Advantages: not a strong smell, cleans the hair, has antiseptic and cleaning properties.

Disadvantages: doesn't quite tingle

I spotted this shampoo in my local Morrisons for £1 as I was on the hunt for a good shampoo after my cheap Tesco shampoo had run out ;). I've got loads of Original Source tea tree stuff, which is quite strong, so I assumed this shampoo would give me that same 'tingle' that OS gives. The Tesco shampoo had left my hair quite greasy so I wasn't keen on buying it again and figured since tea tree has great cleaning properties that it would leave my hair feeling clean, the way it should be.

This shampoo is 'suitable for all hair types' but I wouldn't say that's true - for instance, what about dyed or permed hair? I was always under the impression that it took some kind of special shampoo in the case of dyed and permed hair - am I wrong? Anyway I wasn't expecting great results from this shampoo so when I squirted out a 50p piece size into my palm (and be forewarned that it shoots out of the bottle pretty quickly!) and worked it into my wet scalp I waited for the 'tingle' that was advertised on the bottle. The earth didn't move, no visions and certainly none of this Herbal Essences advert guff ;). I'd go as far as to say I didn't even feel a mild tingle. Sure I could *smell* the mint, but not really feel the effects I usually get.

I also have a problem with the claims of 'natural' ingredients. Now I'm not an anti-toxin person in the least; I don't eat organic food, I use bleach alll the time and I have no issue with chemicals - they are good. However to claim this product is natural and herbal is a bit of a stretch. Lab manipulated extracts, more like ;). Like I said, I don't have a massive problem with this but I can't help but feel it's mis-representation of the brand and this shampoo.

Now that that is out of the way...let's talk about what you get for your £1. 400ml lasts me a few weeks - well me and my husband - so it's not bad at all. I buy a separate baby shampoo for my son (that works out at around 9p per bottle) so he doesn't use our shampoo. Does it do a good job of cleaning hair? Yes. I haven't washed my hair in two days and it's still not greasy - any other shampoo and my hair never even feels clean and looks greasy right after being washed :(!

I would say that this shampoo doesn't have an overwhelming scent - you can smell the mint, but it's not overpowering in the way that Original Source is. Another thing is that the smell of the shampoo doesn't linger in the hair, your hair just smells of hair once it's dry.

Overall I would say I'll be buying this shampoo again - it gets my mop clean, isn't a bad price and looks good in the bathroom too with its clear bottle showing the pleasant green colour of the shampoo - and it doesn't make us look cheap by being packaged in a no frills bottle ;).
