... stone (fret levelling), a simple bolt on neck design meant it was easy to re-align the neck... or even replace it if necessary (impossible on a 'set neck' Gibson or Gretsch unless you were an accomplished luthier with a workshop handy, and a lot of time on your hands). 3 Things That Made Fender Guitars Legendary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are in my opinion 3 reasons why Fender Guitars secured their place at the forefront of guitar manufacture; 1) The simplicity of design that I've already mentioned abo...more

Premium Review Fender Guitars in general: Radio Repairman Who Can't Play Builds Famous Guitars!! (1026 words)

My review of Fender Guitar In General ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I was intrigued when I stumbled upon this subject -and though whole volumes have been written on the various aspects of Fender guitars; having been a pro guitar player and teacher at various times in my life I'd like to add my opinions to this subject. Introduction ~~~~~~~~ Fender guitars are quite simply the best known, most instantly recognisable electric guitars on the planet. Leo Fender (despite the many daft stories that have passed into urban legend) was actually a radio repair man, who got drawn into the world of gigging guitarists and bass players, ...  Read the complete review

Having played the guitar, albeit badly!, for the last 25 years I thought I would share, through a series of reviews, my experiences of the guitars that I have owned. This review is of a guitar that I bought second-hand nearly 10 years ago and still own and love - The Fender Jaguar. About the guitar --------------------- Model: Fender Jaguar Country manufactured: Japan Year: Circa 1980 Colour: Off cream with tortoise shell pick guard The guitar was built by Fender Japan in the 1980's. I'm uncertain of the exact date, though I am told that it is possible to date the guitar by checking its serial number, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fender Guitars in general: The daddies of electric guitar (362 words)

Like many young teenagers, when I first started playing the guitar, I simultaneously became obsessed with Jimi Hendrix- therefore, i HAD to have a Fender Stratocaster, like he played. It was only as I carried on learning, that I realised there was more to Fender guitars than a whammy bar, and a hell of a lot of distortion Originally designed for, and prized by country players for their clean, bright tone, with a dry sustain, the first Fender guitars were born out of the lap steel electric tradition, rather than the archtop acoustic guitar tradition of their main competitor, Gibson, and surprisingly, they proved far more versatile as time and styles ...  Read the complete review

...when it's a De Armond. Okay, so they're owned by Fender, so I say this review belongs here. ;) As some of you will know, De Armond guitars are no more, the company (owned by Guild which is owned by Fender) has recently discontinued it's guitar stock although I believe they're still making pickups and strings etc. BUT...(and this is a very big but) you can still buy the things relatively easily on places like E-bay and those little music shops which are tucked in out of the way places. If you see one, grab one. Because of the discontinuation, these instruments (those which still exist) are being sold off mega cheap - and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fender Guitars in general: Fender USA Strat (114 words)

Mine is a 1999 model. Sunburst finish, maple neck, 22 frets, white pickguard. 3 single coil pickups. 1 volume and 2 tone controls. The neck is very smooth and one of the more thinner ones fender makes, very comfortable. This guitar is most suitable for playing blues and country music on. It has a very nice clean sound to it, and also sounds good with a harsh overdrive/distortion for rock music. This guitar will not cut it for metal though, so if Metallica is your taste go elsewhere. It is good for those SRV, Texas blues tones though. All in all a very good sounding and versatile guitar which will cover all tastes (except metal). ...  Read the complete review

Not too flashy, easy to play, sounds awesome. Not all that comfy to hold and play, looks are an aquired taste

A great all round guitar that can have many different tones and sounds tweaked out of it. Scarcely found new now the American Series is available. A little heavy at times.

quality, amazing sound and good looks quite expensive

True Fender made by Fender, Despite what some say it's good enough for professional use, Not so common as a Korean one but ifinitely better poor electrics to bring down costtremelo can be ropeylooked down on all squiers the same some will think
