Palmolive Naturals Brilliant Color Shampoo
by cazkins
I like to look for bargains when it comes to hair care even though I tend to only buy brands. I came across Palmolive's Naturals Brilliant Colour Shampoo and decided to give it a go for the price, feeling confident it should be decent quality as it's a brand with years of experience in the beauty industry. Whilst it was nice to use, it ... didn't do much for the colour in my locks.
This can be bought in a large oval shaped 400ml red plastic bottle with flip top lid. It's easy to identify with the 'Palmolive' logo near the top, underneath which is the variety, 'Brilliant Colour'. This is designed for coloured hair and it's described as containing a 'caring formula' that 'helps to protect and nourish your hair keepings its brilliant colour shine'. It does this by a blend of jojoba oil, UV-filter and pomegranate extract, enabling you to, apparently, 'shine with life'.
The shampoo itself is creamy and white-ish in colour, and the first thing I noticed when putting some into my hand was the sweet, fruity scent that I instantly liked. It has a good consistency that's neither too thin or too thick, meaning just a small blob is needed to lather with some warm water in your hair, using this as any normal shampoo. It lathers fairly well and gives good coverage so the bottle lasted me quite a while. Using it is really nice, in part thanks to the smell, so it left me feeling a little pampered without much effort.
The shampoo rinses out easily and I don't find it leaves any residue, which is always a bonus. All I really want from a shampoo is for it to be at least pleasant to use, quick and for it to leave my hair feeling freshly washed. This shampoo does just that, leaving my hair feeling clean and refreshed, and me a little uplifted thanks to the fruity smell that lingers afterwards. As for the effect on my hair itself, I would say it's left with a little shine but I never really noticed a great improvement in terms of its softness or colour retention. Unfortunately, this wasn't a shampoo that gave me the superstar hair I always dreamed of! Not that I had expected it to, but it's a little disappointing if you want something to keep the dye looking fresh for longer, because this didn't seem to do much for my red hair, which faded just as quickly as normal.
All in all, this is a decent all-around shampoo that's lovely to use because of the sweet scent, but I can't recommend it for keeping colour shining. For £1, however, it's a good one to try and 400ml goes a long way, hence the 4 stars.
This can be bought for the bargain price of £1 in, you guessed it, Poundland (400ml)! Read the complete review |
