I'm always on the lookout for products to help my dry, coloured hair retain moisture and softness so when I spied this product on offer in my local Superdrug, I jumped at the chance to try it out. I've used V05 products in the past and been impressed with them, so I hoped that this one would work well too. The V05 haircare range has been around for a number of years, but has recently been redesigned and now sports bright pink and cool cream packaging. The 150ml Miracle Mist bottle is white and slightly see-through, which is handy as it means you can see exactly how much of the product you have left. The spray nozzle and lid are bright pink which make the bottle that bit more eye-catching. The product, an 'elixir' with 5 natural oils, is described as a "lightweight leave-in conditioning spray with satin silk". It is supposed to: - Give you lightweight moisturisation - Improve manageability - Help protect against heat damage - Leave hair smooth, soft and with a healthy shine. To use the product, you should spray it onto clean, towel-dried hair and comb it through. This is the way in which I normally use the product. Since growing my hair a little longer I've given up drying and straightening it every day, and often leave it to dry naturally, brushing it out when I get to work. I'm often in a hurry in the morning, and this is ideal to use - I simply spray it on to towel-dried hair and brush it through with my Tangle Teezer. I normally use between three and five sprays, all around my head. The spray has a light and pleasant scent which soon fades. My hair dries naturally within an hour or two and I don't usually apply any other products to my hair. To the untrained eye, my hair probably looks completely natural, as though I'm not using any products at all. However, I know better - I can certainly tell the difference when I am using this. Compared to when I use no product, my hair appears more moisturised. It is easier to brush through, is shiny, and feels smooth to the touch. Therefore, it certainly fulfils three of the four claims listed above. The other claim - that it protects against heat damage - isn't one I can verify, seeing as I've stopped using my hairdryer and straighteners on a regular basis. Importantly, though the product moisturises my hair, it does not make it greasy. I am careful not to apply too much, but even so, it spreads evenly throughout my hair and is lightweight, not weighing it down. The packaging states that you can also use a little of the product on the ends of dry hair. I rarely do this, mainly because the product, being a spray, is difficult to direct solely at the ends of the hair. I tend to use another product for this purpose, such as gel or cream. I have used this product every day for a few months and still have over half the spray left, so it does last a long time. The nature of the product, being a mist, means that only a very small amount is needed at once. The product isn't a styling product - you'll need gel, cream, mousse or wax to create a dramatic hairstyle. However, if you just want to enhance your natural hair and make it look shiny and easier to manage, this Miracle Mist does an excellent job.
I have shoulder length hair that is naturally wavy and can become quite frizzy at times. In a bid to calm my hair and make it look more presentable I bought V05 miracle mist for the first time a couple of years ago and it's a product that I've kept going back to. Although miracle mist is primarily formulated for heat damaged hair and can also prevent heat damage when applied before a heating appliance is used, it is also suitable for controlling frizz. I don't tend to straighten or hair dry my hair very often, but with my sister getting married a couple of months ago I put my hair through its paces with hair dye, straighteners and curlers. It was an Asian wedding, and as I'm sure you'll know these tend to last a few days with various functions and ceremonies. By the end of it all my hair was crying out for some love and attention and I found myself reaching for this. Miracle mist is housed in a blue triangular shaped bottle which has a trigger pump at the top through which the product is dispensed. However it appears that the packaging has now been revamped and it now comes in a white coloured bottle with a pink lid. Each bottle contains 150ml of product and costs £4.39. Miracle mist is made up of a blend of 5 vitamins along with active shine boosters and claims to leave hair looking and feeling vitally alive. I would have liked to know what the 5 vitamins were (I quite like the sciency bits on hair care/cosmetics) but there was no information on this on the bottle. The product also claims to detangle hair and helps protect against breakage. As I explained above I usually use this to ease frizz but recently have been using it a lot more to help my hair recover from the trauma of my sisters wedding! To use I spray this onto just-washed hair that has been towel dried. I spray a small amount all over the strands of my hair and tend to avoid getting this onto the top of my head as I find that it starts to make my scalp feel heavy and greasy. Once squirted onto my hair I run a comb through and style as normal. I should point out here that this is a product that is meant to be left in the hair and not rinsed out. After using this regularly for a few weeks my hair is looking a lot more healthier and not so dry and brittle, although I am sure the shampoo and conditioner I have been using also had a role to play in this. In terms of detangling it does a very good job. I tend to use a conditioner almost all the time when I wash my hair and this gets most of the tangles out, but inevitably some do remain and Miracle mist does a great job of detangling the rest of my hair. Miracle mist also does an excellent job of calming my frizzy hair, making it look a lot more presentable! The effects last for a long time and if I use this in the morning then it's only by late afternoon that my hair starts to get a little frizzy again. That's quite good in my opinion! The spray also smells lovely. It smells very sweet and not to dissimilar to the smell you come across when you walk into a hair salon. The only downside to this product is that it can be a little difficult to get hold of. I remember when I ran out of my first bottle I hunted around many shops for this and couldn't find it anywhere - even large branches of Boots didn't appear to stock it and I thought that it had been discontinued. However, it seems to have made a comeback this year which I am really pleased about, although so far I have only seen it in larger branches of Boots. Overall though I am very happy with this product from V05 and would have no hesitations in recommending.
