Alberto Balsam Tea Tree Tingle Herbal Shampoo
by europe-chick
I'm currently using the Alberto Balsam Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo and Conditioner. I'm not brand loyal when it comes to shampoos and conditioners, I'm happy to use whichever products happen to be on offer or seem to be the best value.
The Alberto Balsam range of shampoos and conditioners are available in most supermarkets, ... Boots, Superdrug, Poundland etc. And they normally retail at just £1 each. I bought mine from Sainsbury's where they are currently on a 4 for 3 offer. 4 for 3 is a bit of a weird number for me as I always use two bottles of conditioner to every one bottle of shampoo, and so a 3 for 2 is absolutely perfect, a 4 for 3 however always leaves me with one spare bottle of either shampoo or conditioner.
So the Alberto Balsam Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo comes in a 400ml bottle. The shampoo itself is quite a thick shampoo, and it's a kind of a bluey green colour, an aqua colour I guess. The shampoo states that it's a herbal shampoo with tea tree and mint extracts, and that it will make you want to leap out of bed and awaken your senses, leaving you feeling minty fresh. Like toothpaste hey?!?! Anyway....
As with all shampoos the directions for use are; wet hair, use a good size dollop of shampoo, lather, then rinse thoroughly. I don't find that I need to use 'a good size dollop' of this shampoo, I find that just a small amount of this works adequately. I do always follow this with the matching tea tree tingle conditioner, and I do use a HUGE dollop of the conditioner, hence the two bottles of conditioner to the one bottle of shampoo.
I find that this shampoo lathers up well on my hair in the shower, and that I don't need to use a lot of it to create a rich and foamy lather. It rinses out well and it leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean in the shower, before then following it with the matching conditioner. Once my hair is dry it definitely feels and looks very healthy and clean, and it is lovely and soft and shiny after using this along with the matching conditioner. I normally wash my hair around 3 times a week and this has stayed the same whilst using this shampoo, so it hasn't caused my hair to go greasy or to need washing any sooner. I also find my hair to be just as easy to style whilst using this shampoo.
This smells gorgeous, really fresh and minty, and I can also smell the tea tree in this too. It's definitely a wake you up and get you going in the morning kind of fragrance. It doesn't however have that scalp tingle that I was expecting it to have. This isn't the end of the world, but I just thought that this would be an added 'wake up' for me in the mornings. I do find that the minty tea tree fragrance lingers in my hair for the rest of the day after I've used this shampoo. The lingering fragrance isn't too overpowering in my hair, but it's just subtle enough to be noticeable if I've wafted my hair. I do always use this along with the matching conditioner, so I am layering the fragrance so to speak, it may not last quite as long if you are just using the shampoo alone.
Overall I'm more than happy with this shampoo for the low price. I think that like most shampoos it works best with the matching conditioner, and I'll more than happily buy this again. I was really hoping that it would have that promised 'tingle', but the fact that it didn't for me doesn't mean that I won't buy it again as I still actually really liked it. Alberto Balsam Juicy Green Apple Shampoo
by brady58
I really like Alberto Balsalm shampoos and conditioners for everyday use for the whole family. They are cheap and they do the job of cleaning and conditioning hair. They aren't as luxurious as some but because they are cheaper it is easy to overlook this.
I also love the fragrances that they come in. I love fruity shampoos ... and conditioners as not only do they smell fresh but I think that fruity fragrances are the best thing for keeping bad smells off hair.
My favourite one is the strawberry one but my children prefer the juicy green apples fragrance and I have to agree with them that it smells pretty darn good too.
The shampoo works well to clean my hair and remove any residue that is left in it from products that I use and it doesn't leave my hair feeling all tangled and squeaky either. It cleans but without taking all the moisture that is in my hair naturally away.
Some cheap shampoos can leave my hair feeling a bit straw like but this one doesn't. My hair is left feeling soft and manageable. I always use conditioner on my hair afterwards but with my son and sometimes my daughter we don't bother with conditioner and their hair is always tangle free and easy to comb through after using this shampoo.
