I think that hairspray is an essential item for most women and even some men. Different people use it for different reasons. As I have long, straight hair I just use hairspray to help boost my hair and make it have a bit more volume. I also find hairspray good for flyaway hairs and keeping it in place. I don't spend much on hairspray, and I often go for own branded products. However, when I saw this VO5 High Volume hairspray for a good price, I just had to pick it up. I purchased mine for £1.99 from my local Bodycare store. I have also seen it for around the same price in Home Bargains and other budge stores. This is also stocked in Boots however it is £3.05 there, so you are making a considerable saving if you shop around. Because I got it for quite a lot cheaper, I was really pleased and thought it was a great saving. As far as price was concerned, I was really happy. The bottle is what stood out to me in the first place. As you can see from the image, the hairspray comes in a hard to miss hot pink can. It really stood out on the shelf, and I am a sucker for all things pink. Definitely, a nice looking hairspray, but it was what was inside that I was more bothered about. One thing to note with this is that it is a 400ml can, meaning it is much, much bigger in comparison to usual hair sprays which I purchase. This means you really do get your money worth, so even at full price in Boots it is reasonable value for money. To use this, you simply take off the lid and spray accordingly all over the hair. I was looking forward to using this hairspray as it said it had an extra hold, meaning it should keep the hair in place all day. As well as this, the high volume is what stood out to me. VO5 sell a similar one which is called 'Ultimate Hold', but the volume one stood out to me. I have been trying so many products to try and make my hair that little bit bigger, and I was hoping this would help me on my quest. The first thing I noticed as I sprayed it out is that it comes out a nice, constant speed. It is simple to use and does not come out super fast like other sprays. I found it easy to work with on the whole. One thing that really stood out to me was the scent. Normally, all other hair sprays I have used have had that awful scent to them. I am sure most of you are aware. This one however actually smells nice and fruity which was a pleasant surprise, and the scent sticks to your hair. I find other hairspray scents quite overpowering, but this is just lovely in terms of scent. As I previously stated, I just wanted to boost my roots and gain some volume with this hairspray. I found that it did work slightly on my hair, as it kept my flyaways tucked away and prevented frizz. However, in terms of volume it just simply did nothing. Even when applying lots of this, there still was not fantastic results. This hairspray is good for a quick fix, but not good for styling for occasions. It is okay for me and I will continue to use it, simply because it just gives my hair a little extra oomph. However, for people that curl or style their hair up I would avoid this one completely. It will simply not hold your hair in place for very long if at all. I was a little disappointed with this. One thing to note which I was actually happy about with this hairspray is that despite how much you use (and it can be a lot due to its ineffectiveness) is that it is simply not sticky at all. It feels really light and unnoticeable on the hair. Overall, I am awarding this hairspray three stars, simply because it is a huge bottle for the money paid. It has a lovely scent to it and can fix basic bits of the hair. However, if you are looking for a strong hold hairspray or something to aid volume, I would avoid this completely. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with this, and I am in two minds as to whether I would actually repurchase it. A very average, every day hairspray from VO5. Thanks for reading.
