... SG probably one of the coolest looking guitars there is, and a design that is over 50 years old (this was called the Les Paul when first released). This is the faded model, so the pain is matt rather than a high gloss, but in my opinion it looks better, and the result is it s cheap so is excellent. Peavey Grind NTB6 ... been a bass player for 19 years, and mostly having played 4-string instruments in that time, I hadn t really considered ever using a 6-string bass. I mostly saw extended range instruments as unnecessary and, if I m honest, something of a show-off. Bearing this in mind, when I dropped into a local music shop a year or so ago, I really only picked up the NTB-6 through idle curiosity, never seriously thinking I d be taking it home with me! The first thing that struck me was that the bass felt really organic . The finish on it is oil and wax, rather than varnish or lacquer, and it allows the grain of the wood to be felt as well as seen. Fender Highway 1 Strat HSS RW ... can get confusing with all the Fender models about, and here we have the most confusing model of all, the Highway 1. Confusing why? Well because it s listed as a Made in the USA, and how honest this is another thing. It s alleged that get this stamped on the headstock they do indeed put the guitar together in the USA, however all the parts are made in Mexico. On of the big attractions of the highway models is the finish, instead of thick polly finish it actually has the thing nitro finish (however again this is a half truth as the thing finish is over a thick heaving polly under coat). Fender Classic 50s Stratocaster MN ... is a reissue version of a 50 s era stratocaster. Pricewise (and specswise) this sits above the standard Mexican strats and just below the better speced classic player reissues. This is a mexican made strat. As it s a reissue of the earliest strats this guitar is only available with a maple neck with a vintage neck. These necks have my personal favourite neck profile called a soft V. It is thicker than the modern C profiles and in my opinion a lot more comfortable. For a player used to these modern neckshapes this might take some adjustment.
