Advantages: Cleans really well

Disadvantages: None for me

We've been trying lots of different shampoos in our house lately. To be honest I'm not really sure why but then again I'm not really that bothered I suppose as long as there's always a shampoo in the bathroom to use. If I rack my brains though I think it's got something to do with shampoos making my mums head itch if she uses them too much plus the fact that she's always looking for a good bargain - then again who isn't. Anyway back to the point this Alberto Balsam Olive and Ginseng shampoo is one of those that has found its way onto the shelving in our bathroom lately and therefore one that I have recently used and will probably use again in the future.

The shampoo comes in a relatively tall and thin semi opaque plastic bottle upon which you find the information that the shampoo is "perfect for when your hair needs a bit of extra nourishment" and that it "gently cleanses to energise and replenish moisture" so as to leave you with hair that "smells as good as it feels"!

Due to the fact that the bottle is semi opaque you can through it see the luscious green coloured shampoo and when you lift the snap-top a sweet soapy smell greets you. This scent isn't however one of simply soap but also something else that I can't quite put my finger on but that smells delicious.

The shampoo itself is stated as being one that provides extra nourishment for coloured or damaged hair but seeing as my hair is neither coloured nor damage and that this shampoo has done it no harm and definitely some good I would say that any hair type can use it. My mum does have coloured hair and therefore I can view this shampoo for both perspectives.

Obviously the amount of shampoo that you will need to use will completely depend on the length of your hair but I found that a ten pence piece size amount completely washes my hair, which is beyond shoulder length, and provides a more than adequate lather. The fact that the bottle contains 400ml of shampoo therefore makes it great value for money, especially when it can be purchased for as little as 99p.

When rubbing the shampoo into my hair I found that it seems to glide through very well and almost immediately leaves my hair feeling much softer. This for a start really impressed me because quite often I find shampoo simply makes my hair clump together whilst I wash it making it really difficult to wash out. This shampoo however was not like that at all as not only did it glide through whilst I washed it but it also aptly covered all my hair and then rinsed out without any messing or me having to stand for a prolonged period of time under a torrent of water waiting for it to run clean.

After letting my hair dry naturally I noticed that my hair looked a lot more nourished than it normally does and that it was certainly far shinier. Better still I also noticed that it stopped my hair become greasy, which it can do extremely quickly. This therefore means that whilst using this shampoo I don't have to strictly wash my hair every other night for fear of looking like a yeti if I don't. This for me is fantastic as it means that when I go away with cadets and don't have the facilities to wash my hair whilst away I know that if I wash it with this before hand I can easily manage to go without for a long weekend.

The shampoo also had a similar effect on my mum's hair, which like I have said has been coloured. After washing her hair in this shampoo a couple of my times my mum noted that her hair was noticeably brighter and that the colour seemed to be more vibrant than before. For her this was a definite bonus as she suffers with having to colour her hair frequently because not only does it grow out quickly but it also looses its shine. Now I know that this shampoo won't help the colour growing out but it certainly helps her to make the most of her colour whilst its in.

For the both of us this shampoo has been a definite hit and I'm sure that we'll go back to this one again some time in the future. Let's just hope it's the near future.

Summary: A great shampoo that cleans well and smells lovely
