Advantages: Not Paticulary Heavy

Disadvantages: Good tone hard to achieve amongs other things.

When i picked this bass up i was intrigued at how it would play and feel, i needent of got my hopes up. ive played many basses and if im being honest this probably not one i would recomend to a seasoned bass veteran or a noobie. The bass isnt too heavy which is good for new players because a large heavy bass can cause problems in grasping the instrument ( metaphorically ). i played this bass through 2 amps and found it extremely hard to get a good mixture of sounds with it, if u want a twangy sound that sounds like your playing your bass with metal gloves on and using a fork as a plec then your away with this bass. The muddy low notes that you have come to expect from a well built bass guitar are extremely hard to find on this bass. i have a music man S.U.B ( limitted budget ) with 2 pick-ups and a fender precision which i would play everytime over this bass. the range of sounds available are humorously low. The Build quality on this bass is pretty standard it will take the usual wear and tear of everyday life but dont get me wrong its not a tank i have heard storys of machine heads and tone controls simply falling off. The look of this bass is also quite sketchy although i do belive that the way a bass looks is personal preference, i personally do not like the way this bass looks, from the head-stock to the pointed body and the fretboard i would have designed this one personally. So your probably asking yourself well if your that disapointed why did you buy it? And the answere... i was recomended it by another musician i knew who i wont be trusting for future reference. Upon being asked where he got his information from a few months later he told me he said he saw a guy on Tv talking about it.

Summary: Good for bass collectors who want to own every bass ever built, if your not this try and stay clear.

PS... I've also got a Shergold Marathon fretless (also not touched in years) made I believe by the same people(?? someone correct me on that, please), and that's not much better!

Goodness, Hoax11... some people are VERY thorough in their feedback to your review.

Just to say I enjoyed your review and while I was reading it, I was thinking "blimey, that sounds so familiar!" I have a Burns Baldwin from about 1964 and it is by no means my favourite regarding sound, but it looks great on the wall... which is about all you can say for it, really!

(Note to steerpyke: if you don't pull apart my very sloppy use of the dot dot dots, I shall feel not only left out but that I have not been treated with the seriousness I deserve).
