In my never ending, and seemingly impossible quest to find the perfect 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner I decided to try a cheapy shampoo. Everyone say a big Hello to Alberto Balsam Wash and Revive 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. Now I don?t usually like 2 in 1?s but they are so convenient for the swimming baths. I do aquatone once a week, late in the evening and I don?t particularly like staying in the grotty communal showers of Fox Hollies leisure centre for one minute longer than I have to, hence the hunt for a good 2 in 1. I bought wash and Revive for the bargain price of 94p from Tesco. It?s available in most supermarkets and beauty shops. It doesn?t look as cheap as it is, although the packaging isn?t exactly cutting edge. It says it?s for all hair types and gives balanced cleansing and conditioning. The first thing I disliked about the shampoo was that the bottle had poorly designed blue flip top lid. The shampoo gathered at the top which lying down in my bag, so it leaked. Still, a lot of much more expensive shampoos do this so I wasn?t overly concerned. On the back of the bottle Alberto explain they have been offering quality haircare for affordable prices for over 30 years. You would have thought that by now they would have got it right! Apparently, they contain the same ingredients of more expensive brands, but it also includes an EXCLUSIVE multi-vitamin complex. The vitamins used are A, B1, B5 (panthenol), C and E. Now this all sounded very good, because as we hair care fanatics all know these vitamins are crucial to have shiny, healthy hair that bounces as you walk. The first time I used it was at the swimming baths. Obviously my hair was full of chlorinated water, so I used a generous amount on my hair. The texture
was very watery, but it lathered well on my hair. The shampoo is a light blue, slightly medicinal in looks. The smell was very pleasant, very like fresh apples. It?s a scent a I love in my hair and it cleared the smell of vile chlorine. All was well, as far as I was concerned. That is, until my hair started to dry. My hair felt as though I hadn?t rinsed it properly, just dry and gunky. The worst part was my scalp. At first it just felt dry, but then huge flakes started to come off my head. Then it started itching. Now I was extremely concerned about this as I used to suffer psoriasis on my scalp, resulting in years of tormenting by vile school children. I washed my hair again, with T-gel and all the problems disappeared. As a glutton for punishment, and for the sake of research I gave it another go. After all, I may have used too much, or not rinsed it properly. It could have been the chlorine causing a funny reaction. I gave it the benefit of the doubt by using it during a normal shower with nothing reactive on my hair, but again it did the same. My scalp felt scaly and itchy, and the hair itself felt like it had got about 3 tubs of gel on it. I had so much trouble trying to drag a brush through my dishevelled locks I had to wash it again, with a leave in conditioner so I could get a comb through it. This product is supposed to be a 2in1 but all I could feel was the 1, the shampoo, and a poor quality one at that. Even my boyfriend, who will wash his hair with anything, won?t use this after the one and only time he used it. This, from a man who has previously used Fairy Liquid on his hair. I will never use this again, so if anyone wants it let me know, I?ll even spring for the postage and packaging. I can?t bear to throw it out, as I hate waste, but this has put me off from ever b
uying ANYTHING in the Alberto range ever again.
At the moment I am looking after the pennies and some shampoos you get today can be really expensive, as i've said and wrote before my hair seems to work it's best when I change shampoos from time to time. This time I'm trying Alberto balsam wash and revive, a 2-1 shampoo and at 1.49p for a 400ml bottle I thought it was worth giving a try. When I was a child I remember Alberto balsam shampoo in the house along with the hairspray and my Mum always thought everybody else should use it, of course back then there was only the one kind and the same bottle and now there's all different kinds to suit your hair needs. This shampoo comes in a blue 400ml plastic bottle with a flip-up lid, this makes it easier to disperse the right amount. There is nothing to fancy about it, there is some writing on it with what I would same has some interesting information. It tells you that Alberto has been offering quality hair care at an affordable price for over 30 years. Alberto shampoos contain the same special ingredients as many higher priced brands, including an exclusive multi-vitamin complex to nourish and protect your hair. THE VERDICT After using the shampoo I felt it made my hair feel clean without stipping my hair of it's natural oils, I felt not only did my hair look clean, it also gave it a healthy shine and it certainly felt more manageable, my hair smells clean and not like a fruit basket like you get from some shampoos. This is a gentle shampoo that gives my hair a boost and doesn't leave a waxy residue behind that can sometimes give me dandruff, I definately give this shampoo a thumbs up and will continue to use it for a while. thanks for reading.
