      chemical blueberries again?!

      I'm currently using the Alberto Balsam 'Blueberry' Conditioner & Shampoo. I'm not brand loyal when it comes to conditioners & shampoos, I'm happy to use whichever products happen to be on offer or seem to be the best value.

      The Alberto Balsam range of conditioners & shampoos are available in most supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug, Poundland etc, and they normally retail at just £1 each. I picked these up from Tesco, where they're currently on a '2 for £1.80' offer.

      The Blueberry conditioner comes in a 400ml bottle. It's quite a runny and liquid conditioner, and its a lovely light baby blue colour. It states that it contains blueberry and ginseng extracts, and that it gives extra nourishment for coloured or damaged hair. I always colour my hair, so this seemed perfect for me.

      As with most conditioners the directions for use are simple; ''after you've shampooed, use a good size dollop of conditioner, we find it works best to leave it on for 1-2 minutes, rinse your hair thoroughly, ta-da, fabulously soft, shiny hair''.
      I do use more than 'a good size dollop' of any conditioner, I always use a HUGE dollop of conditioner, and I always get through two bottles of conditioner to every one bottle of shampoo. I use the matching Blueberry shampoo prior to using this conditioner.

      I find that this conditioner is a little bit fiddly to apply to my long hair in the shower as it is quite a liquid conditioner, I normally prefer a thicker conditioner as it seems to 'stick' to my hair a bit more and therefore is easier to apply. I always leave this in for much more that the stated 1-2 minutes as I wash and condition my hair first in the shower, and then do all the other things such as; having a shower, shaving my legs, etc, and then I rinse this off whilst I rinse my shower gel off. Admittedly most of it has kind of slid out of my hair by this point though! This rinses out well, but it does still feel as though my hair has a slight coating of the conditioner left on it after I've rinsed it all out, in a good way not a bad way though.

      Once I get out of the shower my hair is easy enough to comb through after using this conditioner, I still have the odd tangle, but nothing too major. Once my hair is dry it definitely feels and looks very healthy and clean, and it is lovely and super soft and shiny after using this conditioner. I also find my hair to be just as easy to style after using this conditioner.

      Although this conditioner works well I do find that the fragrance is very offputting, it's quite a chemically fragrance, and it certainly doesn't smell like blueberries. I actually bought it along with my food shopping online, and so I didn't sniff it instore, had I done so I probably wouldn't have added it to my trolley. Fortunately the fragrance doesn't linger in my hair for very long, it does linger long enough to put me off buying it again though.

      So, although this does work well, and it is very good value, I wouldn't repurchase as I really don't like the fragrance. Also the fairly liquid consistency of the conditioner meant that for me it wasn't actually the easiest conditioner to use.

        Disadvantages

        Cheap and cheerful - but not for me

        Blueberry blues
        ~~~~~~~~~~
        If you have read my review for the shampoo that goes with this conditioner, you'll know I was less than impressed! But I had to try out the conditioner that went with it. The shampoo dried my hair out quite a bit so it was even more essential that the conditioner performed well and softened my hair up!
        Alberto Balsam shampoos and conditioners come in at just £1 for a 400ml bottle. They come in a range of fruity fragrances.
        ~~~~~~~~~~~
        A bit more subtle
        ~~~~~~~~~~~
        I didn't like the smell of the shampoo in this range. Thankfully, however, the smell of the conditioner was a bit more subtle and I didn't find it as sickly as the shampoo. So that was a relief to begin with! It has a fruity scent of course, but it is quite toned down which is good, so it is less offensive than the shampoo.
        The texture of the conditioner is creamy but not very thick - this did worry me as I have curly hair that can be dry and frizzy so I do like my conditioners to be rich and creamy as my hair needs the moisture and TLC!
        I left this on my hair for a few minutes, as I do with any conditioner, and it washed away easily. It did leave my hair feeling quite soft, but definitely noticeably less soft than with other conditioners I use. After leaving my hair to dry naturally, as I always do, I did feel that my hair wasn't as soft as with other products. It felt quite dry at the ends, and wasn't as easy to manage as usual. Also, no smell lingered at all really - which I wasn't too bothered about, but again I have used other haircare products that leave behind a lovely fragrance.
        ~~~~~~~~~~
        In summary ...
