I played one of the Gibson Les Paul Jr. Specials today in my local guitar store. Stumming it unplugged, it had a very strong prescence, good string balanced, chorded well. The neck fits real well in my hand. Plugged into a Marshall JCM2000 TSL 602 combo (just what was available). As with most current Gibson products, the pickups are not really up to snuff. However, the guitar could be quite muscular and also quite gentle & articulate. For only costing ~1000 US Dollars, I think that it is a good guitar, though the pickups should sound better. I would never fill this survey out again, but the guitar is the best i have ever played. - Advantages: inexpensive, awesome sound, the feel of the neck, the tone of the pckups - Disadvantages: No a full Les Paul. Classic, or Standard, or Special.
