“ Brand: Epiphone / Guitar Type: Acoustic Guitar „
A hard to come by guitar here in the UK (and especially in Scotland) the now discontinued (and hard to come by anywhere now lol) Epiphone EJ-300S Jumbo Acoustic is a thing of beauty and a joy to behold. The solid top is quite thick and definitely matures with age and the grain chills out a bit. There is much debate over the supposedly limited volume the thing produces especially when compared to it's thinner topped sister guitar the EJ-200 but I find it perfectly useable and not compromised at all. In practice it is miked up or I drop in my Seymour Duncan "Woody" pick-up so volume aint an issue. The moustache shaped saddle and pearlised binding and glorious fret-board inlays give this baby real style. My 300, resplendent in its high gloss Natural finish was also available in Vintage sunburst which looks absolutely fantastic and might tempt you into "Elvis Mode". If I'd had a choice I'd have taken the sunburst but, like I said earlier it's discontinued and so you should snap up any one you can. I believe this guitar was discontinued because it was every bit as good as it's over priced but nonetheless fabulous cousins. Imagine pulling a guitar off the market because it was 'too good' and threatening sales of much dearer brands (deja vu the MIJ copies of the '70's). Would you spend 3 times as much just for the brand? Me neither. You will not be disappointed if your budget can only stretch to an Epiphone EJ-300. To know it is to love it.