        ~~~~~~~~~~
        I am going to give this three stars - so a step up from the shampoo! It is an ok conditioner but not for me - I need something richer. But it is cheap and I am sure will do the job for people with hair that isn't as difficult to manage as mine. But it isn't one I would buy again - and in fact I gave my bottle away along with the shampoo!
        Advantages
        Disadvantages
        Wouldn't recommend
        I feel like a right blueberry. Suckered in by the antioxidant promises, I hoped that this would tackle the colouring damage I had caused to my hair a few weeks before. It's pretty much the same as all the other shampoos and conditioners in this range, apart from the contents being a luscious pale blue. It works the same as most conditioners, use after shampoo, apply tip upwards, rinse after a few minutes, and await the results!
        As I squeezed a dollop into my hand, I have to admit I was put off by the smell. Unlike other conditioners by this brand, it smells rather chemically, not much like blueberries at all! The texture of it is also quite runny, but this actually makes it far easier to work into the hair.
        I could feel the difference the second I started to rinse. My hair literally glided through my hands as I rinsed out the conditioner and I couldn't wait to dry it.
        It was easy to comb through, easy to dry, though the chemical smell did linger on my hair and get a bit stronger as I did so.
        I was a tad disappointed by the results, I think I got my hopes up a bit. My hair didn't look a great deal different, thought it did feel softer. It did a good job. I just didn't get the glossy, damage free result I thought I might.
        Can't say I'll use it again or recommend it. It's cheap smelling, quite artificial, and doesn't live up to expectations.
        Advantages
        Disadvantages
        a great conditioner
        I love the Alberto Balsam range of shampoos and conditioners, I decided to pick up the Blueberry conditioner to try it out as I am so happy with the other products on the range.
        Scent
        This conditioner smells obviously like blueberries, it has quite a sweet scent to it, though it isn't over sickening and still has a fresh feeling to it. I really like that the scent of this conditioner lingers in my hair for quite a while after I have washed my hair. I will be honest though, it isn't my favourite Alberto Balsam scented shampoo, I prefer the coconut one, but that is just personal preference and the conditioner still does smell lovely.
        Application
        This conditioner is really simple to apply, you simply take a little dollop in your hands after washing your hair and then you smooth it over it, concentrating on the ends. I do not like to put this conditioner anywhere near my roots as I find that it makes them quite heavy and then it is very hard to get volume into my hair when I am styling.
        Results
        After conditioning my hair with this conditioner I found that my hair was really easy to comb through, once I had brushed through it and blow dried it, I found that my hair was really clean and healthy looking. I was really impressed with how shiny and silky my hair was when I used this conditioner.
        This conditioner has anti oxidant qualities, and it claims to provide extra nourishment for coloured or damaged hair. I did find that my hair was in great shape when I used this conditioner, especially after a few washes and I was quite surprised at how well it performed as it is so cheap to buy.
        The scent from this conditioner lingers nicely in my hair for quite a while after using, I have been complemented by different people in work about how nice my hair smelt and recommended it to quite a few of them.
        Price and Availability
        You can buy this conditioner in Tesco for around £1, which is a fantastic price. A bottle lasts me just over 10 washes usually, which is a good week and a half to two weeks, so I definitely think I get my monies worth out of it.
        Overall
        I think that this is a fantastic conditioner, it isn't my favourite Alberto Balsam scent, but it is still really nice and it has anti oxidant properties (which the coconut scented conditioner does not). I think that this is a great buy and is a fantastic every day conditioner for general use. Overall I would give this conditioner 4 out of 5 stars.
        ~*~ The Purchase ~*~
        My local Tesco often has the Alberto Balsam shampoo & conditioner on offer so I almost always pick a few bottles up when I'm doing my grocery shopping. I've tried a few of the different scents, with one of my favourites being the blueberry scented conditioner, it's lovely!!
        ~*~ Price ~*~
        A generously sized 400ml bottle of this conditioner retails at just £1.00 and it is also on offer quite often - Tesco are currently running a 2 for £1.80 promotion on all of the Alberto Balsam shampoo and conditioner but even when it's not on offer its still very affordable and incredibly good value for money.
        ~*~ Packaging ~*~
        The packaging is really simple - a rounded cylinder shaped bottle made from sturdy plastic. The bottle is quite bulky and due to the shape I find it quite hard to grip when I have wet hands, but this isn't too much of a disadvantage. The bottle has a black flip lid which comes in handy and the dispenser hole prevents too much product from coming out at once.
