After having my hair coloured a few weeks ago as a means to give it a bit of oomph while trying to grow it long, six weeks on and my hair has played into the hands of the harsh weather conditions Britain chucks our way. The bad treatment I?ve given it in the way of daily blow-drying and brushing has been no help either and gone is the lovely, glossy sheen my hair had when I stepped out of the salon, in its place a straw-like mess bundled on top of my head.

I decide immediate attention is required so traipse on down to my local Boots and hunt for a conditioning treatment to help revive my hair.

My knight in shining armour comes in the form of Alberto VO5 Hot Oil. There are 3 to choose from: Moisturising, Revitalising and Nourishing. I opt for the Nourishing as I feel this is best suited to the current condition of my hair.

The box I pick up is a pale blue with the famous VO5 logo on the front along with a picture of a tube of oil. Each box has a coloured band around the top to help distinguish the Oil type. In this case the box of Nourishing Hot Oil is highlighted in purple.

A box of Hot Oil Treatment contains 3 x 15ml vials. Each vial contains enough for 1 treatment. The oil is bright orange in colour and has a very pleasant aroma. A box of 3 costs £2.88. Also available is a tube of Hot Oil Treatment containing 60ml again priced at £2.88. I chose the pack of 3 purely because the required application amounts were already measured out for me and also because they were on the B.O.G.O.F deal.

VO5 Hot Oil is specially formulated to help revitalise your hair?s health and reverse the damage caused by the daily traumas of heat styling and brushing. Using the oil can reduce the breakage of hair from daily brushing by up to 60% while at the same time building inner strength and leaving it silky smooth and healthy looking.

In just one short minute your hair is transformed from Wurzel Gummidge?s barnet to gorgeous, shiny
locks thanks to the blend of vitamins and nourishing wheat proteins found in VO5 Hot Oil.

The Hot Oil treatment is easy to use. Simply place a vial of oil in a cup of hot water and leave to steep for 2 minutes. Twist off the lid and apply to wet hair. No need to shampoo beforehand. Massage into your hair for 1 minute. As the hot oil treatment has been specially designed to work in this short time there is no need to exceed the application time. Rinse off the treatment and shampoo as normal.

I was a bit dubious at first about applying the oil to my hair as I thought it would leave my hair feeling greasy, but there was no need to worry. The oil washed out fully and my hair was full of life and vitality for a long time after use.


VO5 Hot Oil claims to protect your hair for up to 4 washes and contains a UV damage protector ? ideal for those long summer months. It is suitable for all hair types it is particularly good on colour-treated hair as it protects vibrancy and extends the life of the colour. I must admit my hair has never looked as good as it does after using this conditioning treatment. Gone are the dry split-ends I had, and no more flyaway hair. I?m really happy with the results as my hair is always easy to manage and looks so healthy and strong.