The smell of this is really good and one that I really enjoy for a change from the normal shampoos and conditioners that I usually buy. It smells of apples but it isn't synthetic and unnatural. Sometimes with shampoos that are supposed to smell of fruit you would be hard pressed to even be able to tell what the fragrance is supposed to be with not with this one as it is immediately noticeable.
Once I have washed with this and the matching conditioner my hair smells lovely and the fragrance lasts on my hair for ages and I can still smell it at bedtime if I have washed my hair in the morning with them.
This is also a really economical shampoo to buy and the last bottle I bought only cost me 79p which is really good value especially for such a good shampoo. Read the complete review |

Alberto Balsam Sun Kissed Raspberry Herbal Shampoo
by k2705
When it comes to shampoo I'm not really loyal to one particular brand, I like to try different brands and fragrances and often buy what is on offer at the time. One brand which I buy quite a lot is shampoo and conditioner from the Alberto Balsam range, I really like the fragrances of these products and have recently been purchasing the ... Sun Kissed Raspberry shampoo.
As a rule I generally get on well with this particular range, although I did go through a period where it made my hair greasy, however this doesn't seem to be the case any more and I am back to trying out the different fragrances.
Packaging
The Alberto Balsam Sun Kissed Raspberry shampoo comes in a slightly frosted plastic bottle which still allows you to see the product inside, it has a large black flip lid on the top and a label on both the front and back of the bottle.
The label on the front on the bottle has a large black rectangle at the top with Alberto Balsam written inside, the fragrance of the shampoo, Sun Kissed Raspberry is written further down the label in black writing within a silver box, there are further facts about the product written beneath this including the hair type that this is for.
In the centre of the label is a picture of some raspberries.
The label on the back of the bottle contains further product information including facts about the shampoo, what can be expected of it, directions for use, warnings and the ingredients, all of this information is written in black and is set out clearly making it easy to follow.
The Shampoo
Alberto Balsam Sun Kissed Raspberry shampoo is of a reasonable consistency and is a transparent pink colour, the first thing I noticed about the shampoo when I used it was the fragrance it has a strong fruity smell to it which does remind me of raspberries, the fragrance is quite sweet and probably doesn't have that fresh fruit smell, however the sweet raspberry fragrance is pleasant and is not too strong or overpowering.
This shampoo is described as a herbal shampoo and contains Juniper and Chamomile extracts and is suitable for normal to dry hair. Alberto Balsam claims to contain most of the ingredients of more expensive shampoos but at a more affordable price, it also states that it will leave your hair clean, revitalised and moisturised and also strengthens with pro vitamin B5. After reading this I was hopeful that I would get on with this shampoo and that it would suit my hair leaving it in excellent condition.
Directions for Use
When it comes to using Alberto Balsam Sun Kissed Raspberry shampoo there are no complicated instructions to follow, it can simply be used in the way that any other shampoo is used, the directions on the back of the bottle state that you need to use a good size "dollop" of the shampoo, lather into your hair and then rinse. The amount of shampoo you use will depend on your hair length and thickness, however I have long thick hair and find that a small amount does go quite a long way.
Warnings
The only warning on the back of the packaging states that you should avoid getting this product into your eyes, should this happen you need to rinse them thoroughly with clean water.
Price and Availability
Alberto Balsam Sun Kissed Raspberry shampoo is available from a variety of places including supermarkets and also places such as Superdrug and Boots where hair care products are sold. The 400ml bottle is sold for just £1.00, however they are currently on offer for 2 bottles for £1.80. Personally I think at just £1.00 each this shampoo is excellent value for money.
My Opinion
I have been using Alberto Balsam Sun Kissed Raspberry shampoo for a little while now and have been pleased with it, I really like the fragrance of this shampoo and after using it my hair feels clean and fresh, the fragrance lingers on my hair slightly for quite a while after use, however this is not overpowering at all and more just smells fresh.
The price of the shampoo is what caught my attention to start with and in my opinion it is excellent value for money, you only need a small amount at a time (although this will vary from person to person) meaning that one bottle lasts a long time and is very economical.
This is definitely a shampoo I will continue to use and one I would recommend to anyone as an everyday shampoo which is suitable for all of the family. Read the complete review |