        ~*~ My Opinion ~*~
        I love the scent of this conditioner and although it definitely isn't quite as nourishing and softening as my more expensive conditioners, it does leave my hair feeling smooth and quite silky and it always looks clean and healthy after using it. I have quite dry hair as I straighten it daily and although this isn't very moisturising it is not at all drying.
        The conditioner is thicker than I expected but it is still a little runny and it smells nice and fruity with the blueberry scent being easy to detect. The smell is quite strong but it doesn't linger for very long in my hair. I've found that with some cheap conditioners they smell really overly sweet and artificial but this doesn't, although I wouldn't describe the smell as natural either.
        I've also found that some cheap conditioners aren't great value for money because a lot is needed for good coverage, but a large blob of this is enough to cover my shoulder length hair. It washes out well and there is never any sticky or greasy residue left behind. I've had my bottle of this for around a month now and there's still over 3/4 of a bottle left so its great value for money.
        ~*~ Overall ~*~
        A cheap conditioner which is excellent value for money. It smells nice, leaves my hair feeling smooth, silky and clean and I highly recommend it.
        5/5 Stars.
        Advantages
        Disadvantages
        I only brought it because it was cheap and matched the Shampoo.
        *~*~ Why did I buy it? ~*~*
        I am currently trying really hard to save a bit of money on the weekly shopping bill, with Christmas on the horizon and the lack of a pay rise each year my pennies have to stretch a little further.
        Lurking on the reduced shelf in my local Tesco I found a 400ml bottle of Alberto Balsam Anti-Oxidant Blueberry Conditioner and its matching Shampoo for 50p each, I popped them immediately in my basket as it is a brand I have used before with reasonable results and 50p a bottle is the cheapest I had ever found it.
        *~*~ A bit about it ~*~*
        The Conditioner is aimed at coloured or damaged hair, my hair is not coloured but with the turn to cooler weather I feel it could do with a little extra nourishment each day.
        The bottle is the standard Alberto Balsam bottle, which, annoyingly, is not pictured in the DooYoo catalogue, the same as the Shampoo. It is quite a slim bottle made of clear frosted plastic with a black plastic flip top; therefore the contents are easily viewable. On the front of the bottle is a picture of Blueberry's. The bottle tells me that the Conditioner contains Blueberry and Ginseng extract and that my hair will smell as good as it feels. The bottle is identical to the Shampoo in every way and can easily be muddled up with the Shampoo when in the shower with no glasses on.
        *~*~ Smoothing out the kinks, or just emptying my pocket? ~*~*
        The Conditioner is used in the usual way, after Shampooing squirt a reasonable sized blob into the palm of your hand and smooth it through your hair, I concentrate on the mid length and ends as my roots have a tendency to get greasy quite quickly. After skipping Conditioner yesterday to review the Shampoo on its own it is nice to be able to use Conditioner.
        The Conditioner is not the thickest I have come across, it has the consistency of cheap yoghurt. The fragrance is very strong and smells fruity. Again, like the Shampoo I can not honestly say it smells like real Blueberries. It smells very artificial, like Blueberry squash would smell, and unlike the Shampoo it has more of a chemical edge. The Conditioner smoothes through my hair easily, it does have a tendency to slide of my hair and plop into the bottom of the shower, good job it's cheap. It also takes a while to rinse out. My hair is left feeling very smooth.
        When I towel dry my hair it comes out relatively knot free and is easy to comb through, again I leave my hair to dry naturally. As my hair dries it feels a bit lank, as though there is some residue from the Conditioner left behind. When my hair is fully dry it looks quite shiny and smooth but feels a bit strange, as though it has been thickened. My hair brushes nicely and seems to have a bit of extra volume.
        As with the Shampoo I can not smell the scent of the Conditioner on my hair, which is a bit strange for such a strong smelling product.
        *~*~ Final thoughts ~*~*
        A 400ml bottle is good value at the rrp of a £1 so for 50p a bottle I find it a little hard to pick fault. The Conditioner does an ok job, I find its yoghurt consistency a bit strange and I am left puzzled by the lack of scent once my hair is dry. My hair is left soft and shiny but I am unsure about the feeling that the Conditioner did not rinse out fully.
        Overall I would say that the Conditioner is not as good as the Shampoo, I would buy it again if I found it really cheaply but otherwise it would have to stay on the supermarket shelf.
        Thank you for reading.
