“ Brand: VO5 / Cremes / Type: Serums / Cremes / Texture: Cream / What it does: Smoothes, „
I have long, dark hair in which I straighten every day using ghd's. As a result, my hair is slightly damaged which causes it to be frizzy and sometimes has static. I have tried lots of different frizz- easing hair products, including salon only ones such as TIGI and ghd. None have really worked too well. I was doing my food shop recently and found that they were selling VO5 hair care at 3 for 2. If I recall correctly, this serum is about £3.50. The bottle is a squeezy one with a flip down lid at the bottom. The serum itself is a medium thickness white liquid. It smells very pleasant, not too overpowering but leaves your hair with a fresh smell. You only need a 50p piece sized amount and I spread it around a little on my hands and run through my hair from the middle to the ends. I don't put onto the roots as this can cause greasiness. I then blow dry. I found from the first use that this serum worked moderately well. Although my frizz wasn't eliminated completely, it did tame it and reduce the static. It made straightening so much easier and my hair did look smoother afterwards. I would recommend this serum to people with mildly frizzy hair. It does aid straightening and does make hair look sleeker.
I have medium length hair that I would describe as wavy. It is neither curly nor straight and is an absolute nightmare in most types of weather. I prefer to wear my hair down and straight so therefore I regularly straighten my hair with the use of hair straighteners. I am becoming more and more aware of the damage that continuous blow drying and straightening does to my hair. I use a variety of products to protect my hair from heat damage. I have used other Alberto V05 products before and I have always found them to be pretty good and work quite well so I thought I would give this product a try. I was interested in Alberto VO5 Smoothing Creme as it claimed to do lots of different things. Firstly, it claims to help straighten and smooth the hair. This was the main reason I bought this product. I wanted a product that would assist in straightening my hair and keep my hair straight. This product is really easy to use. You apply a small amount to damp hair and smooth through the hair avoiding the roots. The instructions recommend that after blow drying from roots to ends, then use straightening irons. This isn't a time consuming product to use. You should remember not to apply this product directly to the roots of your hair as it is will make your hair look very greasy. It is the same sort of consistency as hair gel but once you start working it into your palms it becomes clear and thinner. This product is surprisingly not sticky like hair gels, mooses or waxes which is not what I had expected. In general, you need to be careful about the amount of this product that you use as I have used too much of the creme in the past which left my hair feeling very greasy and you could feel the residue of the product once my hair was styled. In fact I had to re-wash my hair and start the styling process again. Once the product is applied to the hair correctly and the hair is straightened I found that the creme does work. My hair did stay straight for quite a long period of time. This product also claims to contain a heat activated formulae developed for use with straighteners and also claims to help protect from heat styling and moisture loss. This product is therefore also a heat defence product. I always use a heat defence spray whenever I blow dry or straighten my hair as I previously mentioned that I am very aware of the damage styling does to my hair. I am always sceptical about whether these products really work as I tend to use a combination of products and try other measures to limit the damage styling does to my hair. As a result I wouldn't be able to confirm whether it is this product that protects my hair from the effects of heat styling. Lastly it is claimed that Alberto VO5 Smoothing Creme leaves hair sleek and frizz free. I always find that my hair after using this product does look sleek and smooth. This product does seem to work quite well as an anti-frizz product which is particularly useful for my hair type. The creme has a really refreshing and fruity scent which I really like. The fragrance doesn't seem to be long lasting though. This is a very reasonably priced styling product that I paid about £3 for - this was the 100 ml bottle. I would recommend this product to others. It is a reasonably priced product that has multiple uses.
I have thick shoulder length hair which has a mind of its own; it is not exactly curly but wavy in the wrong places and kinks up in all directions and is slightly frizzy on the ends. It takes ages to blow dry my hair straight as it is so thick and usually when I sleep on it I look like I have been plugged into the light socket again. I am always on the lookout for products to solve this and recently bought a tube Of VO5 Smoothing Creme I occasionally use hair strengtheners but try to avoid them if I can as they dry my hair out even more so I was glad to see that as well as promising to smooth and straighten hair it is also uses a heat activated formula, developed for use with straighteners and will leave hair frizz free. The instructions are easy to follow put a small amount on your hands and apply to damp hair avoiding roots, blow dry hair and then use straightening irons. I did as instructed and put some of the white smoothing cream onto my palm and rubbed together both hands and smoothed it down my hair, It was not sticky and it made blow drying pretty easy, I was pleased with the end result from just the blow drying and had no need to use the straighteners. My hair felt really silky which I was happy about as if I get the wrong product my hair feels quite wiry. My hair did stay smooth didn't kink or frizz for 2 days after using it which was a bonus and by then it was time to wash it again anyway. I am quite pleased with this product as it worked better than a lot of the more expensive ones I have tried so for the price and the results it gave I think it is a good buy. I bought mine from Boots for £3.29 per 100ml tube and depending on hair length and thickness would say it will last up to six applications.
