Advantages: A great all round guitar that can have many different tones and sounds tweaked out of it.
Disadvantages: Scarcely found new now the American Series is available. A little heavy at times.
The USA standrad Stra is a piece of art you can play. Having been produced originally in 1954 with Leo Fender designing asolid body sequel to the first ever mass produced guitar the Telecaster. Here Leo has excelled himself by creatibng posiibly and probably the most copied design of guitar in the history of music. This guitar is of the American Standard Series and is not to be confused with the new American series which features a few new tweaks. The Strat has an alder or ash body depending on your chosen finish, (be it sunburst or block colours). You have a choice of fretboards being the standard Maple or Rosewood on the typical Maple neck with a skunk stripe down the back. 22 frets are expertly fitted to the fretboard and marker dots beautifully installed along the upper side of the neck. Remember that this neck is that favoured by Joe Satriani! He had a '59 sStrat style neck fitted to his Ibanez signature series guitars which ios now digitized for a perfect neck every time one is produced! Not too thick, not too thin. The body has contouring on the back for the waist (or neck if your name is George Harisson!), and on the top[ right extremity of the body. The body thickness if roughly about 1.5" at its deepest and fits nicely. This model comes with Strap Lock strap buttons and Deluxe American hardware as standrad. The trem (tremolo or vibrato unit) is made from stell with still individual saddles to easy of accurate intonation. The machineheads are Gotoh with fender logo's on them and are chrome. Installed into the white pickguard or scratchplate are three custom shop American Standard single coil pickups connected to a 5 way selector switch. The middle pickup is reverse wound which cancels out the hum generated from single coils when either the bridge and middle or neck and middle pickups are used. Three controls are as standrad, these being one volume and two tone controls. One of the tone controls has
an acclaimed Fender TBX tone circuit installed with it to keep tone to the highest quality possible when at low levels. A Bi-Flez truss rod is installed into the neck meaning that the action and intonation can be set very accurately becuse the neck can bend up or down against the string tension in order to provide as high or low action as possible. Also as part of this masterpiece is a micro-tilt adjustment system where the neck can be titled slighted via the neck plate to provide better action. This guitar sounds beautiful through a clean amp, espeically in the out of phase position (either the middle and neck or middle and briidge pickup configurations). This guitar can also make you smile through valve distrtion and gives beautiful playability.
