I think that the Alberto Balsam range of shampoos and conditioners are pretty fabulous especially considering that they are so cheap.
I like all the different fragrances that they come in and I was curious to try out the pomegranate one as it was one that I actually hadn’t tried before.
The pomegranate shampoo is different from the rest of the range in that it claims that it is full of anti-oxidants and will strengthen hair thanks to its pro vitamin B5 complex as well as being deeply detoxing. The reason that it is different is because all the other shampoos are just nice daily shampoos that smell great but they don’t do anything particularly special other than give a decent clean and great fragrance.
This one has pomegranate and grapeseed extract and just like all the other Alberto Balsam shampoos it smells amazing. It smells very fruity and unlike a lot of shampoos this one keeps your hair smelling fruity and fresh for absolutely ages after using it.
It is a gorgeous shampoo and left my hair feeling clean and soft. It didn’t make my hair limp or feel heavy and is a lovely daily shampoo but that’s where I have a problem with this shampoo. There is nothing wrong with it and I actually really liked it but it didn’t do anything to my hair that the others didn’t either.
My hair didn’t feel stronger for using this and all the so called anti oxidants didn’t seem to have any effect. I still would only use on my hair as a daily shampoo and wouldn’t use it if my hair was dry and in need of some extra TLC because I don’t think it would do anything to help. I also didn’t think that this was especially detoxing and I wouldn’t consider it a detoxing shampoo and I would still buy a proper detox shampoo if I felt that my hair was looking a bit weighed down and in need of a deep clean.
It is a lovely shampoo but I think its claims are a bit misleading. It works fantastically as a daily shampoo but it won’t do anything to help with the overall condition and you will still need to invest in something else if you have damaged hair. It is completely worth the 1.00 that it costs and it smells gorgeous but just don’t expect miracles from it as it won’t deliver them.
I have tried a few Alberto shampoo's and on the whole am happy with them, however not so keen on their Pomegranate one. I bought it from Home Bargains costing only a pound for 400ml, it's widely available for the same price.
The bottles of Alberto are tall and slim making them easy to manage. It's see through with a pour control hole and flip top lid. This shampoo is thick but easy to squeeze out of the said hole. Bright pink/red this shampoo looks attractive. The black label tells us it's 'anti oxidant pomegranate shampoo with pomegranate and grapeseed extract' it's for 'deep cleansing with purifying grapeseed for all hair types'- sounds great. Alberto's shampoo's also contain pro- vitamin B5 to strengthen.
The shampoo smells really nice- don't know what pomegranate smells like but it's certainly fruity. It has a good consistency as is always the case with shampoo's in their range. Quite thick though easy to pour and easy to rub through the hair; you really don't need much of this stuff (50p size maybe) to get a good lather and enough for a full head. It rinses out quickly although leaves what feel like a residue.
During rinsing my hair doesn't feel dry or straw like at all. When first dry it looks clean and soft however it doesn't feel particularly clean. My hair looks shiny and full for less than a couple of hours then starts to get lank and weighted down. By the next morning it looks and feels greasy- I need to wash my hair more frequently whilst using it; in fact this morning I gave up on the rest of the bottle and have switched to a different shampoo.
On the plus side, it smells nice, looks nice, I love it's consistency, it's cheap enough and makes my hair clean, shiny and full- though but not for long at all.
On the down side, my hair feels greasy after a few hours, starts to feel lank, feels dirty to the touch, the smell doesn't last and I need to wash my hair more frequently. I can't say my hair is strengthened by this shampoo either.
3 stars from me.
I often experiment with different shampoos and I have found the Alberto Balsam range to be very cheap and cheerful. I decided it was time to try a new one and so I purchased the Anti-Oxidant Pomegranate Shampoo by the brand.
What does the product do?
