I have the relative misfortune (some would say different!) of having rather hard to control, curly hair when it starts to go longer than about an inch on top. As a result, to avoid more regular cuts, I try to use gel or wax to control my hair and give it hold for my working day. Some products work, some don't, and sadly this V05 doesn't really completely do the job for me. For a few hours, it's a great product, giving my hair a sort of wet look and holding firm, but any form of touching it seems to make the firm hold disappear, and it just ends up feeling and looking greasy as opposed to controlled. Even without touching, it has a lack of hold once the ... Read the complete review

When I ran out of my usual foam hair styling mousse, I decided to browse the chemist shelves to see what else was available for maintaining my hairstyle after drying it with a hair dryer. Since I choose to keep my hair relatively long, past shoulder length, it only takes the slightest breath of wind outside and I can say bye bye to any hairstyle I might have sported prior to leaving my front door. I've tried many a formula to help maintain my hairstyles, and usually the only method that seems to have much effect, is to use an industrial strength hair spray. I had to go to my local shop the other day because my son had his hair cut and wanted it spiked. My lkocal shop only had this brand in. I thought that it wouldnt matter because he was only a young boy and wouldn't be used often so it would last me a while for the 2.49p that I paid for it. It stated that it was firm hold which was good due to other brands didn't seem to keep his hair in place. It isn't a wet look gel so it should make him look presentable. It also came in a squeezy bottle with a secure cap, so I could easily style my sons hair without getting my hands in a mess and just using my fingers. I got it out of the bag when we arrived at ... I bought this product on the premise of firm hold as I found many products were fine to use in the morning but over the course of the day your hair style loses its firmness and begins to sag or become completely flat altogether. I have reasonably short hair, keep that in mind, as I'm sure it would have different effects on hair of different lengths. In your hand it feels like most other gels, coming out in jelly like globules and becoming a sort of slime on your hand when rubbed. Not particuarly nice to handle and requires soap and hot water to wash off, it certainly has a firm hold on the hands. On application onto hair it feels reasonably thick. Hair is ...
