VO5 Hot Oil Moisture Soak
Advantages: Leaves my hair feelng and looking soft and shiny
Disadvantages: Expensive for four
I try and keep my hair in good conditioning as it goes through a lot of stress with styling and blow drying it all the time. I usually wash and condition it every couple of days and I try and use some sort of conditioning treatment on it at least once a week or more depending on the severity of the damage to it.
V05 hot oil treatments are something that I have been using on and off since I was a teenager. Although there are loads of conditioning treatments available that I like to use this will always be something which I end up going back to as it is still just as good as it has always been.
The hot oil costs £4.29 a packet in boots and in it you get four individual treatments. The oil comes in little plastic containers and you have to soak the plastic containers in hot water for a few minutes to heat the oil up and make it easier to apply to your entire hair. One container is enough for my medium/long hair and when I am doing it I always make sure to pay attention to my roots to ensure that they are getting plenty of the oil in them as this is always where I get the most damage.
You then leave the oil on your hair for a minute or so and then just rinse off. I use them after shampooing and conditioning and they leave my hair looking super shiny and much healthier. Any dryness that I have is gone and my hair looks so much sleeker and less frizzy when it is dried. You can actually see the moisture that has been put back in to my hair with these.
It might sound like a recipe for greasy hair putting oil in it but surprisingly these just don't make my hair greasy at all. Once it is washed out my hair it doesn't leave it heavy and when dried there is no hint of grease only shine and vitality. When you put it on your wet hair you might think it's going to leave your hair like a chip pan but trust me it really doesn't.
The goodness that these put in your hair isn't just a fleeting thing either and you can actually still see the shine and healthiness even days later. You do need to keep up the treatments to see the benefits but one a week should do unless you have particularly badly damaged hair in which case you should really try and do it at least twice a week instead.
I have bought these for years and will always probably continue to still buy them. They work great and when I haven't used them in a long time it is always nice to go back to them and rediscover just how good they are.
I do think they are expensive considering that you only get four in a packet but this is probably because I remember when they were only about £1 a packet.
Summary: just as good as when I was a teenager