The product promises to cleanse the hair leaving it fresh and clean. It also promises to give the hair some extra nourishment, replenishes the moisture levels and energises the hair. It should leave you looking and feeling fabulous. The brands promises to use many of the same ingredients as the more expensive brands but without the hefty price tag.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a plastic bottle which is sea through and you can see the product inside. On the front there is a picture of a chopped up pomegranate and on the back some extra information about the product is given. It has a flip top lid which is easy to open and close, even when your hands are wet and soapy. The product is really cheap and will cost you around £1 per bottle. It can be bought from stores such as Superdrug, large supermarkets and also from a range of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product has a slight red tinge to it and it has the consistency that you would expect from a product of this type. It has a evident scent to it as the others in the collection do but it isn't as strong as some of the others. I wouldn't say it actually smells like a pomegranate, even though the scent of a pomegranate is quite faint anyway. The scent is described as being reassuring by the brand but I would say it smells faintly fruity and shouldn't be strong enough to put anyone off using the product. It is slightly evident as you use the product but it doesn't linger on the hair.
The product is easy to work into the hair being not too thick and not too thin. It makes a good lather in the hair with plenty of bubbles so it does make you feel like you are giving your hair a good clean. It is completely comfortable to use and it doesn't cause my scalp any irritations or discomfort. The product is easily rinsed out of the hair. Once the hair is dry, it is easily to brush through and there are no tangles. It is manageable and it both looks and feels very clean, with all signs of hair products and grease gone. It doesn't really add much shine to my hair but it still looks in a good condition. The product manages to keep my hair clean for around 48 hours which is what I would expect from a shampoo.
All in all, this is a good shampoo which cleanses the hair well leaving it fresh and clean. It feels soft and manageable, and it is easy to brush through and style. The product is gentle on the hair and doesn't have an overly strong aroma. For the price, I would definitely buy this shampoo again.
Just recently I found myself running low on shampoo and conditioner so when I spotted lots of different varieties of said products in my local Poundland store at of course a pound a bottle I did quite a stock up and I opted for this one as I had never seen this scent one before!
The shampoo comes in a slightly frosted see-through bottle with a black, plastic flip top lid to the top of it concealing a small hole. On the front of the bottle there is a picture of pomegranate shown on there and I'm told in black writing in the main what it is and who it is by and that it is for all hair types and the size of the product is stated (As I have listed already). Other information on the back of the bottle includes being told a bit about the product, directions for use are given along with ingredients and contact details for Alberto-Culver are clearly listed. It's a nice enough bottle and informative enough but it's nothing fancy and suitable for men to buy too in my humble opinion.
The Shampoo Itself:
Well the shampoo is quite runny and a deep red, transparent looking colour and it has a sweet, natural sort of pomegranate, fruity aroma to it which is really pleasant and not too strong or in your face. It lathers up on damp/wet hair really very well indeed and I don't need very much of it per application on my hair at all even though my hair is rather long at the moment and it rinses out easily too.
This not only seems to deep down cleanse my hair, leaves it smelling really nice for a good few hours but leaves no residue behind on my hair at all. After using this my hair is left feeling and looking clean and certainly smells it, my hair feels less frizzy and it has a nice and natural sheen to it too and all in all I really can't fault this economical shampoo!
Available in all good supermarkets and chemists and so on for around the pound a bottle mark!
I love the Alberto Balsam range of shampoos and conditioners, I decided to pick up the Pomegranate one to try it out as I am so happy with the other products on the range.
I really love the scent of this shampoo, there is quite a strong Pomegranate scent that comes from it and the scent lingers subtly in my hair for about a day after washing. It has a nice sweet, clean scent to it and is one of my favourite scents in the Alberto Balsam range.
This shampoo is really easy to apply, you just take a small dollop in your hands and work it though your hair into a nice lather. Then you simply rinse it out and repeat the process if you like. I usually do not repeat lathering as I find that washing my hair once with this shampoo is enough. I find that this shampoo works best when you use the Pomegranate conditioner afterwards.
My hair looks, feels and smells amazing when I use this shampoo, it gives my hair a nice volume and also my hair is really manageable and nicely textured after using it.
I find that my hair can go 2-3 days without washing when I use this shampoo and so far I have never had any scalp irritation or dandruff from using it.
I love how silky my hair feels when I use this shampoo, also my hair looks really nourished and healthy and has a lovely shine to it. I was really impressed with this shampoo, especially because it is quite cheap to buy. I think that the Alberto Balsam range are a good daily shampoo to use and the Pomegranate one smells amazing and washes my hair up lovely.
