exfoliator cost me £28.75 from John Lewis and this was for a 75ml bottle. Obviously this is quite a lot of money and I would not normally spend this amount on an exfoliator, but I had the option of having a trial sample of the product and I found that it worked really well and so this is the reason I was willing to spend a little more on an exfoliator.
The exfoliator comes in a white plastic tube and its design is pretty uninteresting and there is nothing about it that jumps out at you. I'm pretty sure that unless I had tried the trial sample then I don't think I would have picked this up off of the shelf because it would have just blended in with all of the other exfoliators on offer.
I use this exfoliator sparingly because it is so expensive, and luckily it seems that only a little amount of the product is really necessary to achieve really good results. The exfoliator works like all other exfoliators and it's simply a matter of applying a thin layer of the product to slightly damp skin and then massaging in. The exfoliator feels really gentle and I have to admit that initially I thought that the exfoliation was going to be too gentle because the amount of friction created by the "micro lotus seeds" felt too little. I tend to massage the exfoliator over my skin for about two minutes. Removing the exfoliator is simply a matter of rinsing my skin. I tend to use a flannel to remove the layer of exfoliator and any dead skin cells, and then I rinse the remainder off with just cool tepid water. I find that the exfoliator is removed quickly and easily and that there doesn't seem to be any residue left after rinsing.
What I like most about this product is how nice my skin feels afterwards - and also what good condition my skin seems to have been in since this has become part of my skin-care regime. It does leave my skin feeling soft and smooth - and also moisturised. I find a lot of exfoliators to leave my skin feeling quite dry, but this exfoliator helps my skin to feel hydrated, although I also tend to moisturise after using it also. Very occasionally, although not always, I can be left feeling slightly itchy after using it. I'm not sure whether this is actually due to the product itself or whether it is because of the increased circulation following the massage needed during application.
Since using the Guerlain Secret De Purete Gentle Polishing Exfoliator I have found that my skin has stayed smoother and spot-free. I generally use it about twice a week and always before I go on the sun-bed for the reasons that I mentioned previously. I would recommend it but I am aware that it's very expensive. Guerlain Pinceau Powder Brush
by europe-chick
My husband has recently been away on a stag trip to Las Vegas. I was very miffed at having to stay home, and so I asked him to bring me a gift back from Duty Free. He asked what I wanted and I told him to surprise me. Now my husband is actually really bad at choosing gifts, I always just tell him what I want as it is safer that way, so ... maybe saying ''surprise me'' would turn out to be a bad idea!
As it turned out he chose really well, OK so I don't actually think that 'he' chose really well, I actually suspect that he wandered up to a friendly looking sales assistant and asked her what he should buy for his wife that he'd left behind while he swanned off to Las Vegas for a week!
The sales assistant obviously spotted herself a sales opportunity and sold him this gorgeous limited edition Emilio Pucci for Guerlain Pinceau Powder Brush, and the matching Terra Azzurra bronzing powder and blush (which I've also reviewed).
This powder brush looks really elegant and expensive. The short stubby handle is made from an ebony coloured varnished wood, and it has 'GUERLAIN EMILIO PUCCI' written on the handle in bronze. It then has a bronze metal part to the handle which holds the bristles of the brush, this bronze metal part is engraved with swirly patterns mimicking the iconic Pucci print. Finally the bristles of the brush are an absolutely gorgeous deep blue colour, with black tips, the bristles look like they've been dip dyed with the black. It is really quite a heavy and substantial brush, the wood handle obviously being the heavy part, and it looks sophisticated, luxurious and classy. The brush then comes in a little hard sided compact case, a bit like a little lipstick case, which has the iconic Pucci print all over it, the case is in various shades of blues and white.
The brush is a similar in style to a Kabuki style brush, with its short stubby handle and quite large head. And it's really easy to grip and to use, the brush easily swirls over all of the colours in the matching bronzer and blush compact to pick up all of the colours rather than just the one. The bristles on this are so supple and super soft and silky, in fact they are the softest bristles that I've ever had on any make up brush that I've ever owned (and I've had many make up brushes over the years). This feels divine on my skin when I swirl it over my face, it doesn't scratch or irritate my skin at all, in fact the bristles just feel like silk across my skin.
I've used this with the matching bronzer and blush that my husband bought for me at the same time, and I've also used it with other blushers, and powders that I have and I absolutely love it. It's the perfect brush for applying any face powders, bronzers or blushers, I love that it's so silky soft, and the fact that it looks so funky with its deep blue and black dip dyed bristles.
I absolutely love this, and I think that he 'chose' very well. It's the kind of thing that makes a stunning gift, along with the matching bronzer and blush, and obviously the sales assistant knew this! Read the complete review |
