Alberto VO5 Give Me Moisture Shampoo
Advantages: Nice bottle, Does clean hair, Nice consistency.
Disadvantages: Doesn't give moisture to the hair at all, Pricey.
I don't like sticking to the same shampoos and the reason for this is that I often get shampoo build up in my hair. Therefore I like to mix and match and try out new and different brands. I have never really mingled with VO5 before when it comes to shampoos, so I thought I would try out their 'Give Me Moisture' shampoo after I saw it in a shop the other day.
I purchased mine from Boots and the shampoo retails for £3.59. Personally I think this is a little steep for shampoo and you can find much better value from other brands, however I know that VO5 is quite a respected brand and I was hoping for good quality. The price might also be justified in the sense that you get 500ml worth of product in this bottle meaning it is a little larger than your average shampoo. You could probably shop around and find this a little cheaper as it may well be stocked in supermarkets and other stores, but I personally bought mine from Boots.
I have to admit that there was nothing in particular that attracted me to buying this shampoo other than its wild and bright packaging. The bottle is a hot pink in colour and is pretty hard to miss on the shelves. It looked good, so I hoped it would wash my hair good also. The liquid itself is a white, creamy colour as most shampoos are, and I don't feel it had a good or bad smell to it in particular, it was just pretty average upon first look. But how well did it work?
The shampoo squeezes out conveniently and easily and you do not need much of this to do a good job to your hair. I have quite long hair, well past my shoulders and I only need two or so squirts of this to do a good job. When massaging into my scalp, I noticed that this was definitely a good quality shampoo as it wasn't too thin in consistency meaning you could really rub this throughout your locks and ensure your hair is getting nourished. I left it to soak in for around one minute and then washed out in the shower. As far as ease of use goes, this was an effective shampoo, and I like the fact that there is no cap to it. You simply press down to open up the lid for the shampoo to come out, and I find this much less fiddly than a cap which is great.
The results were what I was most interested in though. One thing that I did notice about this shampoo is that it is called 'Give Me Moisture'. My hair can often get quite dry and I suffer from split ends regularly due to heating my hair often using hairdryers and straighteners. My hair is quite damaged and I was hoping that this could cure it. Results unfortunately didn't live up to the product titles or my expectations. It cleaned the hair thoroughly and well, however my hair was still as dry as normal and didn't feel in any better condition. This shampoo pretty much acted as just a regular shampoo, and I was disappointed with this.
Overall, this works as a shampoo and this is it. It is overpriced considering it does not deliver on its promises of giving you more moisture to your hair. It might only be me that it doesn't work for, but I would recommend trying other brands if you are serious about getting moisture to your hair. I can't deny that it is effective at cleaning hair and a nice shampoo to use, but it just doesn't deliver on its promises unfortunately so I have had to knock off two stars for this reason. Thanks for reading.
Summary: Doesn't work for dry hair.
