Advantages: cheap

Disadvantages: poor sound quality, poor design

Now I bought a squier strat as my first electric guitar about 2 years ago, just as I was beginning to learn to play. I though that it would be a nice guitar just to learn on.

However, now, I still have the squier, and think it's pretty much useless. It was ok for a few months, but I quickly outgrew it and began to realize how crap it actually is.

Ok, so it looks quite a lot like a fender strat, but it doesn't sound, or feel, anything like it.

So my advice is, if you're considering buying a squier ... don't bother. You may as well save up a bit more money, and buy something a bit more decent. Try a les paul, personally I think they sound better than strats anyway.

Ditto what the witch said. I own a squire, it's ok for what it does, not so keen on the single coil pickups though and the sound quality is fairly good.

I'm also one of the fortunate who own a Les Paul, much nicer sound, but frankly you could buy half a dozen 'start up' squire kits, including amps, video, axe etc for the price of my LP so they really are in a different league!

Welcome to the site though, read around, rate, comment and get to know us - we're a nice bunch y'know.

Have fun - Fishbulb >><>?™

So, it's bad. Very bad. But why?

I think Vu guitar ops are hard to write, considering the lack of them around here, although I found mine easy enough to write.

You need a LOT more detail. For example, what is the fretboard made of? The body?

What kind of sound does the guitar have overall? Why do you prefer the Les Paul is it the Humbucker pickups? Does the strat sound weedy in comparison? How does each individual pickup sound, and each switch position? Does a big effects unit help, and how are genuine Strats better.

Its also good to note that a Les Paul will set you back at least 800, if people looking to buy guitars could afford that, would they really only be shelling out 200 for an imitation fender?
