Advantages: stops you looking greasy, good for thick hair

Disadvantages: expensive ish I suppose

I always hold back from hair products as much as possible, other than the essential shampoos and such. I was forced to venture into the world of hair styling after I had my hair cut and some extra help was needed to keep it in it's sort of flicky, sticky uppy, kind of position.

Being a girl, with jaw length hair, it would be daft if I had a greasy looking hairstyle, as I do not want to look like a 15 year old boy. This led me to the Matt Clay product from Vo5 that I found in boots. At the time it was on offer so I only paid £2.30 for it, instead of over £3.

The tub is quite a small blue metallic type, with the usual branding on the top and clear information about what's inside. This is unlike other hair products I have seen my boyfriend using, in that it actually feels quite dry. It works very well on my thick hair and does just what you want it to do, and has great hold factor. The main bonus for me is the matt finish, because no way do I want a glossy look.

Fortunately this little gem is also quite a good frizz buster, and if you smear some between your hairs and apply liberally to long ish hair, it can really flatten things down and stop you looking like somebody that has had an unfortunate incident with a toaster in the bath tub.

Even though this does cost more than a lot of other products on the market, I think it's worth the price. It actually does what it says on the tin (ha!) and you won't be disappointed. However, it is extremely hard to know if such a product will help you, as we all have such different lengths, thicknesses and styles of hair! I would say that it mostly suits thick haired people.

Summary: best for thick hair
