Advantages: Does the job

Disadvantages: The smell isnt that great

Whilst scanning the shelves for a new shampoo and conditioner last week, I noticed that Alberto balsam had a couple of new scents added to their range so I picked them up.

I paid £1.50 for a shampoo and conditioner in this range but they wil cost you around 85p for one 400ml bottle. This particular conditioner is made with blueberry and ginseng extracts and is recommended for coloured or damaged hair.

So, blueberries are not only good for the body now but apparently they are also good for your hair and the anti-oxidants are suppose to provide 'extra nourishment', well that's what the bottle claims anyway!

Not surprisingly the shampoo is blue in colour but is more of a pale blue to the shampoo. On the front there are some big, plump blueberries which get your mouth watering and if that's not enough then when you pop open the flip top lid, you get a scent of blueberry juices.

The conditioner is quite thick although not it is easy enough to squeeze out of the bottle. It massages into the hair extremely well and clings to the tips without being washed down the plug hole. After two or three minutes I rinsed it out which was very easy to do; I wasn't left with any scum in my hair that I was aware of.

The smell of this shampoo is very nice although I still don't think it beats the 'strawberries and cream' variety. It's definitely the smell of blueberries but there is a strong medicated scent that I am not particularly keen on and it takes away from the overall experience of using the product.

The finished result was soft and shiny hair which was easy enough to get a brush through and the overall smell much better with the medicated smell being left behind.

I'm still undecided as to whether I'd buy this one again because although it was a bad conditioner it certainly didn't have the best smell in the world. I suppose because blueberries are suppose to be a super fruit, I was expecting something big from it but it was just the same as the other shampoo's in this range.

Summary: A good conditioner
