Advantages: Easy to apply, natural looking, good staying power
Disadvantages: The initial cost of this product
I have never been a massive fan of the fake tanned look, I do like to look like I have a healthy glow about me and I have been known in the past to have a spray tan but I am not one to have that look all of the time. I also think that if you buy a cheaper fake tanned product then this will show as the quality really is not there with it that is why that when I do wear a fake tan product, especially on my face I always tend to go back to the Guerlain Fresh bronzing Gel (Number 2 shade) I have only got a few of the Guerlain products, (I think I have even reviewed them on here before) and the ones that I have I have always been pleased with, here are my thoughts.
The Guerlain brand is at the top end of the beauty market so it is quite an expensive one. The bronzing gel that I have at full cost can be up to £28.00. It is worth shopping around for though and my last one cost me £21.00 which is quite a saving. The bronzing gel can be found in many department stores, places like House of Fraser, John Lewis and the larger Debenhams stores.
The bronzer looks quite minimal in design I think. It comes in a plastic tube and has brown and gold writing on it. There is the Guerlain logo at the top of the bottle followed by the name of the product, there are 3 different shades that this bronzing gel comes in, and I opt for shade 2 which is called the Dore shade. On the reverse of the bottle is information about the product itself as well as break down of the ingredients that have been used and directions for use.
Guerlain describe the product as 'a new way to achieve that healthy glow all year around. To begin using the gel you need to undo the black flip lid that is at the base of the bottle and begin to squeeze the gel out, you really do need a small amount of this gel. The first thing that I noticed was that it had a light texture to it, it was not greasy and when I was working with the gel in my hands before applying it to my face I was impressed with the formula.
As I mentioned, you do only need a small amount, I find that I work it in my hands and then apply to my face, it works well sat on top of moisturiser or even mixed in with moisturiser, you will instantly see that it will give you an instant shimmer like glow, much the same as a bronzer would give you. I think the main reason for me buying this product was that after I had applied this gel I did not need to wear any foundation, powder or blusher so it was a really good way of protecting my skin, this gel has an SPF built into it as well as allowing my skin breath as it is not a heavy formula in any way.
I think the bronzing gel has great staying power and really enhances a shimmery look. The gel is also really easy to remove, this is not one of those fake tan solutions that leaves you with patchy looking marks on your face, I think that because it is the face the gel has been really researched so that it is a case of you put it on and it looks even and this is the same for when you take it off.
I also like that there is no really strong smell wit this product, I hate the fake tans that have that overpowering chemical smell, this bronzing gel simply has a light and slightly sweet smell to it, not bad at all.
In summary, I am happy to recommend this gel, it is just as good as a powder bronzer and it also protects you from the sun. It looks quite natural and I am certainly impressed with the quality of the product, the only downside for me is the original cost.
4 out of 5 from me
Thank you for reading
Summary: An excellent, natural looking bronzing product
