Advantages: The name

Disadvantages: Very sterile

Takamini are known for making some fine acoustic guitars, some costing several thousand pound, well this guitar is people's chance to get the name on a budget.

It's a nice electro acoustic (so you can plug it in if needed) with a cut away. Mine was finished in a nice transparent blue, oh and the guitar is finished with some nice inlay work around the sound hole.

To play the guitar is fine, there's no faults, the strings are spaced far enough for finger picking, but not too far apart. The action out of the box was a good medium set up suitable for everything inside of shred and slide.

The sound of the guitar unplugged is again fine, not too much bass (the cutaway ensures this) and enough sparkle to sound pretty when strummed softly. It doesn't quite boom out the noted, but there's enough kick in there for a decent volume.

Plugged in, again the sound is fine, the 3 band EQ allows some adjustment but nothing major.

Now you notice I have used the word fine for most things that's because this guitar is just that. It's fine, it has no faults, but then it has nothing that makes you think I couldn't live without this.

It's a fine guitar just not great, it's almost sterile, it's the guitar equivalent of beige.

Summary: Nothing wrong but nothing outstanding either, its just fine