          Advantages
          Disadvantages
          I won't be buying this one again
          I like to have a couple of back up shampoos and conditioners in my house as when I run out of things I do tend to take a while to remember to buy some more and also my hair seems to get used to shampoos and conditioners and then they don't work aswell.
          I always use a matching shampoo and conditioner apart from using a medicated shampoo and so I bought this to match the shampoo when I saw them on a 4 bottles for £3 offer which I think is great value. I have used many of the Alberto Balsam range and never found one I wasn't keen on until this.
          The conditioner comes in a plastic frosted style bottle with a flip top black lid which is easy enough to open even with wet hands after it has been used a few times. On the front of the bottle there is a picture of loads of little blueberries and it states that this is for coloured or damaged hair and has blueberry and ginseng extract.
          On the back of the bottle you have the directions for use and a list of ingredients along with the claims that it deeply conditions and protects, replenishes lost moisture and adds shine and finally strengthens with pro vitamin B5.
          Inside the bottle the conditioner is a paler blue then the shampoo and has a creamy look to it, the conditioner is pretty thick so you don't need a lot and it works through your hair easily which of course is what you need to do after you have shampooed your hair. The bottle tells you to leave the conditioner on for 1-2 minutes so I tend to get washed whilst it is on my hair.
          I always use the conditioner along with the shampoo and have found that the products leave my hair soft but I didn't feel that my hair was any nicer than when using any other products and also although the product smells nice when it is in the bottle I do not like it when it has rinsed out of my hair as it smells like cat wee in my opinion.
          I will give this product 3 stars out of 5 as the smell of course is only my opinion and the product does leave hair soft and is great value but it isn't one I will be using again.
          Advantages
          Disadvantages
          A 5 star conditioner :)
          I have recently published a review on the shampoo of this brand, I decided to buy the conditioner aswell as the shampoo to take abroad with me as they were cheap and looked very appealing! They were also smaller bottles so it was less weight to take abroad to avoide extra baggage charges! I have been really impressed with this conditioner as it dealt with all the usually holiday issues with hair, such as dryness and chlorine issues. I will now go into a little more detail on this product and explain why I think you should try it too, it will take a lot of money off of your shopping bill!
          Price/bottle:
          The price of this product is only £1. I got mine from tesco but you can get it from a lot of places, you can also get it from the pound shop. ( there are many different varieties, I have tried others too). The bottle contains 400ml of conditioner which makes it very cheap compared to other brands. It can be expensive to find a decent conditioner and I am pleased to have found this product! The bottle is easy to use and only a small amount will come out when squeezed which means to can get out a little or a lot as desired. Overall the product is very well designed and it looks Great, it has blueberries as an image and is blue with a black lid. Dooyoo doesn't have an image up but take my word for it, it's good looking! :)
          The conditioner:
          It is very good and much better than expected. It is easy to apply and you don't need to much to apply to your hair for a good coverage. It has a great smell which lasted a long time after use, you get a lovely waft of blueberries every so often which is great. After swimming it left my hair feeling very soft and nice. Some products didn't make my hair feel nice after using conditioner but this did. My hair was shiny and I found it easy to apply products into.
          Overall:
          This was a great conditioner for a fraction of the price of the other products on the shelf. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a cheaper conditioner, it smells great and leaves hair feeling very soft and nice. This gets 5 stars from me as I haven't found anything to complain about as yet, I will be using this for a long time into the future! I'm really happy with This. Thanks very much for reading my review, I really hope it helped you decide on a new codnitioner. Josh
          Advantages
          Disadvantages
          A good conditioner for a very reasonable price.
          I am currently exploring the range of Alberto Balsam shampoos and conditioners having been very impressed by their Tea Tree Tingle and Mint variety which has worked well for my husbands greasy hair and also for my tough grey/dyed blondish dry hair. Leaving himself happily using both the shampoo and conditioner I have opted for the new Blueberry anti -oxidant conditioner with extracts of blueberry and ginseng which claims to give extra nourishment for coloured and damaged hair, just the thing for me.
          The Alberto range comes in a simple no -nonsense slightly frosted, cylindrical bottle with a black flip up top. You can see the level and the colour of the conditioner through the bottle which in this case is a rather attractive sort of duck egg blue with a bit of purple in it. On the front is a toning photo of blueberries and this, coupled with silver and black detailing gives an attractive, fresh feel to the packaging.
