Guinot Moisture-Supplying Radiance Mask
by fergusa
I've just had a spare 30 mins with baby napping so I decided not to clean the kitchen and instead to have a little mummy pamper time instead.
I absolutely adore Guinot products and find that although pricey they pretty much always deliver outstanding results. I've reviewed a couple of products previously but today's choice ... was the Hydra Beaute mask and an eye mask (review to follow).
After exfoiliating with the gommage biologique (see previous review), I applied this mask which in english is called "moisture supplying radiance mask" and left to work for 10 minutes.
The mask is a thick lotion texture and is white in colour, when applied it sinks into the skin, not leaving a big gloop on your face as some masks do. There is not a strong fragrance, just a light fresh smelling scent.
The mask is made for dehydrated skin (not to be confused with dry skin - the first lacks water, the latter lacks oil) and promises to:
* Refresh dehydrated skin
* Brighten complexion
* Refresh and vitalize skin.
Does it work?
For me, absolutely yes. I see results everytime I use it, my skin feels and looks smoother and I notice fine lines less. I often have dehydrated patches on my skin, making the area look uneven, and it sorts them out every time.
The price is about the same as you would expect for a Guinot product so not cheap. The 50ml tube costs around £22 and I would say I get about 20 applications out of it, so lasts about 2-3 months using twice a week.
I tend to buy my Guinot products from a company called Serenity Beauty as I find they offer good prices and fast, free delivery. Often you get free samples aswell. The product's box often gets crumpled during postage but I don't keep the boxes, so doesn't bother me.

Guinot Fresh Radiance Peel-Off Mask
by fergusa
Not for me this one! If you've read any of my previous reviews you'll know I'm a massive Guinot fan, to the point of obsession. This however was disappointing and actually quite uncomfortable to use.
It's a gel formulation mask which you smooth over the skin and leave for 15 minutes, so far so good. It works with Fruit ... Acids/AHA Complex (Lemon, Orange, Cranberries, Sugar Cane and Maple) to exfoilate without using the usual grainy creams/lotions.
When ready to remove, you can actually peel the mask off, quite good fun at first but I have quite sensitive skin and found it a little uncomfortable. To finish rinse off with lotion.
Even after rinsing, I found I was still finding bits to peel off hours later, not a good look.
To be fair, I gave the rest of the tube to my husband and he thought it was great. Maybe this one's just not for me.
If you looking for a gentle exfoilator which does'nt use grains, try the gommage biologique. That's brilliant, I'll review it next. Read the complete review |

Guinot Radiance Mask
by ninacolada86
Masks...
A luxury that I rarely have the opportunity for, but enjoy indulging in from time to time. The other day while cleaning out the mountain of samples, lotions and makeup from one of my drawers, I found a 5ml tube of this posh mask, that was enough for at least two sessions. One week later I found myself with two hours ... free, a bathtub full of soapy bubbles and this mask on the agenda.
About:
The Brand Guinot is a salon-exclusive French skincare range available only through specially-appointed salons and spas worldwide. This means that you wont be able to buy it from a store regardless of the other posh titles they might boast. The point is that a beautician would recommend and sell you a product specifically suited to your needs.
First Impression:
To be honest I didn't know much about this brand until I found this sample which must have been a gift which I had forgotten about. The name vaguely struck a bell, so I figured it was worth a try.
This mask is for dry skin, it is supposed to soothe and relax the skin, as well as revive and revitalize the complexion.
Upon opening the container the mask has a very strong smell of lavender with a menthol base note.
Application:
It is a Grey paste that spreads on the skin very easily and has an invigorating effect due to the menthol, it is not a thick clay-like paste, but although being semi-thick it is still easy to spread.
I left the mask on for about 10 minutes as the instructions required, and it didn't harden in any way, but rather retains its consistency.
The instructions then said to rinse, which I did with warm water. However, when I looked in the mirror I was no closer to being clean then when I had started. The paste was extremely difficult to wash off, and it took a lot of scrubbing and rubbing with my towel to remove it satisfactory.
This was the negative part of the experience, as my face was now rubbed raw, and any of the beneficial effects were hard to see.
My pores did however feel very rejuvenated and my skin was soft, even if it didn't look like much other then a tomato.
I later found out that on the website it says to wipe off with cotton or a towel, however on the tube I got it only said to rinse.
Price/Value:
I did not buy this sample, but on a search on Amazon I have found that it costs 38 pounds for 50ml, I think this is quite overpriced as it was not much different then other less expensive masks, that were allot easier to remove as well. The 5ml tube lasted me for two masks, so I assume that the 50ml tube would last you a little over two months if you use it twice a week as it suggests.
Conclusion:
Not a product that I would buy, but I did enjoy it for what it was, an expensive skincare product that felt good. I will only give it three stars as there are better masks out there that don't take so much time to remove, and don't cost as much. Read the complete review |
