Advantages: gets hair clean, quite cheap
Disadvantages: left my hair looking dull
I bought this shampoo a few months ago because I was trying to save a bit of money and this happened to be on special offer at the time.
I am not a huge fan of VO5, it's a brand that I do use from time to time but I can take it or leave it. This though, sounded like something I wanted to try, promising silky smooth hair with luminous shine - and let's face it, we all want beautiful, shiny hair! It states on the bottle that this is especially for dull, frizzy and heat damaged hair. Unfortunately, since I haven't dyed my hair for some time it is looking especially dull, and I naturally suffer from frizz, which means I use the straighteners on it, therefore making me fall into all three target categories!
Apparently this is infused with five vital oils - Avocado oil, Jojoba oil, Apricot oil, Almond oil and grape seed oil, which are nutrient rich, strengthening and shine enhancing.
I must admit that one of the things that attracted me to buying this was the pink bottle. For a cheap, everyday shampoo I thought the pink shampoo bottle and white and pink conditioner bottle were quite nice looking, and they especially looked nice together on the bathroom shelf.
The shampoo itself is a pearly white colour and quite thick. I've found that only a small amount is needed to achieve a good lather, making it economical to use. It has a delicate floral smell, but overall the scent comes across as being simply fresh and clean.
After using this, I found that although my hair felt clean and smelled clean. It looked clean too, but I was disappointed to find that there was no added shine, especially as this is specifically what the shampoo promised. In fact, I have to say I think it actually made my hair colour look dull, although on the whole my hair felt healthy and had a bit of bounce.
A 300ml bottle of this shampoo costs £2.12 from ASDA, which is a good price, but I do think that there are other shampoos in a similar price range which are better than this.
Overall, I was quite disappointed with this shampoo as it did not deliver the results that it had promised. I thought that it was a very average shampoo, and didn't like how dull it left my hair -especially as it promised the opposite! This was OK, and if there was no alternative I would be willing to use it again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase another bottle and don't think I would recommend it.
Summary: OK, but not great

- 18/07/09 I associate VO5 shampoo with being the anti-dandruff stuff. Shan't be buying this if it doesn't leave a shine. |

- 17/07/09 I used to love VO5 shampoo years ago, but haven't bought it for ages now, and don't think I'll be tempted to after reading this :) |