          On the reverse it tells us that blueberries are a super fruit are not only good for us to eat but great for our hair as well and that Alberto uses most of the ingredients that more expensive brands use but a a much more affordable price. Along with deeply conditioning and protecting it replenishes moisture and adds shine whilst strengthening with pro-vitamin B5.
          A Head full of Berries.
          After washing a rinsing your hair , flip open the top of the container. The first thing that will greet you is the really fruity, almost Ribena scent! It certainly packs a punch but in a nice way. You are directed to put a good dollop of conditioner on your hair and work it through. The consistency is quite thick and I find I need to give the bottle a bit of a squeeze and a shake like a sauce bottle. It is easy to massage through your hair and now you really do get the fruity scent. I do like the scent and leave the conditioner on for two or three minutes as suggested then, it easily rinses away with warm water without leaving any residue.
          Does it work.?
          It does smooth my rough, dyed hair well and leave it soft and shiny so I would think that for anyone with more shall we say, usual hair,( I hate the word normal, nobody is normal we are all unique!) It would work very well. I love the scent and wish that it would last a bit longer, it does last until the next day though and for a conditioner costing just over 1.00pounds for 400ml I think it is great value ,you could pay a lot more for for similar results. I shall be buying the matching shampoo next time I go through Morrisons.
          5 stars from me , a jolly good conditioner!
          Readily available in supermarkets , bottle is recyclable and the contents last 12months after opening.
          Thanks for reading my review which may also be posted on Ciao under splishsplash. Made by Unilever, if you get it in your eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
            Advantages
            Disadvantages
            A brilliant conditioner at a great price
            Alberto Balsam is the brands that my mam tends to stick to for shampoos and conditioners because they're so affordable but do the job. The only ones we hadn't tried until recently were the blueberry ones so that's what she bought the last time she was stocking up and I'm so glad she did because I think the conditioner is great! And of course it's great value as always at just £1 a bottle.
            The bottle is the same as others in the range, a clear bottle with a black lid. It looks nice and not as cheap as you would expect of something at this price. The lid is easy to open and makes it very easy and convenient to use in the shower.
            It's a fairly thin, runny conditioner just like the others I've used in the Alberto Balsam range. It feels smooth and creamy but because of the consistency you wouldn't really expect it do that much.
            It's easy to massage into the hair and I don't need to use much because it spreads through easily. It also rinses out really easily and doesn't leave a residue in my hair. The smell is quite a nice blueberry smell but it's not natural at all which is a shame because all the other Alberto Balsam conditioners I've used have smelt really natural and lovely.
            As soon as I've used this before I've even dried my hair I can tell it's made a massive difference to my hair, it just feels so smooth it's unreal. Once it's dry my hair feels soft, smooth and sleek and it looks really smooth and shiny but amazingly for my fine hair it doesn't look flat or feel weighed down at all. Usually when a conditioner smooths my hair to this extent it makes my hair greasy much quicker than normal and it starts to look really flat and lank by the end of the day, but with this my hair is clean and light all day.
            This conditioner is meant for coloured hair and mine is only highlighted and not dry or damaged but it still has an amazing effect on my hair so I can only imagine it would really help with damaged coloured hair.
            Advantages
            Disadvantages
            Lovely smell, nourishing and great value for money
            ~The look of the product~ (this review may be much like my review of the shampoo I reviewed earlier)
            This 400ml bottle is an opaque bottle where you can see through to the pastel blue colour, I find that most alberto balsam products do tend to look fairly cheap so have often been put off from buying them. Anyway..........The front of the product shows the many claims of the shampoo such as, "New" "anti-oxidant" "conditioner with blueberry & ginseng extracts" and "extra nourishment for coloured or damaged hair" The back of the bottle is fairly modern compared to the front of the bottle, with its modern font and layout and continues to explain the benefits of the product, "Blueberry, the 'superfruit' packed full of anti- oxidants is now great for your hair too. Perfect for when your hair needs a bot of extra nourishment, this blueberry & ginseng conditioner deeply conditions to protect and restore shine, leaving your hair looking and feeling fabulous! It uses most of the ingredients you'll find in higher priced brands but at an affordable price which means you can look great every day!" "Hair smells as good as it feels. Deeply conditions & protects. Replenishes lost moisture and adds shine. Strengthens with pro-vitamin B5" Then it continues with the directions of usage, " After you've shampooed, use a good size dollop of conditioner. We find it works best to leave it on for 1-2 minutes Rinse hair thoroughly. Ta-da, fabulously soft, shiny hair . Try not to get any in your eyes but if you do, rinse thoroughly with clean water." The lid is a black flip lid to reveal the hole where you squeeze the shampoo into the palm of your hand. The bottle does contain a lot of information and claims however do they live up to the claims?............