I have had a long standing battle to straighten for years and I think I have tried just about everything on the market to keep frizz at bay, my hair soft and shinny and provide protection! The Product: The packaging has changed quite a bit over the last couple of years and I am pretty sure the bottle size is now smaller (but I am not certain) It's certainly quite a bit more expensive than it used to be. It's available in 150ml pump spray bottles at a cost of aorund £3.00 (prices vary between Boots, Superdrug and supermarkets-it isnt actually available in my local Tesco) I tend to buy at Superdrug because it is a bit cheaper. The spray soloution is white and is applied to damp towel dried hair. I spray libersally all over the hair (especially the ends) and comb through. I usually leave my hair for around 15minutes before I style. The scent is quite pleasent, almost floral and the mist is very light. Even when I have over used it hasnt left my hair dank and greasy. My Hair: When I first started using about 4 years ago my hair was long and I heat styled everyday to keep the style (blow drying and straighteners) now my hair is shorter cropped to above my shoulders and I still style with heat products. I get my hair cut every 6-8 weeks without fail (usually because it needs thinning out more than anything) and to nip away any split ends. My hair is naturally curly but I have straightened for years. For no aparent reason it can go from smooth and flat to fuzzy in seconds. Moisture from rain and mist also has the same effect. Does It Work On My Hair: It does help to protect my hair from heat styling (especially strightening irons as I can be a bit heavy handed with them). I noticed that the ends were not as dry using the mist and yes my hair was smooth once styled and it did feel softer. I am not sure you could class it as a detangler because it didnt seem to make any difference to any knots in my hair and combing through felt the same as normal. My hair, at times does go frizzy (although no where near as bad as if I didnt use) Overall: Overall the product does work well on my hair (over 4 years of using speaks volumes) but I am not sure if it is the product itself or a combination of other things that I do and products I use help such as: 1) I conditioner on my hair every day (regardless of the make I will always leave on for around 5 minutes) and once a week I will leave an intensive conditioner on my hair 2) I never roughly towel dry. I will squeeze out excess water and leave my hair covered with a towel for about 30mins 3) I always comb when wet hair 4) When I blow dry I will have the dryer set to a fairly cool setting and blow dry down my hair from root to tip. 5) Without fail I have my hair trimmed and thinned every 6-8 weeks I think if your hair is in quite bad condition you wont see immediate effects (if any) when you start using this product. I think it will help to protect and condition but only after a period of time will you see any benefit. I would definately recommend but think for dry and damaged hair you need to use an intensive treatment a couple of times a week before you start using this. It works to a certain degree on my hair (smoothing, condition and removes some of the frizz but it is no miracle cure especially if your hair is very thick or in bad condition)
My hair suffers from frizz, which isn't helped because I straighten it. One day my mother presented me with this miracle; VO5 miracle mist. I don't use this as a heat protecting spray, although in the past I have tried using it for that purpose and it does a good job, not excellent as my hair still gets a bit of visable heat damage, but it does it well enough. This product is great for sorting out frizz though. During the day, I will look in the mirrior and notice that my hair has really bad frizz, as if I have gone swimming in the sea and haven't rinsed my hair properly. So I take this bottle, Give my hair a good spray, and using my hands, flatten my hair. Voila! The frizz is 90% removed. It says use sparingly for this purpose, but I use it more than sparingly. It also leaves me hair feeling very soft once it has dried, this product really does what it says on the bottle This product is extremely hard to get now though, the only place I have seen it is wilkinson's. It has a good price, although it would be nicer if they made larger bottles as I run out quickly.
