Advantages: Sturdy, fantastic sound, looks brilliant
Disadvantages: None really, as it is worth the price
The Tokai USG50 is a premium guitar that was released in 2003, and costs around £600. It comes in a variety of colours and is in the form of an SG model. I purchased one 4 years ago in the colour red.
While it does cost £600, the G50 is outstanding. The three gold pickups on the guitar give it a very mellow and rich sound, perfect for the intermediate player. It also gives the user the ability to customise the settings more than if they owned a normal 2 pickup SG guitar. The gold plating used on these particular pickups also gives a cleaner, but warm sound. This guitar has a very high quality sound, something you would expect for the pricetag.
The finish on this particular model is loveley, as is the choice of wood that has been chosen to make it out of. Mahogany has been chosen with this particular model, which is normally used with premium models like this one here. The shined finish is very nice, and surprisingly durable, so far in the years that I have had it I have not yet chipped off any paint or even really scratched it, this is a delightful bonus.
Although it is an SG guitar (which are known by guitarists to have weak necks), this one has a sturdy mahogany neck, which has failed to show any sign of strain in the years that I have had it, making at a very durable piece of equipment to own, escpecially by the standards of an SG guitar.
So overall I would certainly recommend the G50, for it combines an extra pickup for great sound quality with nice looks and a sturdy build. I would say it is easily worth every penny of the £600 I payed for it a few years ago, 5 stars.
Summary: Definately recommended