            ~The price~ and ~Value for money~
            The product for 400ml costs a fabulous £1.00 (in most retail environments) so having just tested a full coverage on medium to long hair approx 45ml will be used at a price per usage of £0.11 which is great value for money. For lovely soft hair, I can personally recommend that you apply the conditioner after shampooing, wrap hair in cling film them wrap towel round the hair (within the cling film) leave on for a approx 30mins (you can wrap hair in a towel that has been in the tumble drier as well for a full boost) It leaves hair feeling fabulously soft.
            ~The smell~and~the look/feel of product~
            The bottle claims that hair will be left with a blueberry smell, so the product should smell of blueberries in the bottle.....right? Yes they are right I love the smell of this product, even though due to money saving I have watered this product down to get more usage out, the smell is still prominent. Before watering down the product it was fairly thick which was great for me as I was wanting to save money by watering down the product. The feel is really thick still and feels luxurious within the hand before adding to the hair. The conditioner was a lot thicker than most so I find it best for the pocket and usage to water down the product a little.
            ~Personal experience~
            Personal experience with this product is one of greatness, as I cannot find a fault with this product. It leaves the hair feeling soft and nourished both without using the cling film and towel, the hair is left with a lovely blueberry/fruity smell which you get a lovely scent of every so often.
            ~Final notes~
            I would rate this product as 5/5 as it is a fantastic smelling product that really does nourish and moisturise the hair .Please feel free to comment on anything you wish to know about the product but which I have not put in this review, I have tried to write about everything I would wish to know but a few things may have escaped my mind.
            Advantages
            Disadvantages
            A GOOD HAIR CONDITIONER
            I have recently tried out the Alberto Balsam Anti Oxidant Conditioner with Blueberry and this is my review.
            I bought the conditioner from my local Tesco supermarket and it was on a special offer price of only £1.02 which I thought was quite good value for money. I think this special offer runs until the middle of February and I liked the conditioner so will be going back to buy some more while the offer price is still running.
            The bottle is made of plastic and can be recycled which is good for me cos I like to do my bit for the environment. The bottle is a good size and is 400ml which I thought made the bottle of conditioner quite good value for money and I was pleased that it would last me quite a long time with it being a good size of bottle. There is a nice label on the bottle which has a picture of the blueberries on it and I think it looks like a nice product and it caught my eye when I was in the supermarket.
            When it came to using the conditioner I only had to use a small amount about the size of a matchbox but I do not have very long hair and you would probably need to use a bit more if you have long hair. I just put the conditioner onto my wet hair and rubbed it through my hair and left it for a couple of minutes then I rinsed it off. I thought that the conditioner rinsed of quite easily and it did not feel heavy on my hair or sticky and this can be a problem I have found with cheap conditioners that I have used before.
            The smell of the conditioner was lovely and I thought it was a really nice fresh scent to use on my hair. I did not actually think the conditioner smelled of blueberry but it was definitely a nice fresh fruity scent and I really liked it. I would like to have a scented shower gel or body wash in the same smell because it was so pleasant to use on my hair I think it would be nice to use in the bath or shower to.
            I thought that the conditioner made my hair tangle free and I liked how soft this conditioner made my hair feel. I thought that there was a nice shine left on my hair after using the conditioner although I do think any conditioner I use on my hair leaves a nice shine and leaves my hair feeling very soft.
            This conditioner is suitable to use on coloured or treated hair which is good for me because I find that colouring my hair can leave it quite dry and it can look a bit dull so I do like a conditioner that is suitable for coloured hair and I was pleased with the shiny look this conditioner gave to my dyed hair which can look a bit dry some times.
            I think there is a shampoo that matches this conditioner which I was not aware of at the time when I bought this bottle of conditioner but now that I have tried the conditioner and like it so much I am keen to try the shampoo to and see if I like it as much.
            I would suggest giving the conditioner a try out and I will be buying it again. I am not sure how much it would usually cost when it is not on offer but it was so nice to use and I liked the smell so much that I would probably pay the full price for it. I thought it gave my hair a very nice shine and made it feel nice and soft and I really liked using it on my hair.
