~An illuminating make up product from Guerlain~
*************************************
Having tried a large number of powder based make up products that have promised to enhance my skin tone with the mere use of a light dusting of what is mostly talc with a few additives and some colouring, I must admit that I was mostly drawn to the Guerlain Meteorites Powder product as it looked really very attractive in store. The product is well presented and packed in to a usable and highly attractive container that stands out from the crowd, which when combined with the array of beautifully coloured pearls of colour you actually use, makes for a winning formula from the outset.
The feeling that you are buying in to owning and using a luxury product is something that softens the blow of the sale price of the product just a little, although in use what you get is quite comparable to some of much cheaper mid range branded powder based products, which do very often work rather well at a much lower sale price. Never the less this product is very nice to use and wear and comes in a number of varieties (pressed powder, pearls and travel sized loose powder) with the smartly presented travel product container and neat powder puff that comes with it making this something that is worth treating yourself to from time to time.
~A range of shades to suit your skin tone~
********************************
The range of shades available ranges from teint rose, teint beige and tein't d'ore with the latter shade having a greater variety of golden/ beige coloured powder pearls in the mix, that work well with tanned skin as well as when wearing a lightly tinted liquid make up base underneath. The idea of the product is that you simply swirl on as light or heavy a dose of the lovely tinted powders as you choose, in order to get a good blend on the skin that not only has a mattifying effect, as it also illuminates the skin at the same time. As a powder based make up made from neatly made pearls, it is long lasting which means you don't need to keep buying more of the product every few months.
~Using the product~
***************
In use I have found that it can be hard at first to soften the outer layer of the coloured compressed pearls of make up so as to be able to get enough of the product on to a kabuki brush or powder puff for a light and even layer of powder that can be used as needed. I have found that a very light shake of the product container (with the lid on of course) prior to first use will help to soften the outer layer of a newly bought set of powder pearls just enough to allow you to run a soft make up brush across them and pick up a good amount of powder which can be directed as required.
Once the powder pearls have softened ready for use they can break up over time which does leave powder residue in the container. This isn't a problem as it ends up being easy to use all of the product, as this powder residue can of course be dusted on to the skin in the same way as when brushing across the powder pearls themselves. For those not keen on overly scented make up products it may be wise to visit your local Guerlain counter to have a look at these prior to purchase, as they do have a light violet scent to them that won't appeal to everyone. In use this scented effect does wear off and isn't something that remains strongly on the skin although it is there when you open the product container in order to dust on some of the illuminating powder.
~Price and rating~
**************
As far as the price of the product goes it isn't cheap to buy but it can be long lasting, giving a nice illuminating effect on the skin, so it certainly won't need replacing all that often. The cost of the pressed powder can be around £30 from online sellers, with the pretty powder pearls being a little more to buy, at closer to £35. The cute travel sized product is priced at mid way between the price of the other two variations. As this make up product works well on the skin giving a light and soft sheen of illuminating colour where needed that looks good and lasts well too, I feel that in spite of its high sale price this is still a 4 star product.
Summary: A nice product that has a luxury feel ~ at a price!