Price and Availability
You can buy this shampoo for around £1 in Tesco at the moment, I think that this is a fantastic price for this shampoo as a bottle usually lasts me 2-3 weeks, depending on how often I wash my hair.
I think that this is a great shampoo, I love the Alberto Balsam range and would definitely recommend this scent. It smells great, leaves my hair clean and shiny and also is reasonably priced. Overall I would give this shampoo 5 out of 5 stars.

I have reviewed a couple of these alberto balsam shampoos before because they are my go to hair care buy when I run out of shampoo or conditioner. I also recently discovered they sell them in poundland which guarantees the price will be £1 and means I don't have to shop around to get the best buy.
As I said I've used a few of these shampoos but had never seen this pomegranate one until recently. I thought it was a really unusual flavour to have and was excited to try it out as I love fruity smelling shampoos.
The bottle has a very simple and functional design. The shampoo comes in a tall cylindrical bottle which is made from a clear frosted plastic. I like that this allows you to see inside the bottle because you get a good idea of how much is left, but it also isn't a horrible thin clear plastic. The bottle also has a black plastic lid which flips open. Underneath the lid there is a small application hole through which the product can be squeezed. The plastic of the bottle is quite soft making it really easy to squeeze the right amount even when not much is left.
I have found other products in this range have the most incredible punchy smells (juicy apple is my favourite). I was unsure how they would capture the smell and taste of pomegranate as it is quite an unusual flavour. The smell of the shampoo isn't as sharp or zingy as some of the others but it has a lovely sweet, fruity, mellow smell to it which is very pleasant. I wouldn't say it beats the apple flavour but sometimes it is nice to have a little break from your regular choice and try something subtle.
The shampoo is a deep red almost purpley colour which is really beautiful. The product also has a nice consistency and lathers up really well when you begin to rub it into wet hair. The shampoo creates a decent amount of foam. Personally I really like this because I have long hair and so there is enough foam created to disperse evenly throughout. I find you don't even have to use a huge amount of the stuff to create a good lather and this is definitely a plus for me.
The shampoo leaves my hair feeling clean and fresh with a lovely fruity, almost floral, smell to it which sticks around for the whole day making my hair feel really nice. My boyfriend always comments about how good my hair smells when I use these shampoos and it was not different with this one.
The bottle holds 400ml which is a really decent size for a very cheap shampoo. This costs only £1 from most retailers, though you might find it sometimes goes up in supermarkets. I now buy mine at poundland where the prices don't change. I really think this is a nicer shampoo than some more expensive brands I have used, and it always leaves my hair feeling great despite regular use of curling irons and straighteners. I also dye my hair but never really find that it feels dry or flat as a result of using this product.
Overall, I think these shampoos are fab and this is a lovely new addition as far as I'm concerned.
I bought the Pomegranate shampoo from Alberto Balsam because I saw it on sale for just 89p in Poundstretcher. I got a few different varieties from the brand to try, and I worked my way through them over the next few months. The pomegranate variety proved to be my favourite scent though.
It is said to be suitable for all hair types - my own hair is of the combination type, oily scalp and drier ends. Alberto promise that the shampoo will gently cleanse my hair, leave it feeling refreshing and revitalised, and sweetly smelling. It is also supposed to be strengthened, due to the addition of pro-vitamin B5. Lastly, The shampoo is also said to have anti-oxidant properties. I will have to take their word on that, as it is impossible for me to tell outside a lab whether this is true. I bought it more for it's standard cleaning properties really, which I can judge myself.
The shampoo comes in a tall narrow 400ml bottle, very similar to the others in the range. It doesn't look as cheap a product as it actually is. More importantly for me, the bottles shape makes it easy to hold with wet hands, and the fact that you can see through the sides means you can always tell exactly how much of the product you have left.
