Advantages: Gives the sun-kissed glow.
Disadvantages: You have to watch the direction you rub it in, way overprised.
If I am being completely honest, in the past I have been hesitant to buy the Guerlain products. They are sold in John Lewis' and the really big department stores where all the girls stand looking gorgeous, intimidating you trying to get you to try their products, and I always find that they cost a fortune. Now, I'm a make-up freak, so I don't mind dishing out the pennies for a good make-up. However, from the one or two Guerlain products that I have bought, I haven't been overly impressed. I didn't actually purchase the bronzer, but I was given it by a friend. I asked to use her bronzer one day and I accidentally put it into my make-up bag. She then said I could keep it, she is loaded anyway, her husband is an executive for British Airways or something like that.
When I first used it, I had Max factor colour adapt, then a bit of Maybelline Dream matte mouse, and this as an extra. I used the Bronzer just as I would use a normal bronzer, and I thought hmm, nice although a little dark for me but hey-ho. But little did I know I had a £30 bronzer I was using. In fact, I didn't even know it was Guerlain. The lid has the fancy Guerlain logo on it, but I didn't know that. I know that some of the terracotta powders have the Guerlain logo on the actual make-up, but on the palette it didn't When you open it up, there is 16 little smudged-hexagon shapes swirling around. They colours of these hexagons vary from light flesh colour, to chocolate brown. This is for the colour Blonde 01. I had to do a little research to find the colour because of course I didn't have the box. If you go for other colours you will find more Dark Brown and glittery gold colours.
I noticed that if you swoosh the brush down the right hand side, you get more of a light-but-natural colour. Whereas if you swoosh it down the left hand side, it's more of a goldish night time look. Give it a little rub in the middle, and you get a bit of everything. Which to me looks completely weird. Also note, I used a small brush for this, if you use a bigger brush, you will probably get a bit of every colour on the palette, which isn't a good thing!
I think these bronzers are suitable if you are looking for a natural look, rather than those girls who do a lot of dancing shows, wear too much fake tan and want an orange look. The main reason is with the palette you don't get one block colour. The array of colours create a more natural and easy-to-blend look. But if you're not careful, it can look a little messy and patchy!
The bronzer comes with an attached mirror, but mines fell out once a dropped it and the glass cracked. However, quite impressively, the bronzer stayed in one piece. When you swipe your brush across it, only a little comes off. If you use a cheaper, rougher brush then you will find that it all crumbles off and the colours get mixed up. I advice you not to be vigorous when rubbing it with your brush, if the colours get mixed it, it becomes a waste of money.
Ok, this is a good bronzer. But it is just as likely to look messed up as any other cheap bronzer. It lasts as long as a cheap bronzer, the only difference between this and a cheap bronzer is that it doesn't break and crumble like a cheap one does. I do agree that this is a good bronzer, and I would have got it again if it wasn't so expensive. But the only thing putting me off is that you can get the exact same bronzer for half the price. This is a recession and we can't afford to be wasting valuable money we don't need to waste.
This is why, I can only rate it 3/5 stars. That is because I noticed 2 main flaws it. One: far too expensive. Two: looks a bit weird if you rub it the wrong way. And for the price your paying, these flaws shouldn't exist.
Summary: Be wise girls, stick to maybelline
