As a brass instrumental teacher in schools a major problem I come across is the problem of mouthpieces being jammed into the instrument. Please be extremely careful when trying to remove a stuck mouthpiece. Never use pliers or grips to free it. As a nine-year old at the time, the main reason I wanted to learn to play the trumpet was because they make so much blimming noise! A couple of lessons down the line and I found that it can be quite hard to make that noise, especially a controlled one.