The shampoo is pink, which is appropriate given it is the pomegranate veriety. It also contains grape seed extract, but I couldn't specifically smell that. I am not even sure I could really smell pomegranate. The shampoo definitely has a lovely, distinct scent that is both fruity and not too sweet. It is just to me it does not smell exactly of actual pomegranate, especially when compared to a freshly cut one. I always have a bowl of them in the house at this time of year, because my family love the fruit. Whatever the scent is, I do like it and the fact it stays on my hair in a subtle way through into the next day. I think some fruity shampoos can have a smell that is overpowering and a bit sickly but I enjoyed this one. The scent is at it's strongest when the shampoo is being massaged into the hair. I had to do this for longer than with other products, in order to feel it was really cleansing my hair. This is mainly because I noticed that it doesn't produce much in the way of lather. It is tempting to use quite a lot because of this, but this just makes hard work of rinsing and it doesn't make my hair stay cleaner any longer. So I just got used to the lack of lather. I used a conditioner afterwards but not always the matching Alberto Balsam one, because I had others to use up. I can't say I noticed much difference to my hair whether I matched up the products or not, so I don't think you would lose anything by using the shampoo without the conditioner if you wanted to.
Once my hair was dry, it was happily mostly free of tangles, and therefore easier to brush. It felt and looked clean, as well as pleasantly soft. I wouldn't say it was revitalised, other than for the fact it was obviously no longer greasy and a bit bouncier as a result. My hair is quite fine, and while the shampoo didn't add any volume, or claim to, I do think the bounce made my hair look a little healthier. Sadly, I don't think my hair is any stronger having got through a bottle of this though. There was still the same number of odd broken hairs in my hair brush! Given the products low price though, I didn't expect much in that department. As a basic shampoo, for simply cleaning the hair and leaving it with a fresh scent, it is fine. I would recommend it, unless you really want a shampoo that produces a rich and creamy lather. In which case, I think you would be disappointed. I did not suffer any skin irritation while using this, but be aware that I don't have a sensitive scalp.
If you want to try it for yourself, it is easy to find in shops such as Superdrug, a well as supermarkets. It usually costs about a pound, which is a great value price. As mentioned above, Poundstretchers often sell it for 89p, so it is worth looking there first if you can. I have also seen a twin pack of shampoo and coonditioner in Savers for £1.49. Worth shopping around!
This review is also on Ciao, under the same user name.]
I'm currently using the Alberto Balsam Pomegranate Shampoo and Conditioner. I'm not brand loyal when it comes to shampoos and conditioners, I'm happy to use whichever products happen to be on offer or seem to be the best value. The reason I chose this particular shampoo and conditioner is that I've got a huge 300ml bottle of Marc Jacobs Pomegranate Splash perfume on the go and so whenever I spot pomegranate fragranced body products I pick them up to compliment my pomegranate perfume.
The Alberto Balsam range of shampoos and conditioners are available in most supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug, Poundland etc. And they normally retail at just £1 each. I bought mine from Boots where they are £1.07 each, but at the moment they are on a '3 for 2' offer across haircare and bathing. So I got a bottle of the shampoo, and two bottles of the conditioner for just £2.14 - bargain!
So the full title of this shampoo is Alberto Balsam Shampoo with Pomegranate & Grapeseed Extract, and it comes in a 400ml bottle. The shampoo itself is quite a thick shampoo, and its a lovely bright reddish pink colour. It states that it's deep cleansing with purifying grapeseed for all hair types.
As with all shampoos the directions for use are; wet hair, use a good size dollop of shampoo, lather, then rinse thoroughly, have you also tried our Pomegranate conditioner? works a treat. I don't find that I need to use 'a good size dollop' of this shampoo, I find that just a small amount of this works adequately. I do always follow this with the matching Pomegranate conditioner, and I do use a HUGE dollop of the conditioner, hence the two bottles of conditioner to the one bottle of shampoo.
I find that this shampoo lathers up well on my hair in the shower, and that I don't need to use a lot of it to create a rich and foamy lather. It rinses out well and it leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean in the shower, before then following it with the matching conditioner. Once my hair is dry it definitely feels and looks very healthy and clean, and it is lovely and soft and shiny after using this along with the matching conditioner. I normally wash my hair around 3 times a week and this has stayed the same whilst using this shampoo, so it hasn't caused my hair to go greasy or to need washing any sooner. I also find my hair to be just as easy to style whilst using this shampoo.
This smells gorgeous, really fresh and fruity. I can definitely smell the pomegranate in this shampoo, and I find that the pomegranate fragrance lingers in my hair for the rest of the day as well. The lingering pomegranate fragrance isn't too overpowering in my hair, but it's just subtle enough to be noticeable if I've wafted my hair. I do always use this along with the matching conditioner, so I am layering the pomegranate fragrance so to speak, it may not last quite as long if you are just using the shampoo.
