Advantages: good tone

Disadvantages: frets are too small

My brother recently bought a standard Fender Stratocaster. But me being a big-fingered guy who plays bass found this model somewhat awkward. The frets after the seventh are too close together and I found it impossible to close off power chords. It is a decent instrument if you plan on playing behind the 5th fret. Perhaps if I felt like paying more for a larger more comfortable guitar, I could buy perhaps an American stratocaster but I do not feel that it is necessary to shell out the extra money to buy one. But the Mexican Stratocaster delivers a good tone and if you just want to buy an instrument with the Fender name on it this would be a good idea.
