“ Brand: Avon / Sprays / Type: Hair Spray / Product line: Avon Advance Techniques „
What you essentially want from a hairspray, in my opinion, is something that will hold a hairstyle without making your hair look like its been coated in something sticky. This hairspray manages to successfully do both. I've found it lasts for hours on a hairstyle, adding to volume, and yet it definitely has a brush out effect and doesn't look greasy.
My favourite thing about this product is weirdly the smell. It's a gorgeous feminine fragrance, slightly smelling of berries if I had to label it as anything. Most hair-sprays have a smell that can only really be described as mildly toxic, which generally lingers in the room for minutes after use and really leaves a bad taste in the throat. It's a nice benefit which comes along with this hair-spray that it just doesn't do that.
I think I paid £1 for this hairspray in a deal in an Avon catalogue and I couldn't be happier paying that price for it, as in general comparison with other like quality hair sprays it definitely counts as cheap.
Without a doubt, I think this is the best deal for effective hairspray you can get and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone on a budget and not wanting a cheap, ineffective sticky mess - what you usually get from cheap hair sprays (usually supermarket brands).
This is a hairspray I have, which is from the Advance Techniques range at Avon. It normally costs £3.25 but is on offer quite a lot so look out for some good deals if you do want to buy this.
You can see the bottle in the picture so I won't go into too much detail, basically it looks just how it does in the picture except to me the red lid is a bit brighter red but I don't know if thats just the computer screen.
This is for spraying on your hair while your hair is dry, and after you have styled it into the look you want. You spray this on to hold the hair in place and keep it how you have styled it.
This works well, I think. It holds my hair up nicely and unlike some of the other advance techniques range (shampoo and conditioner come to mind) it doesn't do any damage to my hair whatsoever. It is a great hairspray at a good price.
This also smells really nice, a lovely fresh smell that lasts all day long.
Avon do a few different ranges of hair products designed for specific purposes. The Avon Advanced Techniques Styling Finish It Hair spray is one of their finishing/styling products.
I love the packaging on this range, it is very simplistic - two colours, red and white and is very minimalistic. It reminds me of some very high end designer products and looks great (i.e. expensive) sitting on the bathroom shelf. The can itself is white with red and black writing. The lid/top is bright red, it twists to lock which I find a really thoughtful feature as when your travelling there is no risk of it getting over your clothes.
I found the product a little difficult to use at first. You need to depress the top very hard to get it to start spraying. I later found (after pushing a little too hard) that there is a verys tiff internal seal, if you push through this - does take a good bit of force - then it is easier to spray from then on, I have found this with a number of different cans of the spray so I don't think it was just a fault.
The spray is nice and fine which makes it easier to get an even coverage. The smell is a little sweet but fades very quickly. I find the product works really well to create a little style, nothing too outrageous as there are other more suitable products for that, but for example, I spray it on and while still wet shake my fingers through the area to make my layers sit a little messy giving great life to my hair. I also find the spray really good if you tip you head upside down and spray to give a little volume.
This finishing spray has fantastic staying power. Avon do claim that it is a flexible hold but I would class it more as a firm hold. I found it quiet difficult to brush out so now just wash it out. The product isn't sticky like some finishing sprays either.
The price on this varies between brouchers but you can generally pick it up for around £1.50 and this will easily last a month with every day use. So great value for a product that works well.