Overall I'm more than happy with this for the low price. I think that like most shampoos it works best with the matching conditioner, and I'll more than happily buy this again. This is the first time that I've actually tried the Alberto Balsam range of shampoos and conditioners, and based on the pomegranate ones, I'll certainly try more in the range.
When it comes to shampoos and stuff; I'm not that bothered. Of course, I also have to have 'clean hair' - and usually wash my hair before it gets greasy, although when it comes to which products, I'm not that fussy and will usually use whatever is on offer that particular week. I have used Alberto Balsam shampoos and conditioners before (and I love how fruity they are), so when I was on the lookout for a different shampoo the other day, I decided to try this Alberto Balsam Pomegranate shampoo.
The bottle is clear and so you can see the red/orange liquid inside the bottle; this is useful as you can see how much shampoo you have left. The bottle has a 'lift up lid' and so you do need to squeeze the bottle just a tiny bit in order to get the shampoo out.
When I lift the lid open; I am greeted with a lovely fruity scent (I'm not really sure what a pomegranate smells/tastes like and so I am unable to comment on whether it actually does smell like one). However, it does smell very fruity and fresh.
You need around a 10p sized dollop of shampoo; simply wet your hair first and then massage the shampoo into your hair. I usually leave for a couple of minutes and then rinse out.
The shampoo leaves my hair feeling and looking very clean and shiny. I find that if I leave the shampoo on for a couple of minutes then my hair smells really fruity. I love the scent of this shampoo as it is so fruity, fresh and clean smelling (that alone is enough to make me want to use the shampoo.)
I have quite a sensitive scalp and I find that some shampoos (especially cheaper ones, like supermarket's own brands) leave my head sore and itchy, yet I have had no problems at all when I have used this shampoo.
I paid £1 for a 400ml bottle of this shampoo from Morrisons (I'm sure I have seen it cheaper in places like Savers) - but then again £1 isn't that expensive, when you consider other shampoos which cost over £2. I have used this shampoo four or five times (using a 10p sized dollop each time) and it still looks full to the top. So I would say that this shampoo is quite long-lasting and I probably won't need to buy another bottle for a couple of weeks.
So all in all a great shampoo which I would definitely recommend.
Thanks for reading!

My dear other half really likes Alberto Shampoos and one of the ones she has brought us home recently has been the antioxidant pomegranate shampoo which she said she got cheap in Wilkinson's for £1.99. The bottle is large though, at 400ml and therefore probably reasonably good value for money.
I have used this a few times now and I quite like it. It's refreshing. The packaging is nice. Te bottle is plastic and I am able to squeeze it and as it has a flip top lid, the shampoo comes out of the bottle without any bother at all. It contains grape seed oil and pomegranate and this is supposed to give my hair life and body. I am always dubious about these claims but I am up for anything.
The shampoo is thick in consistency and an unusual orangey / red. It smells very sweet though, and possibly even a little bit too feminine for me. It is very strong when you first apply it to your hair and massage in but I found that once I had rinsed it off and dried all of my hair, that the strong smell soon faded.
It lathers well and rinses off without any bother at all and my hair felt really deep cleaned after I had used it. It looked lively and fresh and glowing. As with all shampoos, I always use them on my beard too and indeed, usually all over my body, just like a shower gel. This made my beard lie flat and looked less brittle and dry and it gave it a bit of gloss and a nice sheen too, into the bargain!
My hair gets washed every day after work in the showier so I don't have very dirty hair so I cannot say if this would clean me well if I had let my hair get really dirty for a few days. My dear other half also says she loves this shampoo and the only person who hasn't use it in our house has been the little lad. I feel it is more of grown up shampoo though, rather than a family shampoo.
Overall, I cannot complain at all about this great shampoo. It cleans well, makes my hair look good and gives me a bit of a glow.
I recently was shopping in Morrisons and found this range of shampoos and conditioners on offer at 4 bottles for £3, I personally think this is a brilliant offer considering they are not a budget product so got a shampoo and conditioner in two different varieties. You can buy these shampoos in supermarkets, chemists and even in your local discount stores and they are generally about £1 each meaning this offer saves you 25%.
