Advantages: floating bridge, on/off pickups, flat neck for easy barring

Disadvantages: It's an active guitar so make sure you unplug the leads after use, so not to drain the battery

Ok, when i started playing the guitar i bought a De Armond M65, which is a bit bog standard, but it was good enough for me. However, i eventually became good enough to appreciate the difference between a good guitar and a bad one. So, i went into the biggest guitar shop near me, intent on buying a Fender Stratocaster, a Mexican being all i could afford. However, after playing the strat and feeling quite happy that it was better than my De Armond and being just about to purchase it. I overheard one of the people who worked at the shop having a conversation with some guy about how good Jackson-Charvel guitars are and how it's a shame they're not still around. I went over to see what they were talking about and in front of me was a Jackson-Charvel Model 4 guitar at £180. The Strat i was about to buy was £329 and from what they were saying i couldn't help but wonder if my prestigious strat was all it was cracked up to be.
I took the Charvel and sat down. I couldn't believe it, this guitar was half the price and my fingers were sweeping across the fret board with much more ease. Barre chords appeared as if by magic, with no muted strings. I had only been playing 5months but this guitar made me feel like a pro. I loved it, every little part of it. The floating bridge, the locking tremlo the on/off switch pick-ups everything.
Ok, if you didn't know, the Model 4 has two single coil pick-ups and a humbucker at the back. However, the beauty of it is that each pick-up can be individually turned on or off. Therefore, you no longer have to fiddlw with volume switches once you have your set-up pefect, just so you can hear what your mother is screaming at you from the door. The Locking tremlo is great for any musician, be them beginners or pros. It cuts down on tuning time and lets you play on after thrashing away for an hour, whilst others are re-tuning. The floating bridge gives you more freedom on the whammy bar for dive bombs and also a sweeter mo
re crisp sound.
I hardly ever use the single coil pickups, as the humbucker is so meaty and powerful, yet it's nice to have them their in case. This guitar has everything you need and a real bargin, for me anyway. I would recommend that you have a play if you see one in a showroom, they not that common but a star buy at £180(second hand.)

Well done, nice little op. Ive got a Performer Flying V, which I bought second hand from a friend. It's not particularly fancy, but I love it! I started with a standard Strat Squire, and I too was amazed at my guitar skill when I first played my Jackson!! Rock Goddess-Oh yes!

Nice. I plan to get myself some sort of jackson, if only for the humbuckers that share half my name. Gear. Good detail and stuff, well done.
