“ Brand: Alberto Balsam / Type: Hair Shampoo / Product line: Alberto Balsam „
I've used so many of these alberto balsam shampoos and conditioners I begin to lose track. I absolutely love the really punchy fruity smells in the range that when I saw this freesia one I was a little unsure as it is a floral scent.
The shampoo comes in a talk clear frosted plastic bottle with a black plastic flip lid. The bottle is pretty plain with some branding and a little picture. The main show stopper is the colours of these products. This once is a really lovely lilac colour which looked stunning when paired with the paler, creamier conditioner. I think they would look good in any bathroom.
The shampoo itself has a lovely consistency. It is thin enough to be able to pour but thick enough that it feels good quality and very rich. I find when you rub it into wet hair you only need a small amount and it lathers really well. It creates enough bubbles most of the time that I can coat my entire hair (which is long) and have excess to use to shave my legs and underarms.
The smell of the shampoo was the deal clincher for me and I have to say it is really beautiful. I can't lie, I do prefer my fruity scents because they just feel so fresh and vibrant. That said, this freesia version has a beautiful floral scent which feels very girly and feminine without being super sweet. I like to use this one if I am going out in the evening because it compliments my perfume which is always a floral fragrance.
This shampoo retails at around £1. I have it on good authority from other users that supermarkets sometimes have it on a 4 bottles for £3 offer which makes it even better value but £1 is still a pretty awesome deal.
Overall, these are my favourite hair care products and the freesia version is certainly a nice addition.
I am very particular about my shampoos and usually favour Loreal, but I am forever trying new brands. One of the reasons that I like exploring the Alberto Balsam range is because of the price. They retail for about one pound for a bottle and always seem to be on offer, so there is little excuse not to give them a go. My hair type always craves moisture and volume and I am always stuggling to find the perfect shampoo combination.
This is a well presented shampoo in a sensual looking bottle and I like the fact that you can see the liquid inside, so you are more enticed into using it. It dispenses with ease and I found the viscosity of this shampoo quite pleasing for a cheap brand. I hate runny shampoos so was pleased that a small blob was all that was needed. It smelt pretty good too. This shampoo is supposed to capture a herbal essence and this came across well. I got smells of autumnal forest walks and that idea of walking through my mother's old herb patch in the garden. There seemed to be subtle lavender smell tucked in there coupled with a fruity undertone. So the smell of this was impressive.
In terms of what it did it for the hair, it delivered an all over good cleanse and succeeded in removing some hair spray build up which was good. While it did not perform brilliantly on taming split ends it did suffice as a daily wash shampoo and I could certainly see myself wanting to return to it on one of those 'I am not going out anywhere' days! Good price, decent smell and pleasing enough results make this a solid purchase for the cheaper end of the market.
Normally I am a shampoo snob, mainly due to the fact that I have bleached and coloured and straightened my hair within an inch of my life! Therefore when I bought the Alberto Balsam range it was originally for my boyfriend to use!
Roll on looking at the Bank Account and realising I had no pennies left the offer in Asda was too good to refuse - 3 for 2! Total cost £2!! So I thought I'd give it a whirl - it wasn't like I was going out anywhere for my hair to be pampered!
Firstly - packaging - it doesn't look cheap, a clear bottle where you can see how much shampoo is left. The different varities also mean you can colour co-ordinate with your bathroom! Simple flip lid makes it easy to dispense when you have wet hands!
Now I am glad I am no longer a shampoo snob and here is why:
1. It is great value for money, you only need a little bit (roughly size of 50p piece for my hair, which is long and thick!) of shampoo per wash and it lathers up beautifully (I always feel the more bubbles the better!)
2. It comes in a range of "flavours" all of which smell as they should, so apples smells like apples and leaves your hair smelling exactly the same as the shampoo in the bottle!
3. I found that it worked really well without tangling your hair up, which is always a problem with curly hair!
4. It rinses well and doesn't leave a residue in your hair, especially a bonus as my shower isn't poweful enough to "blast" away shampoo!
1. Well it may just be my hair, but a lot more of it seems to be coming out in the shower now which isn't great - soon I'll be left with none!
Overall, this is great value for money, there is a great range, it smells good, its cheap but doesn't look cheap!
ALBERTO BALSAM SHAMPOO --SUN KISSED RASPBERRY
I must admit what first attracted me to alberto balsam sun kissed rasperry shampoo was the colour-pink! This shampoo has a lovely fruity smell and although its herbal with juniper and chamomile extracts i cant actually smell those, just the raspberry.
It comes in a 400ml bottle and costs £1.00. Its in a clear plasti bottle with a black flip top lid. The label has alberto balsam written on it and a picture of a raspberry. It describes it as "moisture splash for normal/dry hair".
There is a long list of ingredients on the back of the bottle but unfortunatly they are very difficult to read which is a shame for those who have sensative scalps and allergies.
I find this shampoo excellent for my hi lighted hair, it doesnt dry it out and although it doesnt state on the bottle that its for coloured hair i have had no problem with it fading my colour. It lathers up really well and only a small amount is required to get a really good shampoo.
My hair feels lovely and clean when ive used this product and it smells really fresh, it doesnt leave a chemically smell behind like some of the stronger shampoos, just a gentle fresh fruity smell and my hair feels really soft too.
I cant actualy think of any disadvantaged to this product other than may be dont get it in your eyes!!
A lovely shampoo, georgous smell, very economical, good price, an all round good product.
I love Alberto Balsam shampoos and conditioners for very day use. I find them to be very mild and gentle on my hair and that they give good cleansing and also a nice hydrated feel and wonderful smell to my hair which is why when I saw this freesia fragranced shampoo I was unable to resist it as I hadn't seen or heard of it before!
400ml slightly frosted whitish bottle that is still a little bit transparent and it has a lack flip-top lid/cap to the top of it concealing a small hole. On the front of the bottle there is a photograph of freesia's on there and I am told that it is Alberto Balsam Free Me Freesia Herbal Shampoo 'With aloe and jasmine extracts' and that it gives 'Deep shine for all hair types' and the size is stated. On the back of the bottle I am told a it about the product, directions for use are given, ingredients are stated and contact details for Alberto-Culver are listed. It's a nice easy to handle bottle and it is informative enough of course with the information being well laid out. I like being able to see partially through the bottle so that I can see when I need to purchase a new bottle!
The Information On The Back Of The Bottle Says:
Free me freesia shampoo will remind you of strolling through a country meadow, bringing a healthy glow to your cheeks and shine to your hair. It uses most of the same ingredients you'll find in more expensive brands, but at a great price which means you can afford to look glamorous every day!
Hair smells as good as it feels!
Restores shine and vitality
Strengthens with Pro-Vitamin B5
Well all that you need of this shampoo which is a very light lilac coloured thin gel is a really small blob. It has a light and delicate smell of flowers to it that really isn't harsh or in your face but very natural smelling indeed. It lathers up on the hair with ease and rinses out ever so easily.
I use this on wet hair and then always rinse and repeat before using a conditioner but if you wish you can just use this once of course!
This is a lovely shampoo from within this range. It is easy to use and smells wonderful and that smell lingers delicately on the hair for a good few hours. It makes my hair feel very supple, strong and healthy and it hydrates the hair very gently indeed without upsetting my overly greasy roots in any way shape or form.
It cleanses the hair and this for me is a really nice everyday light shampoo and as it says on the bottle is suitable for any hair type to use. It makes my hair soft and silky and everything about this is simply wonderful!
Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc priced at about £1.00 a bottle!
