Advantages: a classic

Disadvantages: I wrecked it

I saw this guitar in a second hand shop window, I was about fifteen years old, it called out my name and I knew then that regardless of cost, I just had to have it.

I think I traded in an old twelve string and fifteen quid...sorry for the lack of detail but all this happened more than thirty years ago, anyway, the burns (baldwin)bison had been made famous by Hank Marvin in the sixties and what with that wonderful rich sound and those amazing twin horns that gave it that unique and sexy look it just had to be mine.

It was the Baby Bison which was just a little bit smaller than the bison but still with all of the superb features of it's big brother, from the scroll carving on the head down through the incredibly fast fretboard and in to the twin humbucker pickups it was the best thing since sliced bread.

It served me well, a good and faithfull guitar, it holds its tune in all conditions and the action is as fast as any Gibson or Fender I have ever played.

Now a terrible confession and a public apology, during a moment of madness around 1980 I stripped off all of the hardware and decided to take the guitar back to a wood look.....disaster !!! it never looked right after that and I have to confess that for the last twenty years this fabulous classic guitar has been in my loft ...... before you ask, it's not for sale, there are too many memories of gigs and bands and nights of fun that make it something I could never part with, but if anyone knows where I could get it professionaly restored then I would be very grateful for their advice.

Zen, you may be the chap I am looking for .... sorry for the delay in this reply but I only visit this site now and then.

I would appreciate your assistance with the guitar and as it has stood in the loft for ten years then time is not an issue please post again if you would like me to send it to you

madmax, maybe I can help you with your baby bison. I have a guitar workshop in Tavistoc, Devon and a customer has a burns baby bison with dead pickups. I can rewind them myself, but would prefer to have a working example to take measurements from. And maybe I can assist you in the restoration of your burns.
