      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Textured, High Hold, Low Shine - Its True.

If you haven't already you should check out my VO5 texturing gum review as this is a similar product, but one that I prefer.

American Crew are not particularly well known in the UK in comparison to brands like VO5. For this reason i saw it as a must review to try to open people horizons about them. The company make the product in the USA but are based in Barcelona, Spain. This explains why people in the UK don't see this on the shelves in Boots and Superdrug etc. American Crew do a range of products for hair with varying levels of hold and shine.

The FIBER product is the most similar to the VO5 product because its main aim is to add texture. This product is high hold and low shine. I currently use this product as my 'go to' if you like, the product I use most of all. As i mentioned before, I use gels/gums/pomades etc. to swish my hair to one side. This high hold is just enough to keep my hair in place for the whole day. The level of shine is also nice, the hair doesn't look wet or nasty but looks styled.

When you open the pot you see a yellow to cream colours tough clay. for my hair i use a thumbnail size amount and this works for me. Most people will probably need less than that. The Fiber also smells really nice, im tempted to say it smells of banana, but its just really good!

When it comes to what I would do if I were you, if you are after a strong product but looks styled and textured this is the one. Maybe purchase the smaller pot of 50g/1.75Oz to try.

American Crew are in my eyes are more up market brand that any VO5 type brands. You wont know many people who use it. Partly due to the cost, it isn't cheap, about £7 for a 50g tub. It goes along way though, I use less Fiber than I do VO5 texturing gum simply because it works better. The products container isn't the standard metal tin its actually a brown plastic tub that looks really nice.

I hope if you are reading this you are considering a product change (or are just curious) because this is one of the best out there. *More American Crew product reviews to come!*

The best way to know if this is good for you is too try it! if that's too much money to risk then drop me a message or comment telling me your hair length/style and ill suggest what's best! (I'm no expect but I like to think I know!).

      Thanks for reading!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

An excellent hair product if you are willing to pay the somewhat heft price.

Although the suggestions on the website say that this product is for hair between the lengths of 1-3 inches I find that it is suitable for even longer hair. My hair is very thick and this product can maintain a decent style for the whole day which is more than satisfactory. As stated on the tub it provides a matte finish and provides high hold. This is good because it does not make your hair look greasy. It washes out easily which is also a bonus.

It is important to emulsify the product (by rubbing it between your hands) before puttting it in your hair because otherwise it will clump.

The main problem is that the price is quite expensive. I understand that for higher quality products you have to pay more but still...its significantly more expensive than other alternatives in the UK. The 50g tub costs around £7 at cheapest and £8 is the average price on ebay and amazon. The 85g 'large tub' is around £9 on ebay which seems like a complete no-brainer.
