...when it's a De Armond.

Okay, so they're owned by Fender, so I say this review belongs here. ;)

As some of you will know, De Armond guitars are no more, the company (owned by Guild which is owned by Fender) has recently discontinued it's guitar stock although I believe they're still making pickups and strings etc.

BUT...(and this is a very big but) you can still buy the things relatively easily on places like E-bay and those little music shops which are tucked in out of the way places. If you see one, grab one. Because of the discontinuation, these instruments (those which still exist) are being sold off mega cheap - and these are simply amazing guitars!

My De Armond is a M75-T in THE most amazing Champagne Sparkle finish with one of those big, heavy Bigsby vibrato attachments. This is a solid guitar, made of Agathis with a maple cap, De Armond made in USA 2k pickups (!) and it sounds amazing - it's a reproduction of the 1960's Guild Bluesbird - and for a Les Paul style, I swear, you can do no better for under a grand. Hey, Chrissie Hynde has one in the same finish as mine - how much better does it get! And I only paid £229 (inc. VAT and shipping) from www.flyingpig.co.uk a couple of months ago. It originally had a list price of £700 (approx) before the discontinuation.

If you're not a mega-rich rock star but want something which absolutely reeks quality, go and search out the deep, dark corners of your rarely frequented music shop or do a search on E-bay. You won't be sorry. I wasn't.
