Advantages: Versatility, light weight

Disadvantages: Bolted neck means tune can be lost quite easily

For a guitar of such moderate price, the Yahama Pacifica is a must for the more casual player. Whilst it is absolutely ideal for playing at home with a decent amp, it is actually pretty cool for gigs too. The pick-up switch, akin to your conventional Fender Stratocasters, provides some pretty cool sounds and can compliment a decent amp really nicely.

It has the standard humbucker pick-up for the more growly sounds, but is fairly versatile and some more 'Telecaster-y' sounds can be generated with a pick-up change.

One of the nicest things about this guitar (if this is what you prefer), is that it's as light as a feather. I thought i must have ordered the wrong thing when the parcel came for me, or supposed there may have been some serious mix-up with the post. But no, it was just a very light guitar and is fantastic for some swanky stage moves.

A really nice guitar.
