Advantages: Shape and looks, Feel, Build quality and price

Disadvantages: awkward to carry, floyd rose for some people

This guitar is extremely good at what it intended for... Playing metal! It has a lovely clean sound as well but i would not recommend it for playing anything other than metal. The tone is heavy, yet sharp and clear. Duncan pickups and jackson guitars seem to complement each other, as perfect partners.

The shape is awesome, both looking and feeling. It is much more comfortable than most standard shaped guitars. The balance is great and once playing, you will find this a very addictive instrument indeed.

The neck is unbelievably smooth for a mid priced guitar, and the action is, lets say, unmatched within the same price range. It also has sharkfin inlays which make it look red hot... if it didnt already! It's Ideal for playing heavy metal riffs, and wailing away with high gain soloing.

Do not be offput by the floyd rose installed on these guitars, they may seem very complex, but strings can be changed with very little effort at all, and the tremelo once fitted with strings is definately very useful, not flimsy or annoying. The locking nuts are vital on these guitars because of the tremelo unit, without them, the guitar would go out of tune easily and not be worthwhile even bothering with.

The knobs can be slightly flimsy out of box on a brand new guitars, but just put them back in place and use a wafer thin screwdriver or sheet of metal and tighten them up, you wont recieve any bother from them again after this! Household objects do the job well enough, no special tools required.

The only major problem i found with the guitar, is that the case that shipped with it was huge, and its very unlikely that ill ever transport it in it, and the guitar due to its shape, wont fit in a standard carry bag thing. If you can deal with this, or need the almost perfect metal guitar like no other, go to your local jackson dealer and pick one of these babies up!