The shampoo comes in a frosted style soft plastic bottle containing 400mls of product, you are able to see through the bottle and see the bright orangey red liquid inside. The top of the bottle has a flip top lid in black, I always prefer toiletries to have a flip top lid as I find with screw caps I generally can't open them or drop the bottle. On the front of the bottle there is a close up picture of the insides of a pomegranate which actually looks quite appealing and the information that the shampoo is anti-oxidant, the shampoo contains pomegranate and grapeseed extracts and states that it is deep cleansing.
On the back of the bottle you have the following information "pomegranate the superfruit packed full of oxidants is great for your hair too, the shampoo deeply cleanses and strengthens your hair and leaves it smelling superfruity, it uses most the same ingredients as you'll find in higher priced brands but at a great price which means you can afford to look glamorous everyday"
The shampoo is a lovely orange/red in colour and has a thick consistency, due to the consistency and the fact it lathers well you don't need to use too much of the product each time. The shampoo smells lovely and you can smell it quite strongly when you open the bottle, the smell is sweet yet not sickly and fruity although I cannot say it smells of pomegranate as I can't remember their smell, the smell lingers in the bathroom after use but doesn't linger on my hair for very long.
The shampoo smells lovely and has a really sweet smell, the product lathers well and you do not need to use a large amount so the bottle lasts well so it is certainly worth the money I paid. The shampoo is easy to rinse from my hair and my hair feels ok after use but not fantastic, my hair feels a little straw like when I rinse this product out although I use this with the matching conditioner and once I have used both products my hair feels great again. I cannot say that this product has strengthened my hair but it certainly hasn't weakened it either and I do find my hair feels really clean after using this shampoo. I find my hair is easy to manage and left shiny and soft after using the products and so I would recommend this shampoo when you team it with the conditioner but I wouldn't recommend it on it's own.
I have bought many of Alberto Balsam products over the years as I find they are so affordable and a lot that I find are suitable. I had not tried this shampoo until recently when I thought I would give it a go and to see if I liked it and if it was suitable for my hair. I liked the sound of the pomegranate fragrance as I thought the natural ingredient would give my hair nice feeling, so that is the reason I wanted to try this one.
It comes in a tall, slim, thick plastic bottle with a flip lid. It cost only £1 for a 400ml bottle so quite a good price for a well known brand and a large bottle of shampoo. The shampoo is a pink colour and it has a nice fruity smell to it, I would say it smells of fresh fruits and a mixture of different fruits and not one of just the pomegranate as stated on the bottle. It is a nice, pleasant smell and not a sickly one as I first imagined it would be. The smell is apparent immediately the lid is flipped back. It is easy to hold the bottle because it is slimline and easy to grip to pour the shampoo onto the hands. It also has a very sturdy base to stand in a shower cubicle or on the side of the bath etc.
I used a small amount on my hands the first time I used it but I found the shampoo to be a little too thin, I found it to be quite a runny consistency and one that I found I just did not like very much. It was not at all a rich consistency. It drips from the bottle and makes a mess, it drips from my hands too and runs off my them before it has even hit my head and hair. Once on my hair I find it does not lather very well and I have to add a little bit more as I am washing my hair. My hair is short at the moment and I find I still need to use more of this shampoo compared to other brands, so a little does not go a long way with this shampoo in my opinion.
However is very easy to rinse from my hair with no problems at all because there is very little foam on the hair. My hair feels quite course while using it and it feels very rough too. Not the way I like it to feel. Once washed and I have used a conditioner my hair feels nice and soft and in perfect condition. But I just do not like the feel of this shampoo on my hair and the feel of it while washing it.
It contains purifying grapeseed and pro vitamin B5, it is designed for all hair types and is available at most good supermarkets and beauty shops.
It is a gentle shampoo and one that has not irritated my scalp at all, it has cleaned it well with no problems at all. In my opinion the only good thing I can say about it is the fragrance and the price, the fragrance is lovely and the price is so affordable but there is nothing else I can say about it that I like other than those 2 things really in my opinion.
