Jerome Russell B Blonde Highlighting Kit
by elladelaney I used the highlighting kit for light to dark brown hair to do all my roots. I have previously used live colour xxl absolute platinum and was getting bored of using it as every time i used it i would leave it on for the maximum time and then id wash it out and my roots would be yellow and bits of it would stay in my hair after washing ... out. Then i would have to do it again to get my hair to the blonde colour that i wanted which would leave my hair extremely dry and in a bad condition. So i thought i would give this a go. I brought 2 boxes as i have long thick hair and had a regrowth of about an inch and a half. It is easy to mix up and comes with a brush to apply the dye. It goes on blue which is nice because it is easy to see and you can see if youve missed any bits. You then put on a plastic cap to help the colour develop. It then has a chart that tells you how long to leave it on for which for me was between 15 and 60 minutes i decided to leave it on for 45mins before washing out. After you have left it on for the desired time you have to rinse your hair with warm water and then use the conditioning shampoo to remove any residues and lock moisture into the hair. The shampoo is fab it foams up loads and a small sachet was enough for my hair. There was no traces of the dye left in my hair and it wasnt dry or in an awful condition. When i dried my hair it wasnt yellow and it was a very light blonde that i wanted. I would definitely use this again and again and i reccomend it to anyone who wants blonde (not yellow) hair that isnt dry or damaged. Read the complete review |

Jerome Russell B Blonde Highlighting Kit
by Blondie I have had so many hair disasters in the past...most being when i have done my hair myself at home. I swore to myself I would never do my hair myself ever again and would always leave it to the professionals. However, I am now a student at university and I simply cant afford to pay £70 to get my full head of highlights. So I decided to ... do some research online to find out which products are recommended. I did not read a bad word about the B Blonde highlighting kit. (Now I can see why!) I decided to give the product a try. My hair is naturally light mousey brown but it has alot of existing blonde hightlights (and a few subtle darker tones through it aswell). My hair has had alot of colour on it in the past and is slightly out of condition. I mainly wanted to use the product to colour the roots and overall slightly lighten my shade. I bought the product in superdrug for £5.99. The kit includes everything you need to highlight hair: instruction leaflet 40 vol cream peroxide powder bleach plastic mixing tray tinting brush highlighting cap metal hook plastic gloves plastic development cap sachet of conditioning shampoo Before highlighting my hair, I did a skin test just behind my ear about 24 hours before using the product. (the instructions say how to do this). Then I did a strand test to work out my development time. I cut a couple of strands from my hair (one from the top, one from the back underneath) i then stuck them to my mirror with selotape and painted on the mixture (half a teaspoon of the power, one and a half teaspoons of the cream bleach). In my case I painted it on the roots first for 25 minutes (the roots are darker than the highlighted ends) then painted it all through the hair for the last 5 minutes. So my total development time was 30 minutes. The strand test is really important because it gives you an indication of how long you need to leave the mixture on to get your desired colour. The next part is virtually impossible to do alone so I got some help from a friend. I brushed my hair away from the front of my face and put the cap onto my head. My friend then pulled strands of my hair through the holes in the cap. The thicker the strands pulled out, the thicker and more streakier the highlights. For a more subtle natural look, pull through thinner strands of hair. I had to mixture of slightly thicker ones and thin ones for a natural look. My friend pulled hair through all the holes along the top and the back and then through random ones at the sides. I then mixed the powder bleach and the cream peroxide together (use all of the sachet of powder and all of the bottle of peroxide). Mix until it is smooth and there are no lumps. My friend then painted the mixture onto my roots and left it for 25 mins. Then for the last 5 minutes she painted it all through the hair. Then i rinsed the bleach off and used the sachet of shampoo provided but also found i needed to use alot of conditioner to make my hair feel in good condition. I achieved the exact result I was looking for and am very satisfied. This is an excellent product and I would recommend it to anyone. Honestly the best blonde at home kit I have used. Jerome Russell B Blonde Highlighting Kit
by Bethyn Every summer, I get the urge to go back to blonde, but I'd been having difficulty getting there. I'd used a few different hair lighteners, but because of a build up of red and black dye in my hair, I'd never been able to get any lighter than a gingery colour. One day, a newly blonde friend recommended Jerome Russell's B Blonde kit to me. ... The pack contains a bottle of peroxide, two sachets of powder bleach, a highlighting cap, a tint brush, a mixing bowl, gloves, a hook (to pull strands of hair through the cap), conditioner and full instructions. I didn't actually use it to highlight my hair, because I wanted an all-over blonde, so I didn't use the the hook or the highlighting cap. I was worried that since the pack was made for highlights, there wouldn't be enough to cover all of my (almost shoulder length, quite thick) hair, but that wasn't a problem. To use, mix the peroxide and bleach together in a bowl. The resulting cream will be blue and fairly thick. It'll smell toxic, but don't worry - that's just what bleach smells like! Apply the mixture to your hair using the tint brush. It's really simple to do, although you might need someone to help you with the back. Just brush the mixture onto your hair, section by section. I always start just below my roots and do my roots last, because roots will turn blonde quicker, especially if the rest of the hair is coloured. Leave it on for the recommended amount of time (up to about 50 minutes, depending on the colour of your hair to start with). You'll see your hair change colour. Once it's reached the desired shade, rinse. It's recommended you do a strand test and a skin test first, to check that you won't have an allergic reaction to the product. To do this, mix a tiny bit of the product in the mixing bowl, snip off a strand of hair and apply the mixture to that strand, and to a piece of your skin (most people recommend the inside of your elbow). Leave the dye on the strand of hair for the recommended time before rinsing, and leave it on your skin for at least 24 hours. If the colour turns out the way you want and you don't have an allergic reaction, you're fine to carry on. The excellent thing about this product is that you can easily just mix a tiny amount of it - you can just screw the lid back on the peroxide bottle, and clip up the open bleach packet with a paperclip or a peg. Once you're finished with the application, rinse your hair thoroughly - it can be difficult to get it all out. Either shampoo and then use the conditioner provided, or just use the conditioner (or do what I do and shampoo and condition with your normal products, and then use the special conditioner as well. I have very dry hair, especially after bleaching, so it needs all the conditioning it can get!). A really great thing about Jerome Russell is that you can buy the components separately. In Bodycare, a bottle of peroxide is around £1.30, and a box containing four sachets of bleach is about £3. When I touch up my roots, I use two sachets of bleach and one bottle of peroxide, the same amount I used in the original application, so a box of bleach sachets will last me for two root touch ups, so when it's time to do your roots, it's more sensible to buy them separately than buy the highlighting kit. The mixing bowl and brush from the highlighting kit can be reused when you're doing your roots, and if you are doing highlights, the hook and cap can be reused as well. I am hooked on Jerome Russell's blonding products now. It's great to finally have my hair blonde again - and after using this product, it IS blonde, rather than orange! Since my hair was already orange when I started out, if you're starting with very dark hair, it may take a couple of applications to get it a light blonde (wait a week between applications for the sake of your hair - I went through a period of using various lightening products daily for about a week in my desperation to go blonde and ended up with serious damage), but you will get there. This is the only product that managed to take my hair from orange to blonde. This pack tends to cost between £5 and £6 and is extremely good value for money, considering the number of things you get. Other brands will charge you the same price or more just for the dye, but with this you get the highlighting caps, hook, etc, too, and it does actually work! I'm so satisfied with this that I've actually kept my hair blonde for 10 months now, and I usually change my hair colour every month or two! Read the complete review |