              Advantages
              Disadvantages
              Highly recommended
              A while ago when I bought the Alberto Balsam blueberry shampoo I also bought a bottle of the blueberry conditioner, at the time of purchase they were £1 for a 400ml bottle from Morrison's. My reason for choosing the blueberry version was I'm about to have my hair coloured and as I haven't dyed it for years I don't have any shampoo or conditioners suitable for coloured hair. This blueberry one is for coloured or damaged hair so it seemed ideal, especially at that price.
              Like the shampoo the conditioner is blue, a creamy light blue to be precise. It also smells stongly of a fruity fragrance which again doesn't linger on your hair too much afterwards. The conditioner boasts anti-oxidant properties and to "deeply condition and protect" and "replenish lost moisture and add shine" and to "strengthen with pro-vitamin B5" so lots of claims there.
              I have a problem with frizzy and flyaway hair, that's actually one reason I'm getting some colour put in because it tends to calm down my flyaways for a while afterwards. This conditioner isn't aimed at flyaway or frizzy hair so I wasn't sure it would be any use for me. However I got on fine with the shampoo so had high hopes for the matching conditioner.
              To use you basically shampoo, rinse then apply a blob of conditioner where you need it. In my case that's a bit near the scalp and alot further down my long hair where it gets dry. The fruity smell is very strong and I'm not a fan of fruity fragrances but thankfully it doesn't hang around afterwards and make me feel like a greengrocers! The conditioner is middle of the road in consistency and not runny but not as thick as others I've used either.
              The odd thing about this conditioner is when applying it I don't feel like it's very moisturising and it doesn't seem to be thick enough to do much good, it seems to rinse out really quickly which had me thinking it was going to be a disaster and leave me with a head of frizzy dry straw-like hair. Imagine my surprise when it didn't, it not only decreased the dryness and frizz I have going on but left my hair feeling really soft and not at all weighed down. That's pretty remarkable for me because I normally have to accept the heaviness of residue to decrease the frizz. I'm not saying this completely got rid of my static and flyaways but it helped alot, straight after drying my hair is when my static is often really bad so I was pretty impressed.
              Overall I do really like this conditioner, it works to soften and smooth my hair and leaves it feeling really soft and silky to the touch. I love the fact it doesn't weigh the hair down and leaves it full of volume but not at the cost of condition. I'm extremely impressed and will be buying it again. Highly recommended.
              Advantages
              Disadvantages
              A standard conditioner at a budget price
              On a recent trip for a weekend back at my parents I came totally unprepared! I had remembered to pack everything for my daughter but for myself I forgot a number of things. Fortunately my mother keeps a large stock of toiletries so I was able to use and borrow a few things which saved me going out to the shops and spending money!
              I wash my hair several times a week and I get through quite a lot of shampoo and conditioner. I don't stick to one particular brand and tend to choose what is on offer at the time. I have coloured hair which has a natural wave to it and it tends to get on fine with most hair products. My mum lent me a bottle of Alberto Balsam Antioxidant Blueberry Conditioner as it is suitable for coloured or damaged hair (she has coloured hair too). I'd never tried this conditioner but it was purple and smelt berry like so I was more than happy to try it!
              ** What Alberto Balsam Say **
              "Blueberry, the 'superfruit', packed full of anti-oxidants is now great for your hair too. Perfect for when your hair needs a bit of extra nourishment, this blueberry & ginseng conditioner deeply conditions to protect and restore shine, leaving your hair looking and feeling fabulous! It uses most the ingredients you'll find in higher priced brands but at an affordable price which means you can look great every day!
              Hair smells as good as it feels! Deeply conditions & protects. Replenishes lost moisture and adds shine.
              Strengthens with pro-vitamin B5."
              ** Packaging **
              Just like all the other Alberto Balsam shampoo and conditioners the bottle is slim, round and tall with a black flip top lid. The bottle is semi-transparent so you can see the colour of the conditioner and how much you have in it. On the front the label is black with a picture of gorgeous looking blueberries. On the back of the bottle as you can imagine there is the usual blurb about the product.
              ** The Conditioner **
              * Consistency *
              I was actually quite surprised when I first poured this lilac coloured conditioner onto my hand as it came out the bottle quickly. There is no need to shake this bottle to loosen it before hand as it has quite a thin almost watery type consistency. I prefer my conditioners to need a bit of work coming out the bottle and when they do they are quite creamy and thick. But not this one! I did find it slipped easily through my fingers if too much had come out of the bottle or when I came to put it on my hair it ended up down my back or on the shower wall!