It is not a very good quality shampoo and I think it is not very good value for money because I just cannot wait to finish the bottle and use a different brand. I have tried other shampoos in this range and found them to be suitable for my hair but I just cannot gel with this one at all. It is one I will not be buying again as it does not give me the results I expect from a shampoo. I do not highly recommend this one but if you are looking for a cheaper priced shampoo, I do think it is affordable and maybe more suitable. It is one that all the family can use and one that is suitable for male and female and children.
It is far too thin a shampoo for my liking and far too messy. I am going to drop 2 stars and give it just a 3 star rating because it is far too messing a shampoo and one that is quite irritating to use in my opinion.
Thank you for reading my review.
Another shampoo review!
Still on the look out for more shampoos and conditioners to keep my hair nice and shiny clean and also not to dry my already dried out hair even more.
You can get this shampoo for £1 400ml bottle in poundland along with the conditioner and many other of this brands products. I'm sure its the same price in all supermarkets as I've seen it in Sainsburys.
Packaging and product
It comes in a clear plastic bottle so you can see when your running low on your shampoo, a flip top lid which is easy to open and close, when you close the shampoo it will click.
It tells you it is for deep cleansing, refreshes and revitalises and strengthens with vitamin B5, it is suitable for all hair types.
Contains pomegranate and grapeseed extract.
It is a pinky orange colour and is a gel texture, it does not drip when pouring it into your hands and then to your hair, the gel is not too thick it is of nice consistency and smells very fruity and the smell does stay on your hair.
Using the product
As usual I used about a 50p sized blob of shampoo and washed my hair as usually would and repeat if needed. Make sure it is all rinsed out or it will look greasy after so rub your hands through your hair to see if any bubbles about!
It lathers up quite well but add a little water if not lathering up as your hair might still be a bit dry. It rinses out very well and easily.
I also bought the conditioner which I used along with the shampoo, before I had used I felt the shampoo had not left my hair dried out.
After drying my hair it had left my hair clean, I need to rinse it twice and watch how close to roots I put the conditioner or my hair wont look as fresh as I like it.
It does what it says and cleans but for a deep cleansing you would to wash your hair twice.
It doesn't give your hair any volume it just kind of sits down flat.
I'm happy with the shampoo and feel it has washed my hair very well, it smells great and doesn't disappear quickly. It is a really good price and I would buy this regular as well as the other fragrances. If you use it all the time your hair might become quite lifeless.
It is a great price at only £1.
I wash my hair with lots of different brands and I do not have a favourite and usually just use which one my wife likes to use on her own hair or one that is cheap at the time or on special offer, I also like the products for men which wash the hair and body in one product. Quite often also one that we have used before and use regularly. If one catches my eye I will buy it and give it a go and the one I am reviewing today is one I have bought a couple of times because it is a favourite which my wife likes quite a lot.
It comes in a clear plastic bottle with a flip top, the shampoo is a pale pink colour, it is a very thick liquid and I just place a small amount into the palm of my hand and just wash my hair, the small amount is enough to wash my hair as it is short and I do not need a large amount to do the job of washing it. The quality is very good for the price of just £1 for a 400ml bottle.
I think it lathers really good once it has hit my hair and it foams just right for how I like a shampoo to foam and lather. It does not drip when being poured onto my hands and stays in place until it reaches my hair with this one.
It is easy to rinse from my hair, which is short and quite thick and it leaves it soft, I find it washes well and it has a nice smell to it, I think it smells quite fruity, my hair smells nice and fresh after it has been washed and it has dried. I can easily comb my hair after using it with no problems at all.
I have used this to wash my grandchildren's hair and it has cleaned very well indeed and I have also used a conditioner after using it and all of our hair has been nice and in a good condition. I think this is a nice family shampoo and is suitable for both men and women.
It contains purifying Grape seed and Pomegranate, it is also suitable for all hair types and contains Vitamin E to help condition as it washes. It is a nice gentle shampoo on the hair and it revitalises it to leave it smelling nice and fresh and in a good condition.
I like the slim bottle as it is easy to hold and pour from the bottle in the shower and it sits nicely on the side of my bath because the base is quite flat and I have found that it does not tip over after I have place it on the bath as I have found with some other brands of shampoos.
