Advantages: good scent

Disadvantages: not as good as pantene for taming frizz

If you happen to be on a budget, then buying shampoos is a costly business. My shampoo and conditioner seem to run out every month, which sets me back about eight pounds to buy new ones. It is sometimes handy to invest in a lower buget shampoo, just to have at the back of the bathroom cupboard for emergencies and also when you need to give your hair a rest from your regular shampoo and condioner routine. I have literally hundreds of back-up shampoos, which I have bought and tested and then leave to gather dust for such occasions.

Alberto Balsam are a reputable brand, though not quite in the league of Loreal or Pantene, but they do manufacture shampoos for a reasonable price and the bottle usually lasts ages, thanks to the large size.

This Sun Kissed Raspberry shampoo was one I tried recently and I was generally pleased with the results. The bottle is well presented with a flip top lid, meaning minimal mess. I was also drawn to the lovely pink colour, which gives you the the impression you are buying something fruity.

The smell:

Quite a robust scent, where the vivid smell of raspberry powers through with ease. Taking a whiff makes me think of summer fruits and raspberry crumble. There was not any soapy smell which was good, the fruityness seemed to be the overriding aroma. There are the herbal extracts which are a little more understated, I could not pinpoint anything in particular, as the raspberry is the overwhelming factor.

The shampoo dispenses well, quite creamy and lathers up well too. I use just a small blob, work it through wet hair and then rinse with warm water.

Results:

After the blow-dry, my hair felt quite soft and did have added bounce. The smell soon faded, but it did feel clean and had enough shine to impress me. My criticism would be that the shampoo did not not tame my fringe, which is a benefit I get with the Pantene range.

The shampoo has vitamin B5 which is great for the hair, so this is is a worthy cheap option shampoo to have for emergencies. A bottle will cost you about a pound.

Summary: not bad

Mmmmm interesting! I love fruity smelling shampoos but I love the price even more. Read a review about the apple version yesterday and am thinking that this may have to be my new brand of shampoos! Very useful, thanks x
