Advantages: It may come in handy, You might enjoy it, Might have a lifetime of fun with it.

Disadvantages: Might make your fingures bleed, costs to change strings, Can be difficult to learn

6 strings, 12 strings... which is better? On the one hand you can get quite a tasty tone out of a 12 string, but they should really only be used for strumming. When it comes to the 12 strings I don't think they cut it in the lead area, and I’m sure many people will agree with me on that. With a 12 string I find it difficult to bend both the strings to the right note when playing lead. Then again my guitar skills might not be up to scratch.
The 6 strings how ever can be used to get quite a nice tone for both lead and rhythm, depending on what kind of guitar you may be playing. Fendars usually are good for getting a nice sharp sound, which could be good for funk, lo-fi, reggae etc… Were as Gibson’s get a nice, thick, rounded sound. The difference in sound is probably dew to the difference in pickups. Now Gibson’s have humbucker pickups, and most Fendars have single coil pickups. Also these guitars are built differently, Gibson’s are built with the neck and the body as on single part and the Fendars bodies and necks r separate parts fixed together.
If you are just starting out on guitar I would suggest getting a Fendar, or a Fendar copy of some kind because the necks on them are smaller and easier to play. But on a whole both Gibson’s and Fendars are brilliant guitars.
Now 7 string guitars can come in handy depending on what type of music you may be playing. People that want to play nu metal my find 7 strings handy because most nu metal bands use them. Also 7 strings may come in handy if you ever decide to use an alternate tuning, you may find you can get some nice chords from it.
Well if you do decide to buy any of these guitars, you should have a lifetime of fun playing, and if not maybe the guitar isn’t right for you. Maybe bass much easier!

A bit rushed and lacking in structure (perhaps this is because of the early posting hour!) but some useful information in there. Remember to always read what you have written in full before posting to DooYoo, and where possible run the work through a spelling and grammar checker, and you will do well. Spacing between paragraphs won't go amiss either!

By the way, I'm no axe-man but I'm sure it's spelt "Fender"...

Welcome to DooYoo!
