I have used Alberto Balsam shampoos and conditioners on and off for as long as I can remember. I live at home with my parents so what I use on my hair generally depends on what my Mum buys. Although we rarely go shopping together I would imagine she buys what is on offer or provides the best value for money. I have the same view about shampoo - I don't think it is worth buying anything expensive because you can get really good quality products at cheap prices. I also have relatively trouble free hair - although I do curl and straighten it and have been known to not cut it for a year generally it is healthy and doesn't get oily or dry. I also don't suffer from any scalp problems or sensitive skin so a plain simple shampoo is absolutely fine for me.

That said, this has to be one of my favourite cheap shampoos. The smell is INCREDIBLE. I often think with cheaper products you don't really get the same quality you might find in more expensive brands but this shampoo definitely doesn't follow that trend. You can tell that the brand has made a commitment to achieve a really great smelling product - it absolutely does smell of juicy green apples. When applied to my hair it lathers really quickly and feels nice to use. It washes out easily and is overall extremely pleasant to use. The smell is intoxicating, I love the strength of it because it means I can wash my hair and guarantee it will smell lovely for the next couple of days until I wash it again. The bottle is a simple design - long and thin with a black flip lid and hole applicator. It sits on the base which is flat - I prefer this to shampoos which sit on their lid. It is really easy to squeeze out and because of the length of the bottle and the fluidity of the shampoo it is easy to squeeze even when little remains in the bottle. I think the packaging is functional but I also think it looks nice in my bathroom (especially when paired with the conditioner). The shampoo itself is a lovely bright green colour which looks great - although depending on the colour of your bathroom you might choose a different colour.

My hair always feels really clean after using this shampoo and it smells amazing right up until I wash it again a couple of days later. I have never really found this with any other shampoo before which mean I've been really impressed by this product. It always leaves my hair feeling really healthy and fresh smelling. It is designed to strengthen your hair and aimed at normal/greasy hair. I haven't particularly noticed my hair feeling stronger but as I have healthy hair anyway it isn't a concern of mine. It definitely leaves my hair feeling clean though and I have noticed it doesn't get greasy as quickly as it sometimes does with other shampoos.

In terms of price this is a ridiculously cheap shampoo - most places sell it at £1 for 400ml. This lasts me roughly a couple of months and I find you don't need to use much of it to have your hair feeling clean and looking healthy. Definitely worth splashing out a pound!

Overall? I love it! Make your head smell like a fruit bowl.