The texture is soft and the quality is super with this one and I think it is a really good shampoo and a popular range of shampoos and good value for money.
This one is a really good one with a nice smell and I highly recommend it for anyone as I think it is very good value for money and only a little is needed to clean the hair for all the family.
I rate it 5 stars.
Review of Alberto Balsam Anti-Oxidant Pomegranate Shampoo.
Alberto Balsam have been around for a long time now and as I am sure most people will know, they make a large range of haircare products.
I am reviewing the Pomegranate Anti-oxidant shampoo which is widely available from supermarkets, High Street chains and chemist shops.
The shampoo is presented in a tall, clear plastic bottle with a black plastic flip cap which conceals the hole through which the shampoo is dispensed. . The shampoo is visible through the bottle and the colour is a sort of bubblegum pink shade. The bottle contains 400ml.
The label advises that the shampoo is suitable for all hair types and contains pomegranate and grape-seed extracts. The label also tells us that the shampoo deep cleansing with purifying grape-seed and pro vitamin B5, for added strength.
The usual warnings and direction for use are found on the back of the bottle along with company information and ingredients. The shampoo should be used within 12 months of opening.
I have rather difficult hair at the best of times, it is long and fairly thick, but the actual hair itself is fine. It also has a very strong natural wave. This means that my hair can frizz easily and is very unruly if I am not careful. Any heat such as a blow dryer, near my hair, causes a wonderful reaction of static electricity and a hilarious hair standing on end effect! Consequently my hair care routine involves simply shampooing, a dollop of conditioner and being left to dry naturally. I find Alberto Balsam products usually perform well and suit my strange mixture of dryish ends and greasy roots!
The scent of this shampoo is lovely, fresh and fruity with a hint of a vanilla. I cannot honestly say I could detect pomegranates in the scent, I would describe the fragrance as more like strawberry or raspberry.
I found it cleansed my hair satisfactorily and left it feeling soft and fresh. The fragrance is quite dense and I find my hair is still slightly scented with the pomegranate shampoo the day after washing. In fairness this was after also using the matching conditioner, whether the shampoo alone would scent your hair for over 24 hours, I cannot say.
The pink shampoo is fairly runny in consistency and the bottle needs careful handling to avoid getting a handful of the product, as it comes out very quickly. I have to admit that I love the pink colour of this product and I am secure in the knowledge that my other half won't pinch it as he will assume, being pink, that it is too 'girly' for him!
I live in South East Kent, an area notorious for it's very hard water. If a shampoo, shower gel or washing up liquid can lather up here, it will lather anywhere!
So how did Alberto Balsam Pomegranate shampoo cope with Kent's chalky water?
Sadly, not that well. It lathered up but the lather was not as rich or foamy as I would have liked. I was not surprised at this, as it is a problem that I have found with other shampoos. It was OK, but no more than that. I am sure that this product would perform better in another area of the UK where the water is softer.
As mentioned, Alberto Balsam also have a matching conditioner in the Pomegranate range.
**Price and Availability**
Alberto Balsam seems to be one of those products that is always on offer somewhere! At the time of writing this review, Lloyds Pharmacy are stocking the range for £1and Sainsbury's have a deal running until March 2011 of £1 each or 4 for £3. The Alberto Balsam range is widely available throughout the UK and it is definitely worth shopping around for special offers.
The shampoo is made in the UK for the Alberto-Culver company.
I am not listing ingredients as I feel that to pad out the review with a long list of unpronounceable ingredients is pretty pointless. Anyone who really needs or wants to know this kind of information will probably read the labels before purchasing anyway.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
Alberto Balsam Pomegranate Anti-Oxidant shampoo is a reasonably priced product which is certainly worth a try. I particularly like the strong scent the shampoo has, although I do feel it is a little artificial. I also like the jewel-like colour of the shampoo and the fact that the container is plain and unremarkable. I feel that you are not paying for fancy packaging with this product, unlike some upper end of the market products. The bottle is recyclable where facilities exist, which is an important issue for many people.
It is also quite unusual for me to find an 'all hair type' shampoo that doesn't dry out the ends of my hair or give me greasy roots!
If you want a well priced shampoo with a lovely fruity scent, then I recommend you give this a try.
Thank you for reading.