I've been reading a lot of foxyred's great reviews lately, and as I commented to her, its making me examine my own hair to see whether I should pay more attention....it appears I should! My hair is very long and thick and I dye it black fairly often (the profile pic of me with highlighted hair is 2 years old!) so examining it, it does look exhausted quite frankly! I don't often style my hair for work, usually because I cant be bothered and also where I work is very casual so its not really necessary. If I'm in a rush, I'm happy to twist it and put it up wet, (which is no doubt causing the breakage!) and if I have time I will blast it with a hairdryer (I usually don't have time, my hair takes a ridiculous amount of time to dry!!) Going out wise I will straighten it with my trusty GHD's and occasionally GHD curly it or use tongs or rollers for waves. So as you can imagine, it isn't every day that my hair is subjected to all sorts of heated objects, but then again, I don't often treat it to any TLC so I can see whys its looking tired! I treat it once a week to a leave in conditioner but apart from that its usually a wash and go jobby! At the moment, the ends look really bad, they are extremely dry and not long after brushing my hair, it seems to be sticking together in dry tangled clumps making it look like I haven't brushed it at all! I also have lots of fly-away hair all over that could do with a bit of taming! The roots & mid lengths are very dark and healthy looking apart from the fly-aways, and my hair smells lovely and feels fairly soft due to my good shampoo and conditioner, but the end 5-6 inches look horribly dry and frizzy as well as feeling quite coarse - I have had a recent hair cut so it shouldn't be this bad! The only time my hair looks long dark and shiny is when I have the GHD's on it, and I just refuse to go through that rigmarole every day so a solution is definitely required! The Rescue Remedy **************** Digging around in my bag of stuff, I come across this miracle mist which promises to detangle and add shine - exactly what I am after. Basically this spray is a leave in conditioner that is supposed to help protect against breakage (this seems to be my main problem) which will leave hair "fabulously frizz free, smooth silky shiny hair". It is a 150ml bottle, blue with a pump action top, easy to use and a nice shape for easy use whilst you are trying to spray your hair (its like a water pump shape that they use in the hairdressers) The bottle also states that it is great with heated appliances and that its suitable for "heat damaged or frizzy hair". My hair is probably a bit of both so I am hoping that this will provide me with the miracle it promises! There is lots of talk on the back of the bottle about various vitamins contained that will add shine. Application & My Thoughts ********************** I follow the instructions and apply to my wet, towel dried hair and as its Saturday morning, I have time to blow dry it - hurrah! The bottle is fairly easy and sprays covering a reasonable section of hair. As I mentioned I have a lot of hair so I take care to make sure I've covered it all and its lengths and them comb through. The smell is pleasant - I'm not so good at explaining smells I'm afraid but it smells a bit perfumed and almost fruity. This smell does linger but as I say, its pleasant so not a problem! After I dry my hair, I notice that my hair does appear to be slightly smoother in appearance - I do have less fly-away hairs and the ends now feel silky smooth to match the rest of my hair. There is no greasy residue which is nice so at this point I'm fairly pleased! Just when I thought I'd cracked it with something I had bought earlier.... **************************************************** Feeling pleased with my quick fix which I didn't have to go out and buy ( I was going to try Foxyreds suggestion of the Tony&Guys stuff, Mel - maybe I should've!) I started getting my stuff together to leave the house. Within 10 minutes of me doing this, brushing my hair and putting my coat on, I notice that my hair looks exactly the same as it did before I used this stuff! My fly- away hairs are now back and sticking out at various angles, and my hair is all clumpy at the bottom. It still feels soft but I'm extremely annoyed! I have read a couple of reviews on this - on here and the other side - and all have said it really is a miracle cure - am I really the only one that this didn't work for, hmmm?! I then decided to use it on my now dry hair as suggested on the bottle. As before, you are supposed to spray it on to your hair and it apparently reduces frizz. However I soon realise that maybe I was a bit over-zealous with the spray as my hair now looks a bit greasy...I cant win! Ibviously, it actually chucked it down in SW London today, so It appears I needn't have bothered anyway, although that's hardly the point! (it at least saved me from my greasy hair for the morning, when I came home I re-washed it!!) I don't think I will be using this in the near future on my dry hair as it made the appearance of my hair worse. However, I will carry on using this on my dry hair if I'm blow drying and perhaps I will spray it on my hair wet and leave it when I don't have time in the mornings. I have no idea if its protecting my hair from the heat or not to be honest, but I like to think its got one of its claims right... Summary & The Reality: *********************** ==Frizz Free == For all of 10 minutes ==Protects against heat styling == Perhaps, but how do we know for sure? Unless our hair does/doesn't fall out in 5 years time that is! == Detangles == Again, it appears to, but this doesn't really last long. I didn't really notice much difference after I had applied it on wet hair and combed through, but that might be because my hair is long and gets tangly easily anyway! == Adds Shine == Generally, yes, just don't use it on dry hair unless you fancy a hair full of grease! ==Cost == Currently selling in Boots for £2.99. Fairly reasonable if it did all it claims!
If you use dryer or flat iron, you should how easy your hair get damaged. that's why you should protect them as much as you can. I use flat iron for a long time , what could be harm to my hair, but after I discover Alberto VO5 Miracle mist, I am not more worried. This product protect your hair from heat damage, so styling can be healthy. I like design of the bottle, because it is easy to find. The bottle is red with silver spray pump and when you come to the store with many product, so you cannot miss this one. Bottle consist 150ml of conditioning spray, although it might not seems like a lot, it last me for about 3 month and I am using flat iron two times a week. The fragrance of VO5 Miracle mist is very fresh and it last pretty long on you hair, but doesn't smell too strong. I bought this product at Biglot for 2$, what was pretty good deal, but you can purchase it in many online stores like amazon.com etc. Usage of this product is very easy, you just need to spray it to a damp hair when you use blow dryer or to a dry hair when you use flat iron. Don't be surprised when you will see a little bit of steam coming from you hair, when using flat iron. It doesn't look good to see you hair steaming, but actually it is. A flat iron is taking the moisture from the product and not from your hair, so you hair are protected. I like to use Albert VO5 Miracle mist a lot, because I don't need to worry anymore about condition of my hair and the price is very reasonable also. Thanks for reading
