Tesco Family Hairspray
by brady58
Hair spray is something that I tend to use on a daily basis as I have horrible hair which needs kept under control. I have my favourite brands but to be honest anything will do in a pinch especially if I am having to stick to a budget and can't afford the more expensive ones which tend to be my favourites.
I have used the ... Tesco Value hair spray before and thought it was rubbish but as is so usually the case if you are only willing to spend a few more pennies then you can get something much better. The Tesco Family hair spray is still cheap but so much better than the value version. It only costs 70p for a 300ml can.
I like to use hair spray to keep my hair from being flyaway in the wind but also I like to spend some time styling my hair and I find that I need a little hair spray to keep my style in place and to help set it such as with curls where I spray a little hair spray on the stand I am curling while it is on the curling tongs or straighteners and the hair spray helps keep the curls from falling out and going straight again.
This hair spray gave decent hold and it kept my hair in place without being too obvious. It was much more natural looking than the value one and it didn't make my hair crunchy or look like I was wearing gel.
The hold was firm but it wasn't too firm so my hair still moved and had plenty of life and bounce to it without being stiff and not moving. I am not sure I would use this if it was really windy outside but I would use it again if the weather was calm.
It was easy to brush out of my hair and it didn't leave my hair feeling too dry. Over all it was a good hair spray for the money. I could tell while using it that it wasn't a premium one though as it did lack things like extra shine and gloss which more expensive hair sprays give but for the money I really can't complain. I will stick with other hair sprays but I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again if money was tight and I needed something cheap but decent. Read the complete review |

Superdrug Firm Hold Hairspray
by basketofbuttons
I've been using Superdrug's own brand of Firm Hold hairspray since my last tin from Tesco's ran out. I kept looking in Tesco's for ages to replace the one that had ran out, but all the Firm Hold tins were sold so I popped along the road to Superdrug and bought one of theirs instead. This hairspray comes in a choice of two sizes, the ... smaller one costing only 79p for a 75ml tin and the larger one (which I bought) at £1.19 for a 300ml tin. The smaller can wouldn't have lasted me two minutes so opted for the larger one as hairspray is something I use on an everyday basis.
Using this hairspray is just like using my usual can of Tesco's. The can delivers a nice fine layered mist over my hair and the smell is very pleasant. It's not an overpowering smell but it's delicately fragranced and smells slightly floral. I like the fact that I don't have to keep on holding the tin rigidly upright while I'm using this hairspray. By that, I mean that if I want to use the spray underneath my hair at the back, to give it a bit of volume, then the spray still comes out of the can in a fine mist even if I am holding it at a slight angle. I have trouble in doing this with my usual tin of Tesco's hairspray.
The hairspray dries pretty quickly and it doesn't leave my hair feeling wet or clogged. It has the ability to hold my style in place all day long and whilst it's not the firmest hairspray in the world, it works sufficiently well for me and if I choose to put my hair up in my clippie and then spray with this hairspray afterwards, I am usually confident that my style will be effectively held in place throughout the entire day.
This hairspray is also enriched with Provitamin 5 which is designed to help make my hair look extra healthy and shiny whilst holding my style in place. I don't think my hair looks any shinier when I use this hairspray, but I can vouch for the fact that it does a fantastic job at holding my hair in place all day long. I also like the fact that this hairspray doesn't clog up my hair or leave it feeling like it's coated with a thick mass of spray. It both brushes and washes out well and my hair looks natural and has movement throughout the day, but the style is effectively held in place.
To be honest, I am glad that Tesco's ran out of my usual hairspray when they did, otherwise I might never have got around to trying this Superdrug hairspray out at all. I am so pleased I did, and I would say it's up there with my favourite brands now.
Highly recommended. Read the complete review |

MOP C-System Spray Pomade
by MEL0611
When ever I go to the hairdressers I never achieve the finished look that they always seem to manage. I have brought a number of hair care products over the years and as my hair is really difficult to work with I have to try quite a few in order to try and achieve a look! The product that I am going to be reviewing today is my Mop Spray ... Pomade. This is a spray that helps achieve a definition and shine to hair. I have recently started using this spray as I have been growing my hair for some time now and I like to keep it looking healthy and well maintained and as I have used Mop products in the past as well as my hairdressing using this product on my hair I made the investment and here are my thoughts on it.
The Mop shine spray will cost you around the £10.00 mark and this is for the 150ml bottle. The Mop brand is not one that is available on the high street, it is more of a specialist hair care product and it can be found in hair salons but not regular shops on the high street. it can also be found online and it is online that I have found the product to be at its cheapest. Places like HQ Hair, Amazon and Make up alley as well as the Mop website will all stock the spray. I don't think that the £10.00 price tag is to bad considering this isn't a high street product and is more of a luxury hair care brand.
The bottle that the spray comes in is bright orange in colour and it has white writing on the bottle. There is a pump dispenser at the top of the bottle. The writing on the front has the Mop logo and the name of the product and the bottle size. it is on the reverse of the bottle where you will find all of the information that you will need on the product. There are directions for use, a list of the ingredients that have been used and further information on the product. We are told by the Mop brand that the product will 'add pliable definition and shine to all hair lengths with effortless application. Excellent for use on layered, textured and longer hair. This description is like ready about my hair, textured and now long I needed to add the shine into it.
With the pump dispenser, we are told that we need to mist the spray, lightly onto dry hair. It needs to be applied 6 inches from the scalp in sweeping motions and then you need to work the spray through your hair with your hands until the desired look is achieved. The first thing that you will notice is the lovely scent that the spray has, soft and perfumed but light that it is not to artificial, the spray does come out as a fine mist and as the instructions state, do hold this 6 inches away as it will be harder to style and you will have the mist on a more concentrated area. The spray soon settles and then you can begin working through the hair.
I find that the results are really noticeable. The layers in my hair are really defined and there is a healthy shine to my hair that was not there before. My hair is not greasy form using this but just glossy looking. Using just a serum on damp hair isn't always enough for my frizzy locks! The serum controls this but this adds the shine that my longer hair is sometimes missing! I would be more than happy to recommend this product and I think it makes a really definite difference.
5 out of 5 from me on this one