I am lucky enough to have relatively straight hair. It doesn't need hours of straightening before I can leave the house but it does still need a little help. My hair is fine but I have a lot of it, it's the type of hair that needs taming or it will end up flying away all over the place or suddenly realising certain parts of it feels like having a curly day. As well as looking for a product that helps my hair stay smooth and straight, I also wanted to kill two birds with one stone and find something that protects my hair as well. * Alberto VO5 * From the same company as other famous brands such as St Ives and TRESemmé Alberto VO5 is famous for it huge range of hair care products. Alberto VO5 was the original flagship brand and has been in the market for over 50 years. Professional and trusted. I also think within recent years it has updated its look ands till remains one of the best hair care brands around. *Alberto VO5 So Smooth Smoothing Crème* This smoothing Crème claims to smooth frizz and protect your hair for a long-lasting, sleek, frizz-free style. It also helps to straighten hair while using a heat activated formula, therefore when using straighteners or anything heat stylers it helps to protect against moisture loss and stops your hair being fried! This sounded like exactly what I needed... smoother then smooth! * Price & Packaging * I bought this for around £3 from Boots and it fits in perfectly with the rest of the competition. If anything, for a 100ml crème, it is cheaper then some on the market and a 100ml crème goes further then a spray (in my opinion). The squeezable plastic tube it comes in is basic but attractive with a modern red and white design. It really pushes the message of it's 'smoothing' quality as on the front of the bottle it has the word 'smooth' written three times! The small picture of hair straighteners on the front was the biggest selling point for me. I knew I needed something to use when I straightened my hair and with all the confusing jargon on some products this simple image clarifies this was what I was looking for. *Instructions* Apply to damp hair. Put a small amount into the palm of your hand and smooth through your hair, avoiding the roots. Blow dry from roots to ends and use straightening irons. Pretty simple and in correlation to how you use most hair styling products so nothing out of the ordinary. * What was it like to use & Results * So the important part begins! The cream itself is almost like a gel, creamy white in colour once you spread it out on to your hands it becomes clear. It really does go along way so when it says a small amount, really you only need a small amount. My hair is well past my shoulders and I use a pea size amount. Any more and you will end up with limp, greasy locks. I usually sparingly smooth it all over my hair avoiding the top og my head as this is where the product could make my hair look dull, plus its usually the rest of my hair that needs straightening! The first positive thing I noticed was that the crème wasn't sticky on my hands. This was a good sign as if its sticky on your hands, then most likely it will be sticly on your hair. But the crème was really light and soft. I felt positive that my hair wouldn't look greasy afterwards as it does with some products. As I used my hairdryer to dry my hair it still remained 'unsticky' but I did notice my hair was staying straighter then usual. I tend to no blow dry my hair properly; I just blast it from any angle until my hair is dry. It just takes to much time and I prefer to dry it as quick as possible and let the straighteners do the work. This smoothing crème did some of the work for me. Once my hair was dry I noticed the usual fly-away culprits were actually staying still, and where I usually get the odd kink and curl, although it was still there slightly, it was hardly noticeable. This crème worked so well at fighting the frizz and smoothing my hair that if I really was in a rush, I could have left the house without straightening. Now that really is a winner! After straightening my hair really looked healthy and frizz-free. I didn't have to straighten it as much as usual which can only be a good thing for my hair. I must say I was surprised at how well this crème worked any my hair definitely felt the improvement. The crème itself has a very light, clean, fresh fragrance, which is great as the last thing I want after washing my hair is to smell like some chemical infused cloud. The light almost cucumber smelling scent doesn't stay on the hair and completely disappears. You do look and smell like you have naturally smooth and straight hair! * Conclusion & Recommendation * I was pleasantly surprised at how this helped my hair look smoother and straighter. It decreased the amount of time I spent on my hair and also made it feel and look healthier. Usually crèmes weigh my hair down, but as this is so light it kept my hair looking fresh and clean. My kinks and curls were tamed and my hair stayed looking straight for a couple of hours more then usual. After using sprays and wax's I definitely believe this is the best I have tried so far. Unsticky and uncomplicated. It is so 'unsticky' that I even use a tiny amount on dry hair before straightening. Just a small amount and it works to tame the unruly hair! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quick and friendly way of smoothing your hair. It will last for ages as you really only need a small amount and it is definitely worth the money. The small tub makes it great for going away and carrying overnight, plus the smoothing effects last all day. ==100% recommended for smooth, frizz free hair.==