              * Scent *
              This conditioner doesn't really smell of blueberries whatsoever (even though blueberry extract is used!) it has more of a synthetic berry type fragrance which is sweet but not too sickly. The aroma is perfectly pleasant and is quite subtle but you do notice it linger in the shower and on your hair. As for the ginseng this might as well not have been included because unless you read the ingredients you wouldn't even know it is there.
              * Using It *
              Obviously this is the easy part as you simple pour the amount you want carefully into your hand(s). Be gentle as like I said above it is a thin consistency and you may get too much. The conditioner does glide on easily and within a few seconds your hair is silky soft and tangle free. I found it incredibly easy to run a comb through my hair to get the conditioner evenly throughout.
              Washing it out was incredibly easy which I think is down to its consistency. You don't need to stand under the shower for ages wondering whether the conditioner has rinsed out properly or not! The result is incredibly soft hair even before blowing dry it.
              * Post Hair Wash *
              After I have washed my hair I tend to blow dry it and then straighten it. After blowing it as normal I noticed the berry type aroma was still lingering on my now thoroughly dry hair which was pleasant. My hair was soft and had a lovely shine to it. I couldn't really fault the conditioner whatsoever! Straightening my hair soon got rid of the berry aroma which wasn't particularly missed! Overall, my hair was left soft, shiny and looked incredibly healthy. My hair was easily manageable and easily styled. My hair stayed that way for the next few days before another hair wash.
              ** Ingredients **
              Aqua (Water, Eau), Cetyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Steramidopropyl Dimethylamine, Steralkonium Chloride, Cyclohexasiloxane, Cetrimonium Chloride, Parfum ( Fragrance), Glyceryl Sterate, Citric Acid, Benzophenone -4, Disodium EDTA, Alcohol Denat, Linalool, Amyl Cinnamal, Panthenol, Limonene, Geraniol, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamide MEA, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Citronellol, Propylene Glycol, Vaccinium Angustifolia ( Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Butylphenyl Methylpropinol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Cl 60730 ( Ext.Violet 2), Cl 42090 ( Blue 1).
              ** Price & Availability **
              I have seen the Alberto Balsam range in most supermarkets and discount stores and this conditioner costs around 99p for a 400ml bottle which I think is an absolute bargain.
              ** Overall **
              A decent conditioner at a budget price. The only thing I don't like about this conditioner is the consistency as it is far too thin and you actually waste quite a bit which although this is a cheap conditioner you don't want to waste any as it will then start to prove expensive as you would get through the bottle quicker! The berry aroma is pleasant but nothing something I really like but it is subtle enough and doesn't stay on your hair for long. For 99p I think it is a fair price and would recommend it as a spare conditioner or something to travel with so at the end of the trip you can leave it behind and it hasn't cost you the earth!
                Advantages
                Disadvantages
                Worth a try and won't break the bank
                If you have read any of my other reviews you may know that I have recently rediscovered Aussie 3 Minute Miracle conditioner. However, it is a tad pricey as I wash my hair at least four times a week, so I decided to buy a cheaper brand to alternate with it. A quick browse of the shelves led me to this. I remember buying Alberto Balsam products when at uni (and using them as a teenager) and always loved their fruity scent, and at 99p a bottle i decided i couldn't go far wrong with this.
                At the time of review their is no image supplied by Dooyoo for this product. The bottle is fairly tall and slender, with the product name and images of blueberries on, so pleasant enough but fairly innocuous. One big plus is that the bottle is transparent so you can see how much product you have left. There is a black flip top lid on the top which again, is basic but functional.
                The conditioner is quite thick and stays put on your hand, making it easy to apply. The scent is quite strong, to me it smelled more like parma violet sweets than blueberries, which gave me a nice if unexpected burst of nostalgia! It is not an overpowering smell, but very much noticeable. One thing that did impress me was that the scent did linger on my hair for the rest of the day and, having last washed my hair yesterday, I can still just about detect it now with a good sniff.
                However it was in terms of performance that this product truly impressed me. I have shoulder long hair which is colour damaged at the ends, so usually needs some TLC. This conditioner left my hair totally tangle free, as well as really silky feeling and shiny looking.
                Overall, I didn't expect a great deal from this conditioner but was thoroughly impressed and will definitely buy it again. The brand's longevity speaks for itself and shows that sometimes a budget price tag doesn't mean sacrificing in results.
